Hampton Inn & Suites San Antonio-Downtown/Market Square

Is a great place to stay if you are not planning to walk to the Market Place or the River walk. The distance walking to either one is about 20 minutes and streets are close to feel comfortable and safe during the night. That was the main reason we stay at the property because of been 7 minutes walk and is not. Also breakfast not much options, very simple. Staff are very nice and very helpful and room is clean and quiet. But the distance to River walk was disappointing and we had to pay extra money to park closer.

The fact that HEB is just walking distance, it is a plus when you have kids with you. The staff was friendly, welcoming, and provided great service throughout our stay. The only downside was the room. I recommend asking for one of the remodeled rooms, as the older, non-remodeled rooms have a noticeable musty smell and could definitely use updating. Other than that, we had a good experience thanks to the excellent customer service. They need to step it up with the breakfast, when you are on vacation having a good breakfast before you go on with your day is important my kids all they had was an apple because there was not much to choose from.

Had to move nightstand to find plugs near bed to charge (none were easily accessible on either side). Water pressure I. Shower was terrible.

Large, clean bathrooms with many towels and high-quality shampoo and shower gel. However, the mattress is not very comfortable, and the pillows are an offence to the notion of hospitality. Absolutely terrible pillows. Breakfast was ok but nothing extraordinary. Overall, it was a good experience; I definitely recommend it .

My room appeared old and haggard. The nightstand draw wouldn't stay shut. The headboards were chipped and looked very worn. The amenities are great... this was the first time I was charged for parking. In the past parking was free.

Old and not clean. Beware they charge for parking on their own lot. Total money grab. Not a protected lot they have signs all over the place they are not responsible for anything. It’s just a regular lot they make you pay for. Pool was ice cold. Rooms are very out dated and needs renovations badly. AC would not go below 73. Room smelled very musty. Gym was good. Don’t believe the photos they are probably 20 years old. Definitely won’t stay there again.

The location was fine. I didn't get up in time for breakfast but that was ok. I didnt like that my room stink and my tub was not working properly. It rained the next day and water started coming through my ceiling. Once the maintenance guy came and looked at the ceiling I had got a call to be moved to a better room.

Great hotel and rooms. A little off the beaten path, but a short walk to the action.

We stay at Hampton often. This location is a little more run down than others. Still acceptable, we didn't have any problems.

OMG!!! THE BEST! Totally recommend. Even the kitchen lady, she was so kind and let us know it was about time to close kitchen. She was awesome! The front desk people were awesome as well. Great experience, and the rooms were WOW!! Remarkable and soooo comfortable! This is our place 4 ever!!!

Very nice overall.

It was conveniently located to the Alamodome, which is where we were going for the event. There was an H-E-B across the street, which is super convenient if you want snack snacks, or drinks. Staff was very friendly and accommodating, and it was clean. Easy place to stay.

Enjoyed everything

For me a clean room is important and it was terrible, a bad odor and the bathroom was dirty. The breakfast was so simple and poor.

Our stay was wonderful!!! We got a beautiful room, then later decided to stay one more night and got a completely new room and wow!! It was the best! Everything was brand new, loved it. I just hope people take care of these rooms. We had a great experience. Everything was close by, walked everyday to riverwalk, drove to zoo and sure plan to stay here again! WONDERFUL!

Breakfast was not very good. Eggs were watery, bacon and sausage was undercooked and the potatoes were horrible.

I wish I could have breakfast but unfortunately I was denied from checking in to the hotel because I was told that my reservation was canceled so i drove 4 hrs. to San Antonio Tx not knowing that hotel manager desided to cancelled my reservation with out notice

Everything was perfect.

The hotel has great amenities, staff, and rooms layouts. The finishes and furnishings are a bit run down, but, apparently, in the process of being renovated.

Under renovation but didn't bother us at all. Breakfast is always great here. And front desk is always kind and helpful. Bed was very comfortable and temperature was to our liking. Glad I stayed here I will definitely stay here again!

Good place to stay for a close travel to sites

Everything was great. Walking distance to the Riverwalk and Market Square. The only thing is that the room was a little small for us.

