Best Western Plus Lackland Hotel & Suites

The property was a little dated and the gym was out of order. Shower water pressure could have been better. Property was clean, staff was welcoming and helpful. Overall stay was good and I would stay again if in the area

My family and I really enjoyed our stay!

Elevator was not working. Husband was on toilet and water from ceiling started raining on his head. Had to place pail to catch water! No maintenance was available & no other rooms to switch too!!!!! Smell of mold was strong in room

The “plus” at this Best Western Plus means “plus” roaches. The elevator was broken, the place seemed dark and dank. Stayed on the 4th floor and it was very drafty. Sounded like a storm was arriving. I woke up to roaches. Left within hours. Never again!

We were in town for Air Force basic training graduation. Staff was very helpful in terms of updates right from check in as there were some changes due to weather. Staff opens up breakfast early on BMT graduation days to accommodate early delay to the base. Hotel is just minutes from the Valley Hi gate which is very convenient. Unfortunately elevator was down during our stay but staff did allow for fully refunded cancellation for those that could not/would not use the stairs while the elevator was out. Room was overall clean. Floors were quiet. Work out are was small but adequate. Overall would stay here again if I have business at Lackland AFB.

Elevator was not working

The lift was out of service and there was zero cleaning. When I asked, they told me to just move to the 4th floor without lift access. I also saw a few cockroaches

Arrived at this hotel and was informed that the elevator was inoperable and they had no hot water so clean linen could not be provided. Did not know any of this information until I arrived. Trying to get a refund through third-party and hotel was extremely complicated.

Location was good.

It was a nice place but elevator was not working. Was asked if I was notified before checking in and I wasn’t. They said it has been out for a month already

My room 221 had a used bottled water. It didn’t have one side glass door to the shower. And the when we showered the water was splashing out. The mirror in the entrance was also dirty.

The rooms are very cool and clean, didn't understand the half glass door in shower, water all over the floor. Elevators were not working having to carry bags up stairs and ice machine not working on our floor

We arrived at our check in time, what I didn’t know was I had to pay a deposit. Lady said it’s posted on the website. I must’ve missed it! Then the lady says the elevators are broken. I told her there’s no way to go to the 2nd, 3rd floor with 4 small children. So she “finds” me a downstairs room. About 1am my grandson wakes up says he’s HOT. Room is really hot. I try to use room phone to call front office they can’t hear me. I use my cell phone to call and tell them air conditioning in room isn’t working. Young guy from front desk comes to reset it. About 4am room is so hot. I move everyone to living-room. We did enjoy the pool, hot tub & breakfast was VERY GOOD! Staff were friendly. Building clean. Only if elevator is working we’ll stay again. But overall I DO recommend is HOTEL!

The shower lookes poorly maintained. Th metal bars throughout the bathroom were rusted. The shower itself looked dirty. The room had a funny smell every time we entered. The most inconvenient part was the elevator being out of order and being placed in a room on the 3rd floor. It was a busy weekend and most hotels in the area were booked, so offering to cancel the reservation wasn't practical at that point. There was a sign that there were bees in the stairwell which was also pretty alarming. On a positive note, the staff was nice and very helpful. The breakfast was also good.

Clean room, elevator didn’t work but everything was nice.

Everything was good except the elevators but we were aware about it .. it was close to where we need it be .. I wouldn’t mine coming back ! Thank you , to the ladies there they were very kind!!

First off, the elevator was broken, and we had to take the stairs the entirety of the trip. Secondly, there was two sets of stairs, one on each side of the hotel. However, on one side, there were several signs saying they were having issues with bees on various floors and not to use those stairs. That was very concerning, considering the fact that our floor was affected, and I wasn't sure if there would be bees coming into the hallways. Thirdly, the rooms were clean for the most part, but the tiles in the showers were very rusted. The pipes behind the toilet were showing as well, so it didn't make me feel the most comfortable. When we also checked the ceiling fan, there was lots of dust; we refused to turn it on because the bed was right under. Lastly, there was trash from a previous guest of that room left in the fridge, which grossed us out since we didn't know how long it was there. Although the staff were nice and the lobby was pretty clean, there were many issues with the room and overall facility. Not sure if I'd be back, but at the time, this was the most convenient place to be.

