Great stay and great location

Not worth the money. One of the worst hotels I’ve stayed at in a while. The room was outdated, wall paper was coming off in the bathroom, beds extremely uncomfortable. The lobby is very nice, but the pictures online are definitely miss leading when it comes to the rooms. Would highly recommend staying somewhere else for what you are paying.

It was a good place to stay in Houston, particularly in terms of its location.

Just shower, go to bed, then the next morning, when you walk in the shower, the tub is black where your feet rest. That is how dirty the carpet is, plus valet parking is 50 dollars, and that's your only option to park

Air didn’t work, pool was cloudy and dirty, staff was unfriendly. Butttt the breakfast was great!

the air conditioning never made it to the desired temp. the staff was not properly trained on the services they offered. had to speak with 4 different staff members to get correct information on the shuttle service.

I had such an amazing time at this hotel and I will highly recommend it for anyone looking for a great hotel in Houston that is classy and clean and also the hospitality is amazing. Check this hotel out and I promise you won’t be disappointed my first time in Houston and I was so glad that I book this hotel from the beginning to the end. Everything was on point. Brilliant stay and hotel was lovely only two things let it down unfortunately. We asked twice for the safe to be activated. They said security needed to do this but no security on site...not really ideal. 3rd night a dog was in the room adjacent to us, we weren't too bothered about the noise at first more that the dog sounded stressed. We let them know around 8pm but when we got back at 1am the dog was still barking. Hotel did give us another room so we could sleep. Overall still a great place and dog thing was out with their control but you can hear everything from other rooms

Free coffee would’ve been nice.

There was mold around the bathtub and around the window, there were dead dried gnats in the sink that haven't been clean previously because I tried rinsing it and it wouldn’t go away! this hotel was listed as a 4-star hotel on Expedia! The reviews have to be fake cuz there is no way this hotel is a 4 star hotel it was one of the dirtiest hotels I visited , when I told them about it they said we could have changed the room for u! I didn't want it cuz in general the hallways the room the restroom was awful , I know every room will be the same, thankfully I stayed one night and got out! I will do my research I will not trust expedia based on their reviews

Clean and well maintained throughout hotel. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. I flew in early and they were able to find me a room sooner than my check-in time. Valet was also very prompt. Would definitely stay here again.

Room was clean and awesome bar experience

You can tell when you get there its an old old hotel. Just the lobby has been updated but its really misrepresented with the room pictures. We travel alot and actual live close to Houston the price did not reflect other hotels we've stay at. However, the room was comfortable but wifi did not work therefore we couldn't watch TV. It was only for one night so we didn't even complain.

I think pictures can be deceiving. All the halls to rooms need to be updated. Went to several floors to get ice and all ice machines did not work. Air conditioners dripped water. All rooms need update.

Rooms do not match the entrance and lobby area… I was expecting grand rooms or at least decent but got motel style. Very disappointed and the valet $50 a day was a surprise !! Just wasn’t expecting it

The only thing that was cool about this l hotel was its location. It’s within walking distance of a number of the things we were doing. However, you can tell the hotel is older and needs a refresh. There’s no fridge in the room. He had to go to separate floors for the ice machine, no vending machines. Tiny bathroom. A stain on one of the coverlets on the bed. Only two pillows. I guess I’ve just been spoiled by staying at chain hotels that do better and that’s where I’ll book if I go to Houston again.

The atmosphere of the hotel is great. I just think it’s a little rundown. Furnitures and the room need some updates. I got the executive room with double bed but it’s small, the furnitures are torn and there’s no refrigerator. The hallway smells old.

The stay was so poor they didn’t let me know that there’s a $50 parking fee every night they only give you two bottles of water and then you have to go to the front desk and pay three dollars for water I will not be returning and it was not a fine print That you have to pay a $225 deposit

It was fine, I was put in a different room than what I paid for. Either way the room was clean the bed was comfortable. The meals while tasty were probably not worth the ticket price of paying for the meal tickets.

I like the valet service, it would be nice if it was included in the price. The food is absolutely delicious and I’m a foodie. However, several ice machines did not work and my floor did not have an ice machine. Property could use an update/refresh. Rooms need a little work , especially the bathroom.

It's very centrally located.

The lobby and second floor here are very nice, the staff were also very kind and helpful. The hallways to the rooms reeked of marijuana and the carpet in hallways were visibly heavily soiled. I’m not sure that the smell here is something within the properties control, but it was very off putting. The room was comfortable, albeit quite dated. The furniture and paint were pretty banged up from wear and tear. Linens were clean, plenty of towels. Overall an affordable option and I feel for the price point is an ok place to land as long as you’re not expecting anything upscale. Iced coffee from the cafe was excellent!

