All the amenities were beautiful and we truly enjoyed the kids pool. Only thing that could have been better was the service in the pools, there were a few staff members taking orders for drinks and food but somehow they would always skip us and not acknowledge us. Everyone else was super friendly and helpful except for the staff by the pools, they seemed a lot younger than the other employees. Valet staff was top notch as well as front desk staff.

The poolside food is pretty bad. WE order the chicken Pesto sandwich and it was bland. We aso had the chicken tenders which were also bland. I do not recommend ordering poolside food. On another note, I think there were some kind of animals in the duct system or somewhere. WE heard this loud noise that sounded like someone was in our room. We only heard it late at night around 2AM. It was loud enough to wake us from our sleep. it happened both nights and was a little alarming. I do apologize that I forgot to report it to the front desk while I was there but I just forgot. We were in Room 4029 and stayed on Aug 15 and 16. Other than this and the abruptness of the pool bartender, I just loved my stay. The place is great and is probably my 10th stay since 2016.

The property is grand and spacious, the room is big and open. My only downside was the tv remote didn’t work and when we called it in maintenance said it was the actual tv and there is nothing he can do so we were stuck without a tv for the duration of our stay, Second downfall the shower wasn’t cleaned properly and had dark Long hair on the shower floor and walls, Besides that our stay was comfortable.

The pool attendants were disappointing and missed plenty of opportunities to provide great service. My wife and I were largely ignored, and it felt like they were more interested in helping certain guests than others. We experienced the same lack of attentiveness at the Topaz pool bar. Despite there being three bartenders and the bar not being busy, I had to ask for service. The one exception was Dylan, who was the only server who came by the kids’ pool to check if we needed anything. His attentiveness stood out and was much appreciated. The food was decent but overpriced for the portion sizes, which is fairly typical for a resort. Parking was another downside. Self-parking costs $25 per night, while valet is $45 per night, and neither option is particularly convenient. In addition, the resort places a $200 per day authorization hold on your card on top of the amount you’ve already paid for your reservation. Overall, the resort itself is beautiful, but the inconsistent service and additional costs made it difficult to justify the overall value.

This hotel is beautiful. I lived in San Antonio my whole life and when they put this hotel in I always dreamt I would stay here one day and finally did (though I no longer live in the city). It was totally worth every penny. The only thing I wish was that my trip had been a little longer. Will definitely be coming to stay here again, its SUPER kid friendly and we saw quite a few pets too so I imagine its pet friendly as well.

We have stayed here many times, first time since the takeover. One thing bothersome is the AC dies at night with no motion in the room. 1. For the love of your older clientele, PLEASE put in HAND RAILS to the entrance of the adult and the family pool. In my opinion, the hotel is inviting a possible lawsuit for lack of accommodation. Given the vast array of beautiful options, I know the hotel could put in hand rails that not only help your guests, but add to the beauty of the surroundings. I actually spoke to 3 separate ppl when getting in the pool (I have had knee replacement surgery) and they all said they were surprised that a hotel of you caliber did not have hand rails. 2. If I am mistaken then please forgive me but has Sweet Water updated it menu? It feels the same since July of 2026.

There were cockroaches in the room, I called to let them know we had already killed four big roaches and they couldn’t change our room due to availability. The shower was clogged and they went to repair it and it remained clogged even after maintenance. They promised a credit and did not specify it had to be used in the hotel, lost half the credit given. I will not be returning. I paid over 1000 for two nights including extra fees. Not worth the money

There are a lot of fees that are applied at the end so be ready to spend an additional $200-300 on top of the resort price. I liked the location of the property as well as the amenities. The courtyard was decorated nicely with fire pits and comfortable furniture. I also really enjoyed the infinity pool. What I didn’t like about was that I was given the wrong room. The room I reserved and paid for was supposed to be 1200 sf but it was only about 500. The only reason I booked the room I did was because of the size. I asked one of the attendants and was told that they didn’t have any rooms that size but they were able to move me to a room with a balcony at least. Later, when I talked to the concierge on the 7th floor (Chris), she told me they did have rooms that were the size that matched my reservation and she would see what the mix up was. I never received the room that I paid for but instead I was given $300 credit to use at the resort. I am very disappointed. This is the first time I ever had a problem with Booking.Com. I feel like I am still due compensation for the mix up. The room I was given was less than half of the size of the room I reserved. On top of that, the bed was uncomfortable and they had the worst pillows ever. Very flat and very cheap. Both concierge’s on the 7th floor were exceptional and made the situation tolerable but I am still unhappy with the outcome.