The hotel itself could use some TLC and upgrades. Stained carpets in the halls, room has several areas that have been neglected. No stopper in bathroom sink, shower head that drips for quite awhile after being turned off, serious attention needed to floor, door frame and tile at the front of the shower; there is previous water leak damage that has been neglected and allowed to get worse and looks terrible.

Our experience during our stay was not great. We traveled with elderly parents and we were never made aware the elevators were not working, carrying heavy luggage and helping parents up to fourth floor was challenging. Our first night we saw a couple of cockroaches in the room and to top it off the stairway was full of bees, unfortunately with elevator not working that was the only means getting out and into the hotel.

For a quick night stay, not bad. But room felt and smelled very wet. When you sat in bed sheets felt wet, very humid. Toilet chain was off which could have been a one off. Ac in room was the exact same temp no matter what you adjusted it too. Elevators didn’t work and seemed like it they hadn’t in a long time and In two days we never saw anyone fixing them. Again, for a regular stay with no high expectations in a safe spot this is it Anything else you are expecting won’t be this place. Breakfast was okay.

Second time I stay here and have enjoyed it both times

The staff was wonderful. They were having a hard time because the elevator was out of order. It is an older hotel, but our room was clean, and the bed was comfortable. Overall, it was a good stay.

The elevator is broken and I had to carry all my luggage to the 4th floor without any help. That was so terrible. The carpet in my room is dirty, when I first got to the room, it smells bad. I won’t never come back again. That’s the bad experience.

Whoever thought a half glass shower wall was a good idea should be forced to make repairs on all damaged rooms; and, stand naked under the shower head waiting for the hot water before performing those repairs. The water drained slowly. There was about an inch of water on the shower floor after showering. The bathroom floor was slightly drier. Also, the elevator was not operational. This could happen to any property. They were offering refunds if guests wanted to find another place to stay. As I was packing up I found out the elevator had been down for more than 3 weeks. This is unacceptable. I happen to receive a 1st floor room otherwise I would have had to find another place. Finding another room 12 hours prior to BMT graduation ceremonies would have been difficult. The sofa bed needed to be used during my stay. It opened but it wouldn't close. Maintenance got it to close but I didn't want to have to go through that each day. Besides, the couch was probably more comfortable.

Upon arrival, I was not placed in the room type selected and paid for in advance. The pictures on website look really nice and the site has a rating of wonderful. I typically do not stay in hotels with ratings less than wonderful, excellent or exceptional, especially when its a 3-star hotel. I've stayed in plenty 3-stars that were truly wonderful and above. However, this location should not be categorized as wonderful. The room decor is old, the lamp shade in our room was torn and stained, one of the towels was stained, carpet needs cleaning. The elevator from the first floor was not working and the concierge had to let you up each time you needed to move from the first floor to above floors, most times during ourcstay we took stairs to third floor. I requested/paid for an executive king suite with walk-in shower. I was told there weren't any available and was placed in a double queen with regular tub/shower in which the shower amenities are in a rusting state and needs replacing. Overall, i will not stay here again. I should've followed my first mind to reserve a room by the Riverwalk.

Great stay. No complaints. Stumbled upon some wildlife there. That was about the most exciting/exhilarating thing overall. For context hotel is located in a wooded area so its to be expected that wildlife would be in said area. We ran into a juvenile rattlesnake, western diamondback to be exact. Front desk was alerted. Hopefully they relocated said snake over something less savory such as ending its life. Snakes eat pests so i let them be.

