The lazy river is only 3 feet deep so easy/safe to manage little kids. Another kid pool with small slides and shallow water was a big hit. Good family vacation for those with little ones. On site food options very expensive.

Water park was good value for the money, cabana staff and a few of waiters very attentive. Majority of staff entirely unfriendly and unhelpful. Had a hiccup on our second night where we were mistakenly checked out of our room by the front desk and they “lost our reservation.” Breakfast buffet not worth the outrageous price tag, and grab and go breakfast was gate kept so hard even the staff didn’t know about it even though it was 1/4 the price of the staggeringly average breakfast buffet at cibolo moon (would check this out before going to buffet). Check-in was at 4, rooms were not ready until 5:45, for the price tag this is unacceptable, no compensation was offered. Hate to gripe this hard but for the price and the “luxury resort” label I’d say there’s a reasonable assumption of at least meeting if not exceeding expectations.

The family slides are fun. The kids love it and we all head a fun time. But stupid expensive. From room prices to food. For 3 nights you can book all inclusive and airfare to Cancun. So you have to really make sure you come early on the day you check in and stay as late as you can when checking out, to get the most out of the place.

From the moment we arrived the staff was wonderful. The room was comfortable and clean, the amenities were excellent. We brought our toddler and 10 year old and they had a blast at the waterpark. We ordered room service for breakfast, lunch and dinner for the entirety of our stay and the food was always hot, fresh and most importantly delicious. The kids and adults loved the pizza from the pizza restaurant downstairs as well. The cleaning staff made sure we always had fresh towels and it was appreciated. The bellman that helped us with our luggage cart at the end of the stay was so nice, he heard my toddler ask for chocolate chip cookies and he ran to go get him some for the drive home. Thank you so much Arthur! We are looking forward to our next stay!

Something I need when I stay anywhere. Great experience overall. We had dinner at Cibolo Moon. My kids got the buffet and I ordered the salmon and Brussels sprouts.

The lazy river, piña coladas, beach for the littles and the pizza. Had to wait in line 30 minutes to register, we waited 1 1/2 hours as the room was not ready at 4pm. Waited for another 1 1/2 hours for our luggage and requested/reserved pack and play to be brought up to our rooms, and by the time we went down to lazy river-it and the bar were closed. We lost one whole vacation day! Carpet in rooms were old and patched. Beds were so hard and uncomfortable. Some people at pools had snacks and yeti type cups that were not allowed, I would have like to have those items during my stay!

Very nice facility outside of the hustle and bustle of the city. The room was clean and large, the staff were friendly. Plenty of free parking. There were numerous restaurants and bars. The pool was amazing, there were not very many people as we were there during the week but heard it can get quite crazy on the weekends. The only negative comment I had was there was construction going on for 1/2 of the hotel - refacing I believe and when we go there were told that there would be construction noise between 8-5 every day, and no water available in our room the first day after 8:30. It would have been nice to know that before we got there.

Very nice place and room is large and comphy but the construction was way too loud and noisy. Sports bar had great burgers but service was extremely slow, the TVs were on full blast (volume), so we could not have a conversation at the table. Loud enough that we could hear the waitress speak, either. Each night we’d hear screaming girls running up and down the halls around 11pm, which was annoying. We did see several obnoxious teens by the pool, play fighting got out of control and one person hit his head hard on the concrete edge. I just kept my headphones on to drown out the nonsense. It was a cheap hotel (we booked months in advance), so I wasn’t surprised that it wasn’t a four star resort. We usually go to places that are twice as expensive but incredibly quiet with a large adults only area (pool and hotel floor). Overall it was a good trip and recommended if you are okay with the issues I stated above. I’d strongly recommend not going on a Friday night and Saturday since it was way too loud and busy with several conferences going on.

In addition to construction on half of the resort and one of the common areas, the water park was in desperate need of a bottle of bleach and a good pressure washing. Bandaids, algae, and water that felt “thick” from the amount of sunscreen contamination made it significantly less enjoyable. This was also the second consecutive year that the property has messed up the room reservations for our group. Even though we’ve called a few days early to confirm connecting rooms for our large group, when we have gotten there to check in the reservation has been changed. They’ve told us they can see the notes clearly indicating the intention, but that something had been changed in the system without explanation. This year, the change cost us the upgraded room we had been promised. In a 3 night stay, housekeeping never serviced our room. The only time they stopped by was at 6:00 pm on one of the days - while we were getting cleaned for dinner plans. Overall, just a huge, preventable bummer from a property that used to feel truly special.

