The hotel has a great location near attractions, with friendly staff and clean rooms. However, parking is a common issue, with high fees and limited space. Some guests also reported problems with air conditioning, small rooms, and breakfast not being included in the room rate.

Had a problem initially but it was addressed immediately. Parking is expensive everywhere so plan on walking or renting scooters. Make sure to thank & tip Vanessa for getting a hot free breakfast ready every morning.

From the start, the parking situation was highly frustrating. There was no standard parking available, and we were left with the choice of paying $50 for valet or $122 for nearby daily self-parking. Furthermore, upon arrival, I had to wait 10 minutes for my room to become available. The issues continued inside the room. The television did not work, and when I tried to call the operator for assistance, no one answered. I had to go down to the lobby myself to get help. Eventually, a housekeeper came to the room and had to climb on top of the furniture just to plug the television cord in. Shortly after, I discovered that the room's remote control was also broken. Once again, I called the operator twice without success, forcing me to return to the lobby and wait for someone to assist me at the front desk. When I explained my frustration to the staff member on duty, she was polite but informed me that the maintenance team had left the property at 4:00 PM and that she could not be of much help, other than sending another remote control with a housekeeper. This has been the worst experience I have ever had at a hotel. Given the lack of basic amenities, the broken equipment, and the unresponsive guest services, I request that management review this matter. Sincerely, Maria Gil

The room was clean and the staff were friendly. It's very close to the Riverwalk and you are right down town. The only draw back was parking. They only offer valet and it's $45 a night. I do wish they had other parking options but but I definitely enjoyed my stay and will stay here again.

So the pictures of the hotel look amazing on the website but its a whole different story in reality. The hotel looks run down and dirty. There were 2 people there part of the staff that were very nice. There was one in the night shift who was an A**. He would not help at all. Our room was so hot , he would not give us a fan , when the guy before him had told us that he would leave one there for us. I was not impressed. Their breakfast was good. The room they put us in was so small and on the website it looked big. Dont be fooled by the pics. Also just be prepared to pay 60.00 a day for parking. Although I was able to speak to a guy there and he gave me a small discount after he saw how upset and dusgusted I was with the false advertisement. The only advantage there was how close everything was to the hotel.

Unfortunately, my stay at this property was extremely disappointing. From cleanliness issues to poor service, I was honestly very unimpressed with the overall experience and would not recommend staying here. One of the most concerning issues was finding human feces in the elevator, which was extremely unhygienic and unacceptable for a hotel. We also needed a shaver during our stay and discovered that the room phone was not working, so we were unable to contact the front desk directly. When we called the front desk using a cell phone, we were told that we would have to come downstairs ourselves to pick it up rather than having it brought to the room. The valet service was another major disappointment. Our vehicle frequently took 10 minutes or more to be brought around, and we had to communicate with the valet several times before our car was retrieved. I specifically chose to pay the additional $40 valet fee because I wanted the convenience of having my vehicle safely stored and readily available. Unfortunately, the valet service made me feel less comfortable about the safety of my belongings, not more. What concerned me even more was noticing through my vehicle’s app this morning that my car had been left unlocked. After paying extra specifically for valet service because I was concerned about the security of my belongings, this was extremely unsettling and completely defeated the purpose of using valet in the fi

Front desk was very helpful in switching our room. Our first room had a musty smell which my allergies would not tolerate. Switched our room and it was fine. We didn’t use the pool but it was definitely smaller than I expected. The water pressure in the shower was terrible. It is a historic building so we were aware that it might not be as updated as we normally would have booked. The complementary breakfast was decent. We didn’t eat at the restaurant for dinner. It is about a 5 minute walk to the Alamo and the river walk. If you are a light sleeper be aware you can hear the street noise until after 1130 pm. All in all we had a great time visiting San Antonio and staying at the hotel 1914

The pictures and the price were very misleading. I paid almost $200 for one-night, a last minute booking. When I arrived I found that the hotel was dirty. Smudges everywhere, dirt on the floors in the lobby, everything looking worse for wear compared to the (probably AI edited) pictures on Expedia. The room I was assigned was a single king on the 7th floor and in the hallways the carpets were caked with dirt and lifting off of the floor on the steps. When I got into the room it was TINY, dated, dilapidated, and smelled like an absolute ashtray. Mind you, I was not expecting a brand new hotel and actually like historic hotels generally. I was disgusted and returned to the front desk. The clerk did offer me a bigger room, but I was less upset about the room size and more so completely grossed out and dissatisfied at that point so I declined. I am still waiting, trying to get some kind of refund. I would not recommend. They desperately need to clean and update this hotel, or lower the prices and quit catfishing with their photos.

The room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast is typical of a continetal hotel offering. The valet parking is confusing, unnecessary, and not affiliated with the hotel. The lot is adjacent, and parking is easy and cheaper than the valet. Do not stay on the ground floor as staff congregates by the room windows during their breaks--we had to ask them not to talk loudly/yell outside our window DAILY over the course of almost a week.