Last minute stay, excellent grounds, customer service, and rooms were quiet and clean. A little confusing to navigate the resort at first but figured it out with a little help. The pools are excellent…open at 7am with exceptional hill country sunrise views…. The slides are geared more towards the younger kiddos (12 and younger) but there are 3 other pools that are incredible (including adults only). There is self parking but you still pay $30. Beautiful resort close to UTSA, Six Flags, and La Cantera Shops.

This was our 5th year for our annual girls trip. We absolutely love it here. Everyone is so kind and happy to help. Resort is spotless. My only complaint was we asked for more towels for the pool area and were told we can only have 1 even though there were 50 folded towels available. If it’s a problem i have a solution.. get bigger towels!! Also, maybe have someone washing them throughout the day.

Under maintained Grounds & Broken Amenities: The lawns were poorly kept, and major signature water features, specifically the fountains in the Plaza San Saba and across the main pool areas, were broken and non-operational. Trashy Corporate Takeovers: The central Esparza Lawn was entirely booked out for a loud private event that completely destroyed the resort's peaceful atmosphere. Overnight guests were subjected to event attendees walking through main family spaces dressed in Uncle Sam costumes and provocative lady liberty latex mini dresses. This environment was completely inappropriate for a high-end luxury hotel and utterly ruined our family’s annual holiday. No Hot Water: Unbelievably for a luxury resort, our hotel room shower never got hot water. Paying premium rates to endure cold showers is completely unacceptable.Failed Family Programming: La Cantera used to offer fantastic, engaging family events throughout Father's Day weekendlike petting zoos and piñata events that made our 5-hour drive worth it. Instead, Hilton advertised soap and candle-making events that are hardly appeal

That said, the rooms feel a bit dated, the beds are not luxe, and the bedding feels sparse. Aside from the patio restaurant which had a fabulous steak and waiter, the food quality on site was surprisingly poor considering the $600+ nightly rate. The chicken was rubbery, produce lacked freshness, and sides tasted canned. My fiancé’s chicken wings were served cold inside twice. We kept dining on property hoping for a better experience, but were consistently disappointed. I’d recommend eating elsewhere. We were a bit frustrated by the concierge’s misguidance. She directed us to the golf course restaurant after a long travel day, only for us to arrive as it was closed. The golf pub appeared understaffed, likely due to a conference or private event. The bartender was doing her best while managing a large crowd, and we felt for her. Her lack of support resulted in her seeming stressed, which took away from the overall light and joyful vibe you prefer when on vacation. Not her fault. We did enjoy staying on the SEVEN floor. The lounge access, snacks, happy hour, and evening offerings were a nice touch, and the attendant was warm, lovely, attentive, and welcoming. Again, the spa is the highlight! Go as a couple. Go alone. Do not skip it! My massage was 10/10 and the amenities were outstanding.

The property was beautiful with lots of things to do and restaurant choices; however, it all comes with a hefty price tag. Something I was not prepared for was the nightly charge for parking (self-parking and/or valet) and the hike from the parking lot carrying all of my luggage to the front doors. In hot, humid San Antonio, I was gassed before we even checked in. We attended a wedding on the hotel property and were thankful for the complimentary shuttle service to the venue. We also enjoyed the pool and hut tub in the evening. Having stayed at several all-inclusive resorts in Mexico and Jamaica, La Cantera had a similar vibe but was definitely NOT all-inclusive. Everything costed extra on top of the basic room price. Saying that, I would stay here again for a special occasion, but if I need a simple overnight stay, there are definitely more affordable hotels.

The knob on top of the faucet is not attached. They are both heavy and make plenty of noise on the counter/ floor when it falls off at 3am. They both fell off. Breakfast was an absolute waste. Even with a reservation we waited 40 minutes for a table. Not because they were that busy, but because over half of the dining room had dirty tables. Pool employees were brought in to bus the tables. Although this was a beautiful hotel, the service was very unprofessional! After paying $2000 for 2 rooms and 2 nights, I was charged for room service that was never delivered to the room nor ordered. It was likely a hotel staff member that booked another room under my name for 4 hours, ordered room service and left. The customer service representatives had no clue what was going on and said I signed the receipt when I never did. What a poor experience! Be sure to check your receipts when you check out

The staff is great! Very friendly and accomodating. There are a lot of things for kids to do. The gym needs to be updated - worn out and not clean. It is located in a nice area of San Antonio. The rooms were pretty clean. The hallways and lobby areas were FREEZING.