Nice stay. Kids were taking their prom pics on the winding staircases when we visited. It was lovely.

The first room was musty and toilet had stains , the carpet was not clean enough. Room was changed and new room had cleaner appearance however bathroom was very small. Property needs major maintenance upgrades

I really enjoyed the pool area it was nice and clean and got a good amount of sun. It would be beneficial to just include parking into the price of the hotel. Also the rooms and furniture are slightly outdated but nothing terrible. Perfect for a reasonably priced weekend trip.

Great stay, easy check in, clean rooms, fast valet

Clean rooms and helpful staff. No issues with noise in the rooms. It was a little warm in the lobby and in the rooms. We lowered the ac as much as possible and it finally picked in around 2am.

Unfortunately, the rest of the experience didn't justify the price. We later found the exact same room on this website for significantly less, so I'm not sure why we paid a higher rate. The room and bathroom were both very small, and the TV was slow and didn't work properly at times. Parking was also expensive, and the hotel as a whole felt outdated. In my opinion, this property is closer to a 2- or 3-star hotel than the luxury hotel it's advertised to be. Overall, I left disappointed and don't feel the experience matched the cost. I won't be returning, and I can't recommend staying here based on my experience.

Close to many businesses if your a professional traveler. Hotel has a great mexican restaurant/bar called Hermanos inside. Nice to have a margarita knowing your room is just a couple of steps away.

The hotel is outdated! The lobby and the terrace is very nice, but not the room. I was disappointed due to many good reviews of the hotel. I have travelled around the world, and stayed many different types of hotels, this was the only hotel the bedsheets smell sour. I had to call the front desk staff to replace the entire bedsheets for us.

The bathroom was terrible. The double queens were definitely just full mattresses. The pool looked nasty and the rooms looked very outdated. And they charge $50 and day for day/night parking. We checked in 7/10 4pm and checked out 7/10 6pm. Couldn’t stay there found a double tree Hilton better stay.

The room was obviously not cleaned and it looked NOTHING like the pictures online. It was the smallest hotel room I've ever seen in my life

Clean rooms and great food

First room had a roach infestation, second room had a used condom, both bathroom were not well maintained & the tub would not drain properly. Staff not very helpful at all. Paid the whole cost through Expedia then was charged $165 for both room with no explanation, $330 total. They were nice enough to give us free valet parking. They lied to the Expedia agent saying they proved us with free breakfast as well but that was a lie. Terrible service & worst hotel experience I’ve ever had.

I love my room !! I love the free shuttle!! The velvet staff member was a little rude when asked about the shuttle schedule. They act like I was standing there or asked a question, then walk off. Then come back and provide the time for the next shuttle.

The staff was friendly, but only one person was available at check in when we arrived and we waited in a line for close to an hour. They gave us free drink coupons for the bar, but the bar was closed during our visit. There is not any nearby self parking and we had to park valet for $50. Room was clean and for one night it worked for a family of four. We didn't get to use any amenities since our stay was short. We probably wouldn't stay again.

The king room is small and the bathroom is smaller and tight. No microwave and the help was not courteous. They were not rude just not happy to help.

Everyone was so friendly and helpful! Very clean and always making sure you have anything you need! Definitely will come back!

The lobby was the nicest thing in the hotel. The rooms were extremely outdated and did not look like the picture. Unfortunately we found a roach on the bed during our stay and checked out immediately. The manager was extremely helpful and understanding. She also stated how they were recently bought out and will be going through renovations soon. I will say the pool was amazing and super warm and gave the vibes we were wanting but will not be booking with them in the future due to the conditions of the rooms not matching the money you pay

Breakfast was good but overall hotel is old and will not stay again

When we got to our room, it was very warm, so I lowered the temperature and took my family to eat at the restaurant on the second level while we waited for the room to cool down. The restaurant does not have waiters; you have to order at the bar, and they bring the food to you. There were no refills unless you got up and went back to the bar, which made it hard to enjoy our meal. The food was also overpriced, but thankfully we had vouchers that covered most of the cost. Later that night, when we returned to the room, it still had not cooled down. My family and I complained that the A/C was not working. Someone came to check it with a temperature gun and confirmed the A/C was is working, but told me there was nothing he could do to make colder. I was extremely upset. We ended up having to order fans through DoorDash just so we could sleep through the night. The next day, I called for room service, but I was told we had to go downstairs to order and pick it up ourselves. As we walked around the hotel, we also noticed dead roaches in the empty hallways and mold on the walls, especially in my room near the top left corner of the window. This was a very disappointing stay, and I will not be returning. I would not recommend booking here unless you are desperate and just need a place to sleep for the night.

