The pool was accessible and not busy That I paid through booking and after checkout days later the hotel charged me.

Overall, my family and I very much enjoyed our stay. Our room was great and spacious for our family of 5 and two medium-sized dogs. The room included a full-size kitchen, which was a huge plus. Breakfast was delicious; they had Texas-shaped waffles, eggs, sausage, fruit, cereal, oatmeal, and so much more. The only issue we had was that the entrance smelled like mold. Luckily, the rest of the hotel, including our room, smelled nice and clean.

The staff was great; everyone was very kind and accommodating. The young woman at the front desk recommended an amazing Asian food restaurant. The AC unit was loud

It was a wonderful 2-day stay. Breakfast was great. Staff was friendly. Location is clean and tidy. Mariah (front desk) was delightful. We will definitely stay here again. Highly recommended.

Loved the room size... We were given a handicap room for some reason, but we couldn't complain... Great size... Also, it was a welcome surprise that our room was already cold when we arrived... There was a smell of paint and the Saturday breakfast was not good, biscuits and gravy...

To be honest the personnel there were ALL amazing. Every person who worked there were so nice and accommodating. Hotel was also super clean and breakfast was great!

The pool was closed when we arrived on Friday and the staff couldn’t tell me when it would open and didn’t open until we left on Sunday. When we got into the hotel room, there was no soap to wash our hands and the instructions for the WiFi were incorrect. I changed the booking to this hotel because we needed a 2 bed room with a pull out sofa. They only had 2 of those in the whole hotel (according to staff) and that’s not what we had. So we had to get a rollaway. To top it off, house keeping came by around 9am Saturday morning to see if we wanted her to clean the room. We said yes and she said she’d be back. We got back to the room around 9pm and our hotel door was left wide open and still not cleaned. This was my birthday weekend and my children (16, 14, 14, not young) and I were not happy and didn’t leave the room again, until we checked out. I recommend never staying here.

It said this property was recently renovated. It was in the process of repainting and trying to upgrade carpets to vinyl. The TV didn’t work in the room. There were holes in the walls. The floorboards had gaps in both the seams and between the walls. The shower had gaps between the walls that were not caulked. The whole hotel had a strong odor of mildew and the AC being on compounded the problem.

I stayed for one night, and unfortunately, we were given room 114, which was in very poor condition. The room had a strong moldy smell that made it difficult to sleep. I was especially concerned for my children because of the odor and air quality. The room felt old and poorly maintained. One staff member, Mara, tried to help by providing humidifiers, and I appreciate her effort, but the condition of the room was still unacceptable. Overall, it was a very disappointing experience.

TVs didn’t work. Said it was because of the storm. Moved just next door to another hotel and their tvs worked. Doors were not sealed could see in the hall with door closed. AC leaked all over the floor and never cooled the room. Did not have connecting rooms like requested. Rooms smelled like mold. Pool was green and water fall isn’t working. Dinning area doesn’t even look like the photos posted on the page. False advertising

The staff was very nice and accommodating. Expedia had messed up and booked the wrong type of room and the front desk clerk made the best out of the room we ended up having. The manager saw us the next morning at breakfast and was also very apologetic and helpful.

Staff were exceptional! Friendly, happy, and eager to help. Room was clean, everything felt comfortable. The check in was the worst. I reserved two rooms next to each other and even called days in advance to ensure they were together only to discover on my arrival that not only had my reservation been deleted, but when they finally sorted it out, the rooms were not together. Staff did their best, but the error was on technology.

Mata the front receptionist deserves a 5 star ! She went above and beyond to try to make our stay best as possible. I will give credit where credit is due. Unfortunately I can't say the same for the rest of the staff (April) and hotel itself.