Felt damp and muggy. Sheets felt damp. I’m assuming from the humidity . After pulling my bedsheets back you can clearly see hair . sheets had not been replaced. after speaking to the staff in the front, they were very accommodating and changed my room quickly. Second room was not very much more pleasing still very humid in the room and shower floor I would never go bar feet. Just didn’t look safe. I wouldn’t even go bare feet on the carpet. Extremely disappointed pictures made it look extremely nice and low kept. Staff was very friendly wasn’t even mad at them. They are just paid staff it’s the owners that’s need to do better. Also not the cheapest place in town either

The staff is great and the location was perfect for its proximity to Lackland AFB. However the elevator was constantly OOC and the breakfast was meager and did not open until 530am but their staff told us that we should leave the hotel no later than 540am to make our son's graduation from BMT. The facility is tired and the room very average. The air conditioning controls were unavailable and we froze to the point we had to request additional bedding. If not for its location I would not recommend it. However, for convenience to the base it was good for us due to the heavy traffic. Pool was nice and had a hot tub.

Workers are very helpful and the place was clean but when we arrived our room was locked from the inside latch and we had to wait 45 mins until we could actually enter our room.

Safe

Property was great for the price & close to Lackland AFB. My only gripe would be the shower. Instead of a curtain you get a glass wall that it’s about half the length of the shower which allowed a lot of water to reach outside of the shower.

Staff Breakfast An overall great experience.

Very helpful/accommodating staff. Very knowledgeable of BMT graduation events. Hotel is conveniently located near Lackland AFB. No interstate travel required to get from hotel to base. Room was a little rundown but overall, it was clean. Will book again for future visits.

Hotel is very outdated , rooms smelled like cigarettes. Elevators were out of order , ice machine out of order . Will not be staying here again

Breakfast was amazing everyday. They cleaned the rooms daily. Staff is welcoming and polite. They provide maps of the USAFB for families. Location is close to the base. Plenty of close parking available. We've stayed twice now for both of our kids that went through the USAF BMT. It's like a home away from home.

This is my second time staying here and I’m always pleasantly surprised. The only thing I will mention is that I was out of my room from 7am-3pm visiting family. Within that time room service came and collected my dirty towels but didn’t replace them with new ones or change trash/ stock tissue and toilet paper. I was able to go to the front desk and ask for more towels though. Other than that the room was clean besides a few areas of dust on the lamp/dresser. There’s always parking available aswell and I’ve never struggled finding a spot. I didn’t utilize the breakfast this time, but last time I did and I enjoyed it! I really appreciate how friendly and helpful the staff always is! They’re always so quick to help, I needed to wash my laundry and they were very helpful with the process. By far one of the better and more affordable hotels to choose from. Very convenient for me since I often visit the base and San Antonio. Thanks so much!

Parking is fine. Area is fine. Learn the side roads if you plan on being there any amount of time. Also…. Why not just have a dang shower door. Poor design. Looks nice but not helpful. Overall fine place to stay. Beds are good and it does what it’s suppose to do.

The elevator was not functioning correctly. Everytime you wanted to get on it from the lobby you had to get a staff member to assist you. It would only go up to the third floor in a four story building. About midnight, it sounded like someone's kids were running rampant in the room above us. After about 30 minutes of this nonstop I called the front desk to complain. They informed me it was not guests in the room above us but staff members moving bedding in carts up the stairs from the third to fourth floor because of the elevator issue (I guess this just had to be done at midnight instead of during the day when guests weren'ttrying to sleep). They assured me they were amost finished-it continued another 90 minutes. Also, there were only two luggage carts for a large hotel. Neither was available when we went to check out (we checked out early because we had somewhere to be at 0730). We waited half an hour for one to appear (we had a heavy piece of equipment we needed to move) but one never showed. Our guess is people took them to their room the night before so they'd have one when they went to check out since there were only two.

The alarm went off at 11:45pm and we had to leave the building, apparently a teenager had access to it but the staff didn’t explain anything or be doing any kind of organization in case this was a real emergency. This hotel served mainly to Air Force families because the proximity to the Air Force base, we wish the owners take better care of the property not just putting a sign on everything that isn’t working, fix it!

Elevator needs repairs, but overall it is good and safe.

Water was turned off for 5 hours and could not shower for a party. The staff never informed us that the water would be turned off. Water was not restored until 10:00pm

Nothing to dislike, had a wonderful stay and will stay there again. Patty thank you for your hospitality.

