Reviews
The hotel has a great location, close to the riverwalk and Alamo, with friendly staff. However, the property is outdated and poorly maintained, with issues such as dirty rooms, malfunctioning elevators, and lack of parking. Breakfast is a highlight, but the quality of the rooms and amenities is inconsistent.

Location was convenient to River walk and Alamo. Lots to do and see within walking distance of hotel. Staff was very polite and Angel, the valet was very helpful. One elevator was broke when we checked in. Our 1st morning when going down to breakfast the 2nd elevator broke down and we got stuck inside. So, no elevator the entire stay and we walked up & down 4 floors the entire stay! We kept being told, "it should be fixed tomorrow."

Location, very central. Check in attendant was rude & basically said take what you get.

We had two rooms, both were damp and smelled of mildew. AC did not work well. The bathroom had visible mildew in the shower and a lot of rusted hinges etc. 4 throw pillow size pillows on a king bed. Tiny Tv for the size of the room. The rooms were just gross, my adult children who are not picky thought it was nasty too. We were there for one night. I woke up with a sore throat and we just left. Ick. This place needs to be renovated. The windows need some sound proofing. Drag racing kept us up until about 2AM. Over all a do not stay.

It was very convenient walk for everything The property itself was fine and comfortable. It was just a staff. And also the sofa mattress has a stain.

The hotel is centrally located to downtown tourist sites and totally walkable. The room and restaurant were awesome! I would definitely recommend it! Angel, the valet attendant, was very knowledgeable about the area and her recommendations were great! Nothing to report. We were very satisfied with our stay.
- 3.5/5
More options for breakfast should be there.
- 4.5/5
We had to switch hotels last minute and we were able to get a room quickly here. It was located downtown within walking distance to the Riverwalk. Staff was friendly, room was clean and there was free breakfast available. If you like a child room for sleeping, this is the place to be. Quick walk to the park if you have a pet traveler. The bed was not the most comfortable. One of the elevators were out of service and made it inconvenient on our check out day. Also, I love ice in my drink and the machine on our floor was out is service

The hotel was in good condition. The staff were very friendly and helpful The breakfast was average coffee wasn’t available until breakfast time the elevator was broken during check in and had issues during our stay

Great location in the city. Awesome Staff.

Room 301 had a mildew odor, the breakfast was the worst I have ever experienced..
- 2/5
Our room was clean, but we were placed in the 1sr floor at street level. We heard loud traffic, car radios, revving motorcycles and loud crowds of people outside of our hotel window all night. I’d highly advise bringing earplugs. We didn’t try the breakfast. We were too exhausted to wake up in time, but it’s served from 7:00AM - 10:00AM.

Loved the Valet parking info the rain, awesome room, great breakfast, enjoyed the late check out on the morning a tornado hit north of us. Difficult to maneuver all our bags from valet to our room, glad we had help. Hard to navigate all the 1 way streets to find the hotel. The one place closest to us for dinner was closed, so more walking in the rain to find dinner. An on site restaurant would have been awesome.

Cool little hotel. Clean rooms, pleasant and helpful staff, and filling breakfast.

Within walking distance to anything on the riverwalk. Breakfast was very good. Please note there's no self parking. Add $45.00 to published rate for valet parking.

I have been coming to San Antonio for 4 years straight , by far the best hotel since I’ve been coming for 4 years..
- 4/5
This location was wonderful, we were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go. The only downfall is it's in downtown where people are partying and playing loud music which we could hear. The people at the front desk and the lady in the breakfast area were great, very friendly and helpful. However it seemed like the lady the 2nd day at the front desk was not happy about being there, and didn't like to use words. The manager said she would take care of it.
- 4/5
Breakfast was poor; there were no potatoes or fruit the two days we were there. All the rest was excellent. Coffee was delicious

Great location. There for two days and never had to drive. Able to walk everywhere while we were there.

- 5/5
Breakfast was delicious, omelets, sausage patties, waffles, cereal, juice, potatoes, Hot and tasty. Room was perfect size, Nice bed, no issue with any kitchen appliance, water pressure in the shower was awesome, but there was not a vent in the bathroom. Location, location, location ! Close to shopping, bars, doughnuts 😊, food, Riverwalk, the Alamo. Ideal location. Definitely a place to return to.
- 4/5
Room price was good for the location, which was optimum for walking to the Alamo and plaza, RiverCenter, dining options, accessing the Riverwalk and other downtown locations. The room was comfortable, clean and cool, though could use some refreshing; carpet worn in places, AC a bit loud, mattress, though comfortable too, had a slope towards the middle (could probably be replaced too). Hot breakfast was wonderful with lots of choices. The staff were wonderful. Valet parking was a bit steep in price; the Valets themselves were awesome - very short wait time to retrieve our vehicle. Overall, the stay was great - just little things that warranted 4 stars over 5. For location - absolutely recommend.
- 4/5
Everything was great except for the A/C shutting down or heating up each night.
- 2/5
There was no hot water, 2 broilers broke while we were there. Had no idea you had to pay another $100 for parking (I only stayed 2 nights) breakfast was fresh and staff was nice.