We found carpet beetles in our bedding. The hotel room reeked of Indian food due to there being an Indian food restaurant under the hotel. Even with a heavy duty room freshener spray, the smell remained. The hotel is old and run down. Elevators were small and could fit max two people with two luggage’s. It also smelt dirty and disgusting. Walls are also very thin. We could hear music and noise from outside til late at night. Would only recommend this place if you need something cheap and have zero standards.

The place is old and outdated. Some of the Older historical hotels are in much better shape. There is no place to pull into for valet, its just on the street and hard to get to. The toilet was not clean, a bag of trash in the sink, and a dirty towel on the sink counter.

The property was nice and mostly clean. My shower did have some hair so that was a bit gross. My fridge was not working properly. The AC didn’t seem to freshen up the room according to its setting. I did not feel comfortable using the public parking next-door. I had the hardest time with valet parking. They process payment and requesting of vehicle through an app, though it seems to breakdown every day. Even though I had previously requested my vehicle, I still had to tell the staff to go get my vehicle. If not, they would not go get it. One of the days I came back like at 11:20 PM and there was no valet available. Keep in mind I was coming back, meaning that had I needed to go out at that time, I would not be able to get my vehicle. The most I waited for my vehicle was about 45 minutes. And on top of that it was about $153 for three nights. Pretty pricey for the poor service. The night setting is loud. You can hear everything through the walls. Music and street traffic mostly. Over all the stay was good.

The room was ok, but I didn’t like the fact that the mattress was heavily stained on both sides. I check everything when staying at a hotel, and better mattress protection would’ve prevented that. That’s why I bring my own mattress protection and sheets. And the remote wasn’t working properly, and the fact that the room doors were so close together. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to no one because you have to pay for parking, and on top of that, they expect you to tip. What a rip-off! This was my 1st and last time staying here.

Our A/C unit was dripping and the room smelled a little damp - front desk staff did not seem concerned. The hotel itself is a beautiful historic building that has been very well maintained. While the rooms are on the smaller side, that's to be expected in a property with this much character. The rooms were exceptionally clean and comfortable, and since most visitors spend their days exploring San Antonio, the room size was never an issue for us. The complimentary breakfast buffet was excellent, with plenty of options and a great way to start the day. The attached Indian restaurant was an unexpected highlight of our stay. The food was outstanding, and I highly recommend the Chicken Tikka Masala. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and professional throughout our visit. Check-in and check-out were both quick and seamless. Parking is valet only, but at $45 per night I felt it was worth it for the convenience, security, and in-and-out access. Overall, Hotel 1914 offers a great combination of history, cleanliness, excellent service, and a fantastic location. I would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting San Antonio.

This is a great little hotel for a very reasonable price for downtown. The rooms and elevator are small. For the elevator, it would carry about 2 people with luggage. Everything has been updated perfectly. Knowing this is an old Hotel makes the small rooms size make sense. The breakfast was good. It’s in an attached Indian restaurant, but is the good, standard hotel hot breakfast. This hotel Is within walking distance of places like riverwalk, Aztec theater, majestic theater, and several downtown hotels spots. This was a great choice for us!

We were given a room right next to the lobby, which was right next to the street knowing that we had a small child and we were forced to lsiten to city honk all night due to the basketball game.

However, there were several serious issues affecting rest. First, the room faces the street, and noise from pedestrians and traffic is noticeable. We stayed on the first floor, and the windows are fully transparent without any privacy film. Without closing the curtains, people outside can clearly see into the room, which reduces privacy. The most severe issue occurred last night. Due to a major basketball-related controversy downtown, the area became extremely crowded. Numerous vehicles gathered on the streets, repeatedly honking horns loudly and continuously, with shouting and yelling from pedestrians. The noise lasted from around 9 PM until approximately 2 AM. I tried to contact the front desk to change rooms, but was told no rooms were available. This was one of the most difficult nights I have experienced during travel in many years, and I was unable to fall asleep until around 3 AM. I would suggest the hotel: * Inform guests about potential street noise in advance * Improve sound insulation or window privacy * Provide warnings during major city events that may affect noise levels I will also make sure to note noise sensitivity when booking in the future.

-King with “Sofa bed” was not a sofa bed, more like a foldable chair that was very uncomfortable for my son. -The bathroom sink was very slow to drain

This was a nice place to stay, it was clean and comfortable. The outside surroundings could get a little loud at times, but it wasn't too bad. The breakfast was ok, plus it was free. Getting around on foot was manageable for what we wanted to explore downtown.

There's a paid parking lot right next to the hotel. A lot of shady characters around. One guy was passed out right there and there were other homeless and drunk folk loitering around. The hotel itself is at the end of the road and the staff mentioned that even they don't venture out in the other direction. If you're on a budget you could stay here but if you can afford a better place, you can find places to stay in better areas. Proximity to the river walk isn't a perk exclusive to the hotel, the whole town is along the river walk, so just pick any place and you'd be by the river walk. This place is just a block away from Alamo, though and other touristy places though.

The building itself isn’t much to look at but It is in a convenient location, extremely clean & a short walk to the riverwalk, not to mention, a full breakfast is included with their very reasonable rates.