The only thing bad was that the a/c unit in the room mad the room feel kind of humid a bit

The hotel was in fairly good condition and the top floor was being renovated during my stay. It’s possible that there will be renovations to the lower floors as they could use a bit of an upgrade. It would have been nice if the TV was a smart tv so that I could log in to my streaming accounts. The staff were friendly, courteous, and helpful. The breakfast was decent although it could have been better in terms of more options. Overall, the hotel was great for what I needed to accomplish. It was close to my priority destination and easy to navigate to local sites.

The room was comfortable and clean. We stayed 5 nights and found the convenience of having the HEB market less than a block away a big plus!

The room had a big hole in the bathroom, the continental breakfast was awful. I have stayed at a Hampton inn before and never was the breakfast this awful.

The only thing is you are charged for parking and I don’t think this is normal I payed to stay but yet had to pay to park this needs to be included when they advertise the amount of the stay and include the words to park is an extra fee

The bathroom sink had a horrible leak and water went all over the floor then the next day after fixing that the hand held shower head broke while I was giving my handicap husband a shower. Just expected better room condition.

Location!!! Close to shopping, river walk and restaurants. Staff was very friendly. Was worth our trip from Santa Fe NM, Room was clean, comfortable and spacious.

Breakfast was great, wide selection from hot buffet to cereal, breads and pastries, fresh fruits and yogurts. Juices and coffees. Everything was fresh and wonderful. Beds were very comfortable and the air conditioner worked extremely well. Grocery store across the street. Would recommend this property to everyone looking for a great deal. Located within walking distance of restaurants, River walk and so much more!

I did not use al of the amenities at all, spent one night at the hotel. The bed was ok, room was fairly quiet for being down town. Breakfast was ok, they did not have a microwave or fresh fruit, coffee was unexpectedly really good. Most of the time hotel coffee is tolerable. Price was great, you have a good day. Thanks

Hotel is in need of updates. Neighborhood is not the best, traffic noise is bad as location is on a very busy intersection. Website not accurate in terms of location proximity to Riverwalk and Alamo. Breakfast was good, staff was very nice.

It was walking distance to the Market Square and Riverwalk. Also, there is an HEB across the street which was perfect. The breakfast had a great selection of food. The rooms and hotel were nice and clean. I would definitely stay here again. They also had an indoor pool which is not common in most hotels. But we didn't have time to go swimming on this stay.

Parking was tough , staff was nice breakfast was good

The only complaint, which we did not tell the receptionist, was that the handicap bathroom had a strong smell of urine emanating from the floor drain in the room, not the shower drain. We went out and bought some Pine Sol and Lysol spray which helped a bit, but we also covered the drain with a towel which really helped to alleviate the smell. Other than that odor, the room was clean, and the smell did not leak into the rest of the room.

At first we were disappointed because it seemed like a little far from the action downtown but the walk wasn’t bad. Parking area was small and 1 limit car per room might have an impact on families meeting up. Staff was super friendly, breakfast was good and rooms were big and AC was very good. Would come back.

Breakfast was just waffles and eggs with some sasauge and potatoes. Some fruit and cereal, been to hotels with a better variety of breakfast. The parking was crazy we had to park next door at a mechanic shop due to not enough parking

Room was cleean. Staff was friendly. Requested a double queen room but got a king with a pull out. Lets just say the kids did not sleep comfortably and di not have blankets. Also, when i booked the room i selected the option to pay in cash upon arrival. Well once i arrived i was informed the do not accept cash.

Good for a quick trip downtown! Breakfast is not very good but everything else was great for a two day cheer comp.

The bath tub was clogged. Informed staff at around 7:00 PM. Was told that would send technician to fix. Informed that I would be out for dinner. Staff confirmed no problem. Come back at 10 PM, problem was still there. Called hotel and was told the technician has left, there was no other room available for change. Asked to come and see manager next morning. Next day when checking out, I was told manager not working until Monday. I had to pay for almost $300 for a night that could not taking a shower!

The rooms were clean, the bed were comfortable. My granddaughter and I enjoyed the indoor pool very much. It was clean and the water temperature was perfect. We did bring our room towels the second night as the pool towels were small and threadbare. Breakfast each morning was varied, but there were hot and cold options both days.

Was there four days for an Air Force graduation great area walking distance of the river plenty of restaurants and the room was outstanding would definitely go back. You can always count on the Hampton property.

Typical hotel room. It was spacious enough for our needs. Daily room service was great. The hotel was located in a good downtown location, close enough to walk to the Riverwalk and other local places. I would stay here again.