Parking was $45.00. No mention of that in the reservation. Don’t stay on first floor as noise kept us awake. Disabled suite - well too much to say on the negative side. Water fills the floor with poor drainage.
- 3/5
Close to lots and within walking distance
- 5/5
My stay was very comfortable. The Townplace Suites has all of the basic amenities for a comfortalbe stay, and an excellent staff
- 5/5
While not on the river walk it is just a block away and there is plenty of urban shopping and plenty of restaurants and nightlife withing a couple of blocks. Valet parking is 51.22 with tax per. Nice little kitchen in my room. Water pressure is excellent in the shower, walk in, with glass door. Bed and pillows were great. Carpet, as usual, is not clean. I would stay here again. Only 1 elevator working.
- 2/5
Unwelcoming receptionist. Smelly rooms- smelt of damp linen and strong chlorine. No housekeeping done for 2 days despite reminders. So we checked out a day prior to our initial plan. Lost money. Recommend avoiding this property at all costs.
- 1/5
The room was torn totally up and dirty. Tears in the seats, dirty bathtubs, paint was messed up, just looked generally very worn down for the cost and disappointing. The staff was fine. Kinda rude nighttime guy. Wouldn’t recommend this hotel for anyone. Definitely won’t stay here again. If you don’t valet, you also have a terrible time with managing the parking garages way away.

Stayed for concert at Majestic Theater, excellent location for show.

- 2/5
The room was small, the bed was uncomfortable, the rr was dirty (cabinets needed to be wiped down, walkin shower floor was dirty), sink was clogged, no designated pull up for Valet or to park. Very disappointed in this stay. Edges need to be vacummed, doors, elevators needed to be wiped and dusted.
- 2/5
Shower head was a joke. My roommate for the night was labeled as a bum and told he wasn't allowed in there. He had to explain he was staying and show his room key before they let him go to his room. Used valet and when they took my car it was fine and valet brought it back the day we left with a flat tire I had to go to goodyear downtown and spend 300 dollars on a new tire. So PMC valet is a joke and still haven't answered me back about a way to correct this. Between hotel and valet worse visit to downtown iv ever had..I'll be Fredericksburg or other spot for getaway.. homeless downtown has got way out of control also.

Breakfast was limited variety, very crowded, no place to sit.

The bed was not very comfortable but doable. My back started hurting after the second night . Due to our limited time there , we went on and stuck it out.

If you blinked you would miss it, tight quarters to access, very awkward and uncomfortable. 1 of 2 Elevators has been out of service for several months. And the other was struggling with buttons broken. Needed to take the elevator to the top floor just to get down to the lobby. Some staff were friendly while others were not.
- 4/5
The property was very conveniently located in relation to the Riverwalk or the Alamo or many other activities. The room was a decent size with a fridge, sink, dishwasher, stove, dishes, tv, shower, extra blankets and pillows. The only issue we felt could have been vastly improved was the breakfast. There were two waffle makers side by side and that was basically the go to breakfast for just about everyone eating. Other than waffles there were chicken patties, and french toast. There were no eggs available as they were being cooked but we waited for 20 minutes and gave up. The line for the waffles was 20 deep and there weren't any other healthy options available. This is the worst part of the hotel stay we experienced. Everything else was actually very good.
- 3/5
I have stayed for two nights, the housekeeper didn’t came after one night

The check in staff was not nice and the staff at front desk was not nice at all! The rooms had rusted doors. The location is great! But the attitude of the staff will keep us away from this hotel next time.

Our stay at TownePlace was overall pleasant, and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. We would like to share a small concern regarding the breakfast, especially on the last day of our stay. With the holiday crowd, breakfast service became quite busy, and food refills took some time as there was only one staff member in the kitchen. A few guests were unable to get breakfast while waiting. We also noticed that the quality of some fried items could be improved. With a bit more preparation and support during peak days, the breakfast experience could be much better. In addition, they should also check the equipments in the gym coz not all of them are working properly.
- 4/5
Good.
- 4/5
Room was good but breakfast kinda made us not want to stay. Super busy and not big enough. Food wasn’t put out enough and ended before time. Gentleman was pretty rude about getting more food out for people
- 5/5
The room was clean and spacious. Personnel was courteous and friendly.
- 5/5
Clean room. We got a suite and it was very spacious. Perfect location for the Christmas Riverwalk lights. Breakfast was good and the man working down there was exceptionally friendly. He was on top of refilling items that were running low. Cold AC, and even the heat setting worked really well in the room. There was 2 thermostats to control the room. 1 for sitting area and one for the bedroom. Both actually worked for controlling the environment
- 1/5
First the Ac unit was not working second the bathroom doors has the lock issues, room had some weird smell.
- 5/5
Breakfast was good

Staff was courteous and great location. The room was ok, a little dated. The shower head needs adjusting. Only one of the two elevator worked. Wish breakfast started earlier to accommodate the marathon runners on Sunday morning.