It was a beautiful place to stay, the rooms were clean and modern. The pool was also nice and very close to everything that I was attending.

First time here. Hotel is well located downtown. Buy the breakfast with your rate, more than worth it. Pool area is good, gym a bit small but more than enough to get a workout in. Property a bit dated in a couple areas but staff more than make up for any shortfalls. Whole team was first rate. Probably had 20+ positive interactions with team members. Front desk team super friendly and helpful, as was the bar and restaurant crew. Also, good value overall for the offering. Would definitely visit if coming back. Job well done!

Stay was okay. Had several issues but manager did its best to help us and kept us comfortable. Terrible experience with valet parking.

I was particularly impressed by John, who recommended a good and reasonable restaurant near-by, gave me directions to walk to sites, and greeted me by name throughout my visit. I have stayed at hotels around the world and this was a first! Whenever I come to Houston, I will return to The Whitehall.

The breatfast sandwich ordered was pretty good. I didn't like how upon arrival my door began to deteriorate and white dust was all over the floor in my room which got on my socks and clothes. I asked for this to be cleaned and for some reason they sent an engineer who asked me, what do you want me to do? I had to go down to the lobby and ask they send someone to clean. My shade was broken so I had issues with simply looking outside. The elevator seemed like it hadn't been services in years, myself as well as other guest noticed that while using it to get to our various floors. I called room service, and house keeping at one point because I needed towels and other room necessities and no one answered multiple times. I had to call the front desk.

Great place and location

Our shower was broken but worked for what we needed. Lobby and outside is very clean and the staff was very friendly. The lobby and second floor has a rose like scent and it is extremely strong. I had texted the staff on information about the shuttle and they were no help and told me to just go talk to the shuttle driver. Patio bar staff were absolutely amazing and made the stay worth it. Food at the restaurant on the second floor was also good but staff seemed unsure about their bar menu but not a huge deal! Pool and gym were kept nice and clean! Decent spot for the price.

The wonderful staff. The amenities. Location. The elevator doesn’t work for disabled individuals to get to the pool area. It’s been broken for a while now. I wonder if it will ever be fixed.

The aesthetic, staff and cleanliness. Only thing I didn’t care for is the rooms don’t have microwaves in them. There is one on the lobby floor for everyone to use which is ok.

Great hotel and locaton.

Overall, a good stay in downtown Houston. The rooms are nice. With good views of Houston downtown. They don't have a buffet breakfast but something that you have to order off the menu, which is okay. Breakfast items were tasty though.

The room was clean and what we needed for a one night stay. The hotel is an older hotel and the room was a small. The bathroom was very small with no counter space to hold toiletries or makeup. It served its purpose for two people but would not recommend if traveling with children.

Valet parking was great, location is close to theater district, the hotel is clean but definitely needs renovation. It was a good stay for us

Over all it was a great experience even though it was only for one night. The property looked great, clean and the guys at the front desk were amazing, super friendly and always smiling. The only observation that I have is with the Valet’s crew, they were a bit rude in a sense that they never approached the car, might not be a rule that you guys implement but in other places they tend to approach the car and ask if you are checking in or not. They are the first point of contact so they should be more careful.

Great room but one of the outlets were broken so none of the lights would turn on for half the room. Bathrooms are a little smaller than I expected and the lighting is a little dark. The room itself was great clean and nicely decorated. Friendly and attentive staff food at the restaurants was good as well.

The shower was awful, every time someone took a shower, the restroom flooded, I wouldn’t recommend this hotel, they need to fix the shower in the room we stayed in and I found out they gave us a handicap room, no one was handicap in our group!!

Beautiful property edge of downtown so very walkable. Staff was super friendly and helpful. We will stay here again!

When we arrived front desk lady was rude. Thermostat in room didn't work

I was staying here for business and the hotel refused to provide me an invoice, saying that this is not possible since I paid via a 3rd party Booking.com. That caused a lot of problems at the end. In general, the staff wasn't very helpful and the entire hotel looked a bit old fashioned from my perspective.

When we arrived and checked in, the room floor and window sill were dirty, I let front desk know, they sent someone to clean. When we arrived later that night, I found a blood stain on the sheets! They did not offer any type of reimbursement, just apology

John at the front desk is wonderful! Very accommodating and personable & a great ambassador. Like refrigerator in room. Ordering in restaurant is disjointed. Food ok but limited.