We were greeted by name when we arrived, which was a pleasant surprise. After speaking with our host and explaining why we were in town, we were placed in a room close to my daughter’s teammates which made my daughter really happy that she would be able to visit with her friend right next door. I had never had such an experience like this in any other hotel, it was fantastic! Through out our stay we were constantly greeted by a smile and good positive conversation as well as directions to local eateries and the park which was where we were having our baseball tournament. Over all I recommend this location to anyone and thanks to E. Mata , we will defiantly be staying here in the future. The rooms were very clean and the beds were very comfortable to sleep in. Thanks for the wonderful experience, Mata.👍😊

Booked a king bed, was given 2 queens. When I went back to the front desk, they said those rooms were already sold out. When walking into the room it was hot. One of the towels, had stained streaks on them. No orange juice was available during breakfast. Well lit parking and friendly staff.

The Staff was amazing! Lucinda was so friendly, professional, courteous and surprised us by graciously upgrading our room. I was so surprised and touched by her thoughtfulness and generosity. We will certainly stay here again anytime we are in the area. We HIGHLY RECOMMEND The Best Western Plus and know you will love it too!

We had to return to check in. We were told the system was down. There was not a remote so I asked the front desk for one. The one we were given did not work.

It was clean and comfortable. Hot breakfast was great. Only problem, the room was not ready at check-in time of 2pm. Had to wait an hour but that did not ruin our stay there.

The lobby and corridors are being renovated so they aren’t currently the best looking but the room was great. Bed was comfy, and the room was quiet and clean. Would definitely stay here again.

When I checked in the lady that checked in, was so nice to me she’s very friendly. They’re going through a remodel and there were no numbers on the doors, but overall it was clean. They had the pool, which was perfect for the hot weather and they accommodated my small pet for a small fee

The hotel is undergoing renovation, so there is a strong smell of paint and other construction materials. The breakfast was poor. What food was there at 7:30 was not warm. The coffee was always out and the desk clerk also was responsible for preparing the food. Noises from adjacent rooms was very noticeable.

Staff was great but the toilet was broke for the two days I was there.

It was under construction it was dirty and had nails in parking lot. I ran over a nail while i parking. Food: fruits were spoiled!!

I do not know if this will extend to the rooms, which are in dire need of being remodeled and repaired. That being said I have to commend the staff for their efforts in making this a good stay. They were friendly and the cleaning staff was excellent. This is a hotel that is in need of being remodeled completely. Our room, although clean, had several issues which need to be addressed. The shower/bath combo walls were damaged, visible cracks/break in the wall. There was no shower mat so footing was an issue. The breakfast was good and provided the basics that should fit most traveler's nutrition requirements. If you can get a room here at a reasonable price, it's an ok place to stay, however if you find this place at the same prices as the neighboring hotels, then I would not recommend this place due to those issues I mentioned.

Booked for 4 days. Second and third days, asked for service. Second day received none, had to ask front desk for clean bath towels. Third day we were just left clean bath mat and two hand towels.No clean bath towels or washcloths. Had to leave early on 4th day so didnt bother complaining. The room cleanliness left a lot to be desired. Its obvious they only sweep the high traffic areas and everything falls by the wayside. The tub didnot drain properly, which is gross. We had to turn shower off intermittenly to give it time to drain. Will never stay here again.

The expectation of the property was not upheld when we arrived. No where did it list that the hotel was undergoing renovations and remodeling so when we arrived the entire hotel was under construction, the entrance was stripped to bare minimum, the lobby was sheet rock paper, the breakfast was paper plates and basic items from local groceries not even water was provided. The door numbers were written on the walls with marker.

The facility is undergoing a renovation so things were understandably in flux. All things considered the staff did a good job making the best of the situation. The desk attendant in the afternoon when we checked in was very helpful and pleasant. The one this morning, not so much.

Tacky due to hotel being remodeled and unfinished. Room #’s are just written on the wall. The room was ok but the shower/tub was very slippery with no mat in the tub even though it had handicap grab bars. The telephone would not contact lobby. The back door was not unlocked during the day and the card reader did not work. Breakfast was minimal. It was the least expensive option though but….