I booked this hotel because it said it was a suite and because of the Marriott name. I was very disappointed. My husband and I kept passing it because we thought it was an abandoned building. The room had torn carpet, some of the wallpaper was torn, the windows looked like they had never been cleaned. One of the towels had stains on it. The closet where the iron was at, was so small we thought we were going to break something trying to get the iron out. The area by the pool looked like it hadn't been cleaned. There were spider webs and tiles were broken. Our room faced an alley which was where trash was picked up early in the morning. Whoever took the pictures for the advertisement did a great job, because it did not look anything like the pictures. I never would have thought this was owned by the Marriott. Sometimes, when we have booked rooms through Expedia, we're told that we have a "certain" type of room because of how we booked the room as though our room has been downgraded. I don't know if that was the case here, but I will not be returning and I do not recommend it to anyone.

Otherwise the place was nice. And really close to the venue I was attending. The street noise was excessive, but that is the city's problem. Having a valet was nice, but not having on site parking is always going to be inconvenient for people coming and going. Breakfast was fine. Not the best continental breakfast, the eggs in the english muffin sandwich were hard and chewey. The lower floor for the dining and pool area smelled like chlorine and sunscreen(?) mosr people seemed to get their food and go back upstairs. I ate there since my room smelled worse. Staff was nice and helpful. I made no use of the kitchen amenities in the room but was surprised to see them. In the future i wouldnt mind staying longer and actually cook for myself in the room.

The hotel is great; however, if you are a light sleeper, this may not be the best location. Since it’s in the city, you can hear everything from people yelling to buses or cars passing by.
- 5/5
Everyone was pleasant and helpful. I was surprised at the completeness of the kitchen area! Came in handy on the day it rained hard all day. The desk clerk offered an umbrella so I could walk to Walgreens, so helpful!
- 4/5
very good location. walking distance to alamo and river walk and other areas. parking is not available. only valet and it’s expensive. but their are many parking lots close by for a fee. rooms are comfy.
- 3/5
When on our way, we attempted to call the hotel for parking information, front desk would not answer their phone. Ended having to talk to a cop and Another hotel’s staff and parked a block away (by Walgreens) in a multi level parking for $15/day, which was fortunately the most cost friendly route anyway. Paid for a suite with a king bed and sofa bed, but got a queen bed and no sofa bed, when I inquired with the front desk they stated rooms aren’t guaranteed through third parties, but nowhere in my booking did it state that. However, the room received was very clean. The room only had the bathroom mirror that would fog up if you took a shower, it was a struggle to get ready for the concert we were attending. Breakfast buffet was varied and has good item selection: waffles, toppings, fried eggs, sausage, diced hash browns, oatmeal, cereal, toast, yogurt, muffins. At 8:55am they were closing up the buffet doors to start cleaning.

You could genuinely tell the staff was happy. Everyone who worked there was super friendly and helpful!

Had a very pleasant stay. Staff were friendly and helpful.
- 5/5
Hotel was very clean and AC worked great
- 5/5
We had a wonderful time very close to everything.
- 2/5
The location is great. Valet overcharged me. No local parking within a couple blocks so it seemed to be the best option. The first room was molded, smelled terrible, the curtain was torn and had something brown on it. We were moved to another room that had toothpaste on the walls in the bathroom, more mold on the ceiling, and was right by the elevators so it was constantly noisy. Walls are thin, that didn't help. There was a lot of banging we heard throughout the night, couldn't figure out what it was. Room service had to be requested, which we were never told to request them. The window unit had a hard time keeping up with the room temp. It stayed humid in the room - which it was a rainy weekend. The bed was horribly hard and sunken in toward the middle. I wouldn't stay there again if the rooms were free.
- 5/5
Great location and walking distance to everything. Only issue was the shower had cold water.
- 3/5
Weekend getaway for my husband and I. Location perfect in downtown. hotel staff great. Will never stay on first floor rm 103 again. Very noisy, window but frosted glass so it’s like no window, people in the street knocking on window as walking by. AC gets very cold, beds were too hard for me but husband liked it. Didn’t have breakfast or swim in pool.
- 5/5
Very well maintained, it is near to river walk and Alamo.