On 5/16/26, water was cut off in the evening for over 5 hours. The staff never informed us they would be shutting off the water. When we called to ask how much longer the water would be off, they said about an hour. Three hours later I called back and they said water should be on in 30 minutes. Finally around 10pm the water was turned back on. We were late for a party because we were unable to shower and get ready.

Rooms were very clean, staff was prompt, professional and very friendly. Breakfast was ok I guess but not much for the guest who don’t eat pork. But overall very nice stay. Definitely recommend the stay!

The room was old and the carpet felt dirty like it needed to be replaced. The bathroom had old, worn out tiles in the shower and did not drain well. Also, the elevator broke while we were there!

We stayed in a king room the bed was comfortable the room was clean the shower was hot.

We loved everything about this hotel... comfortable beds, nice and comfortable L-shaped couch/pullout bed (my daughter just slept on the couch rather than pulling out the bed), great breakfast, yummy coffee machine, friendly and helpful staff. We were there for our son's graduation from BMT and had to leave VERY early on Wed. and Thurs. mornings and even though the hot breakfast wasn't ready at (the ridiculous hour of) 4:30am when we were leaving, they had already put out a few items like cereal, fruit, yogurt, and the waffle maker! Very accommodating! We were thoroughly impressed by this hotel and will stay there again whenever we're in the area!

Everything was acceptable uncomfortable. The building was just getting older. But very functional in a good place to stay if you have someone graduating from Lackland Air Force Base.

There was an oder to the room. The breakfast was served to you and you could'nt get hot seconds. The waffles were good.

I didn't experience the breackfast but the parking is safe.

Clean room. Good breakfast - potatoes and waffles were yummy, biscuit was good but gravy was a little watery. Overall the facility was very nice. Bed wasn't bad but not the best. We would stay here again.

Everything needs updated. The 1st room we had was dirty and then the 2nd room we had the tiles in the shower were starting to peel off. Better lighting in the rooms. The light bulbs are the dull warm white, not the bright white. Half the time the staff wasn't at the front desk when you needed them. I wouldn't stay there again.

When checking in, was told rudely that we are early like we were being punished (which we understood, it was around 12:30pm, we just wanted to let them know we arrived to the area and give our info) and that they would message or call when room was available. NEVER got a call or notification. Had to return twice to find out if room was ready. Was traveling with a small child, very not welcoming. Room had water and mold damage in bathroom and above window (above a/c unit from floor above. Bathroom had rust and deteriorating floor near door entrance to bathroom. Room entrance deadbolt would not lock (didn’t go into door, couldn’t even turn it). Pool had no towels available. Had to request a couple times while standing wet and waiting. The waterfall/ceiling sprinkler for the pool was inoperable and hot tub jets barely even worked (even after turning the timer and on/off button on located in the wall). The small pool was cold, hot tub was warm though. Staff overall was not friendly and seemed like they didn’t care if we were guests. We were polite and always said please and thank you, yet talked to like we were and inconvenience. Won’t stay here again.

Very nice stay. We got the one that had a full kitchen which was a surprise. Cuz I didn't pay attention when I ordered the room lol but very nice pretty much clean the only complaint was ceiling fan needed to be dusted pretty bad and maybe a couple shelves. But beyond that everybody was friendly super nice and very helpful on everything we asked

The 1st thing is the breakfast was not what you would expect a a Best Western, it was below standard compared to All the the other BW'S, My room was ok the microwave licke as shut down with my food inside, that I had driven and 11/2 to get because we were on My Birthday vacation, we were on the 4th floor with no screen on the windows. Was disappointed in that hotel. The Staff was very nice they even brought me and my hubby a pizza.

They said they address the problem and over all it was good stay .

I?m really disappointed in a number of things. 1) Broken room refrigerator 2) None working ice machines on most of the floors. 3) The person over the cocktail hour had people waiting on her as she sat and talked to coworker at front desk.

My room had a lot of problems: bugs, dirty sheets, toilet moved, toilet didn't flush right, bathroom door didn't open and close easily the hinges were covered in white powder, the shower can flood the bathroom, carpets are very dirty, building was humid