Was not disclosed that the property is undergoing a remodel at the time of booking. Did not present well. Accommodation was fair. Sink water had a lot of black residue upon opening and had to let the water flow for a while before it cleared.

Horrible all around. Water pressure in the shower was non existent, plumbing in the toilet and sink was backed up. When we told the person working he tried to convince us that everything was fine before finally putting us in a new room. I will never stay here again.

I enjoyed my stay with no issues

The woman that checked us in (and seemed to have the role of every position there) was friendly and a delight. My daughter and I checked out a few hours after checkin because of the conditions. We did get our money back so that was good.

My stay was rather nice. The hotel is older but clean and the staff is extremely friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay there again. Also the room that we stayed in was very spacious. I have a business trip back there in a couple weeks and will definitely be staying here again.

Building was under renovation. Bathroom was not clean. Hair in the sink from previous guest. Bathtub had rust stains all around. Breakfast was slim picking and cold.

Located in a convenient area with many places easily accessible. Pep’s restaurant is within walking distance (next door) that serves good food and has live music often.

No housekeeping during entire stay. Breakfast over cooked sausage and cold eggs. Ripped sheets. No towels. Very uncomfortable.

The alarm went off every night of my stay at 2:30am even after being told the first night that the issue qould be resolved it never was. I ended up cutting my stay short. I planned on staying 4 nights but cut it short due to this issue.

Saturday morning my wife walked into a flooded bathroom where the toilet overflowed. I had to use all the towels they gave us and that still was not enough. they did fix the toilet later that day so we did not have to change rooms.

Location was excellent, but as soon as we walked into hotel the smell of mildew got our attention , second floor was especially penetrated with mildew smell near elevator as it spread smell across hall

My complaints really have nothing to do with the staff or the hotel. It was more with the other people staying there. There were lots of men/workers loitering everywhere. We were two females by ourselves. When we would walk by, they would say things like " hey baby, come sit with me." They would make it very obvious they were looking at us to the point of being uncomfortable.

The room I booked is not what I received. I booked 2 queen beds since I was traveling with my mother and my daughter. We were given a king bed with a pullout sofa. The hotel also smelled liked mildew everywhere.

This was our second time in this hotel. First time we went, they had to get the locksmith to open the door due to faulty lock. The tub was rusty and it looked poorly cleaned. Second time we stayed (totally forgot about the first time experience-otherwise would not book here!), there was a guest at our room as we tried getting in. So they gave us another room, where A/C was not working (it was 105 F outside that day). We ended up moving for the third time. There was only one person working that day and she was covering front desk, and the laundry area, so waited for quiet a while to get help. Needless to say-understaffed, overbooked, and ultimately very poorly maintained hotel. Never will we stay here again.

My room was dirty from the moment I walked in. There were old entry cards, and little salt and pepper packages in the cupboard above the sink. In the cabinet below the sink was a 30 gallon trash bag with opened waters and other items I wasn’t going to dig through, why the electric burners to the stove from the kitchenette were on the bedside table made me wonder as well. There are definitely better places to stay in Portland Texas, and for how expensive this place was I would expect a whole lot more. At least there was a restaurant next door that cooked a decent ribeye, and had a beautiful bar.

Our room was infested with roaches! We were offered another room but when went up there it was still occupied! The previous guest was supposed to check out and had not done that! They didn’t even notice! They gave us a can of off and some lawn and landscaping insect killer!! The manager was supposed to call me the next day and of course I didn’t hear from anyone!

Everyone that worked there was so kind and helpful. Stayed in one King suite and there was only a window unit AC which cooled the bedroom off well but not so much the living space. The front desk staff was nice enough to loan us a fan that worked out great. Would definitely stay here again

I have stayed in multiple hotels and not one of them have heated water in their swimming pools including this one. Not a single hotel wants to invest money in heating their pools. I have small children and the swimming pool is the highlight of staying in a hotel. I’m very disappointed.