The pros: helpful/friendly staff/clean pools/clean rooms The cons: half resort is under construction right now and the construction is loud, and the property is so packed with people on weekends - it's hard for the staff to maintain clean property grounds - lots of empty glasses and trash left around

  • Mario Jun 2026 · via hotels.com

The hotel was not very clean, I got to my room about 5pm and at 11pm there were still the same wine and drink glasses on the floor of my hallway. Every trash can and table also had wine and drink glasses left on them. My concern was just the glasses in the floor throughout the halls because of all the children. Lastly, while in the pool, a waitress came to share that it was “last call” and took someone’s order. I attempted to place an order for my family and she responded with “um, this isn’t my section” which left me puzzled considering she just took the order of the lady next to me. We went Father’s Day weekend so maybe we will have a better experience on a non-holiday weekend. My children did enjoy all the amenities.

Our stay was 4 day with family of 4. The first two days we had to go through three different managers to get our room cleaned! We were told first time reached out, previous to management conversations, that they were not "prioritizing already checked in rooms, only prioritizing rooms that had been checked out as that was more important ". Mind you we had 3 adults and tween in our party so cleaning wasn't optional for our party...with a $520 price tag each night. It took 2 days to get to finally get our room cleaned after basically begging for it to be done. Amber, front desk manager, finally took care of us and got us on schedule last two days with a $150 comp on bill. Once it was finally addressed room servicing was great and very tidy! Food at 18 Oaks was amazing!! Cannot recommend enough! Be sure to book on OpenTable for reservations as walking in isn't viable option to guarantee a table.

First of all, we were not made aware that the majority of the resort was under construction and that between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm, there would be nonstop construction which meant jackhammers vibrating the entire resort. I understand that remodeling is required as I’m a contractor myself but a warning would have been appropriate under the circumstances. And maybe the fact that our flights were delayed and we didn’t arrive until 4:00 am didn’t help with the waking up to jackhammers at 9:00 am. And an afternoon nap was out of the question… Secondly, there’s no free WiFi in the rooms unless you sign up for their program and book directly through their site. We booked our trip through Expedia so we had to pay for WiFi. Motel 6 has free WiFi… Another issue is the fact that there’s no snacks after the gift store closes. My family wanted some snacks (chips and candy) at 9:15 pm, but was told we were out of luck. And the drink machine on our floor was out of drinks. Most disappointing part was the $140 t-bone that I ordered at 18 Oaks. Worst one I’ve ever eaten. Ordered it medium and it was well done with zero flavor and 69% fat, didn’t even look like at-bone. We did enjoy the pool area and the breakfast buffet. Room was clean, bed was comfy. All staff was friendly and helpful. However, I would not stay again, but would get the day pass for the pool area.

I have been a visitor to the JW since 2014. While it’s great and I mean fantastic place to be with young children, I have noticed over the years that the property has become increasingly overcrowded. You pay a lot for the amenities and I understand that; the property itself is beautiful and that costs money to maintain however, there are just way too many people. So if you don’t mind feeling like you are at an amusement park this is a perfect place to stay with your family.

In the past, only the cabana area required an upgrade, which seemed fair and reasonable. This time, however, it appeared that nearly a third of the standard loungers in the common pool area were also reserved for upgraded guests. Considering that room rates have already increased significantly, I found this change disappointing. One of the attractions of staying at a resort of this caliber is having access to its amenities without feeling that more and more areas are being restricted behind additional fees. I have always enjoyed staying at this property and hope management will reconsider this policy, as it negatively impacts the overall guest experience.

We will definitely go again. Lots of activities going on inside and out for families. All the staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful.

For the price we paid, the experience didn’t feel worth it. The staff were not very friendly, and overall it didn’t meet our expectations. I wouldn’t go back, it felt quite overrated

We have stayed here a few times and were sad to see it’s original rustic style changed to a modernized look. The rustic style was one of the reasons we enjoyed staying there. We came for spring break and some of the amenities were not guest or weather prepared. The game room had all out of order signs but only two or three games at most working. The outdoor lounge area only had two heaters set up and there were pipe leaks dripping onto the giant checkers play area making it a hazardous mess. Our room, hallways and lobby area were pretty clean. The staff overall was great and Daniel from the poolside waitstaff was awesome and friendly!

Enjoyed that it was secluded and safe environment for my kids to get some independence. The staff was friendly. My kids thoroughly enjoyed going down and getting their own breakfast on Saturday - the staff was helpful for them to learn how to charge the room too. Would come back in a heartbeat. Maybe next year!

The rooms were cleaned and the staff engages as you pass them. Family friendly with lots of activities for the kids to do on the resort. One of the slides at the waterpark was down so we didnt get to get on it during our stay.

The staff were all exceptional. The room was clean and comfortable. Our only complaint was the pool area. The adults only pool area hot tub had dead bugs floating in it and so many leaves in the main pool. I would think charging what you charge you would have a full time maintenance/ groundskeeper skimming the pool and hot tubs a couple times a day.

Very nice property with good amenities. Rooms are a little pricey for the room you get. Be prepared for the resort and other fees added at checkout.
