Beautiful hotel in a great location

I loved how clean and well put the property was. From the Valet parking to the reception everyone was kind and welcoming. It was my husband birthday and he absolutely love it. The property was well kept and put together and smelled so lovely. Rude guest. But that’s out of the properties control.

Clean rooms only thing it lacks is the refrigerator. We didn’t have one in our room. The pool is very small not much seating available.
- 4/5
Clean room. Staff was very accommodating after a minor hiccup with our room once checked in. The issue was quickly resolved and our room was changed. Nice pool area as well. We will definitely be back

Very nice hotel the room was spacious and clean. I would recommend for couples doing a romantic weekend getaway.

Incredible experience. Only booked for one night but next time I’m in Houston I will be staying here .

The rooms were phenomenal. The room didn’t have the best ventilation. If the shower was on the room was very hot and humid.

I attempted to cut my stay short by one day. Expedia wouldn’t respond. The hotel said it was out of their hands and solely up to Expedia. I’m totally disappointed.

The check-in process was smooth... the view from the Executive Corner King was stupendous!! Southerly and Westerly views from my location. Simply remarkable! The room was spacious, and elegant. The walk-in shower (for two or three) made me get in every chance I got! I even used one of the breakfast credits at the restaurant near the front desk on the second floor - and my croissant sandwich was soooo damn good! I was on the 10th floor, no noticeable noise or distractions, intimate views looking into downtown offices and the rooftop pool, which always had people in it (traveled here during early August) From the lobby, the hotel is connected to a recently redeveloped retail and entertainment area, along the western end of downtown. From my window I could see the Toyota Center and the Convention Center. Without really leaving the property, I walked through a covered veranda to enter the House of Blues, and afterward, entered an entertainment venue that had a bowling alley, pool tables, bars, and restaurants. Whenever I go back to Houston, for a short stay, this is where I will be!! You can count on it! I will admit that the resort fee, along with the daily applied destination fee, threw me off. But they made up for it with the staff! Trastevia (the front desk clerk) was remarkably composed when I snapped after discovering there would be an additional $200 deposit required as well. I had to apologize upon my departure, as I should have suspected as much, being a hotel in the heart of downtown Houston. Which is why I prefer staying in full apartments. But that's a-whole-nother story! Bottom line, I would stay here again, and if you do not need a full apartment, then this is the place to stay.

The hotel itself was very nice and in a convenient spot downtown. However, the guest that were staying there this weekend were the unattractive party. It was just full of a bunch of rowdy, loud, disrespectful people, unfortunately. A physical altercation almost breaking out at the front desk between two guests. People playing their own music very loud in common places. I would suggest this hotel just create more structure so that not so much chaos is able to live in the space.

The gentleman who checked me in went beyond the usual. Besides answering all of the usual questions, he provided me with both breakfast credits for both days and cocktail discount coupons. Excellent location but entry to hotel is strange since there is no lobby on ground floor.

Hannah from the bar was lovely, attentive, and friendly. She made our stay memorable. This hotel is cute, along with the pool. Just the two drinks and truffle fries were tasty so I can only imagine the rest. Can’t wait to be back!

The good: - Location - Great bed - Clean room The bad: - Lamp above bed wouldn’t turn off so we had to call in staff but they couldn’t fix it nor did they the next day - Expensive restaurant for the food quality - Corridors and pool felt a little mid. Could use some renovation. - Mixed staff friendliness
- 4/5
The staff was very friendly and helpful. I enjoyed my stay.
- 5/5
The hotel was very nice , but they kept taking charges out of my account after the deposit was already paid and couldn’t give me an explanation.
- 2/5
The property is beautiful and well kept. However, don’t let the hotel fool you. There are additional charges that they will charge you on top of what you book through the third-party booking company. The office did not tell me that I was going to get charged an additional $58 as a “ resort fee” for just staying at the hotel while I had already paid all of my room fees in advance. Also take a note that they’re going to take a $200 deposit upfront. It was a little confusing at first when I arrived because I was unaware that the Front Desk is located on the second floor. There are no signs and you just have to figure it out. Also, you will need your key card to use the elevators otherwise you won’t be able to go to your room. The parking is a parking garage and it is $20 a day and/or there is a charge every single time you leave the parking garage and return later (I.e., go out to dinner). It may be better to stay at a hotel on the outskirts if you are looking to save money. However, it is a beautiful view from the window at night. I probably won’t stay here again though.
- 2/5
After waiting ~30 min for a bartender to show up i was informed he was too busy and to ask the front desk. Went to the front desk where he too was busy and said he could not help. The Restaurant was closed, but a nice lady did help me there even though she was obviously on break. Staffing at the hotel is definitely lacking.
- 5/5
Only cons: One morning we decided to eat breakfast at the restaurant inside of the hotel— Hull & Oak. We ordered very basic biscuits & gravy w/ a side of roasted potatoes. It took almost an hour for our food to arrive to our table. The food was just okay. Definitely don’t go if you’re starving, if you want to check it out for yourself. And the other con is we did not have a fridge in our room.. huge bummer for us. We like to keep our drinks cold, leftovers in there, etc. So that was a let down. Anyways, thanks for a great place for us to stay while visiting!

Great Stay
- 5/5
Great Staff with very clean rooms and the amenities and location was perfect
- 5/5
This was my first stay in Houston. I was visiting from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. The stay was outstanding! The staff from the front desk, to housekeeping, to my restaurant server, to the staff at the bar who took my order after the restaurant closed offered exceptional service, especially Akeem (not sure of the spelling). The view of my room was amazing, and the location of the hotel was in walking distance from local eateries. It is a very nice and well maintained Marriott property in downtown Houston. I would definitely recommend a stay at the Laurel Hotel!
- 5/5
Loved everything about the room & hotel! Such a pretty hotel & in walking distance from so many things.
- 5/5
Lovely property and in a great location.
- 5/5
My stay at The Laura Hotel was absolutely amazing. From valet to check-in and throughout my entire stay, the service was professional, welcoming, and efficient. The staff went above and beyond to make what started as a stressful weekend feel relaxing and enjoyable. The hotel atmosphere, bar experience, and overall hospitality left a lasting impression. As someone who travels periodically, I can honestly say this was one of the best hotel stays I’ve had, and I will definitely be returning whenever I visit Houston.

Our weekend stay at The Laura was perfect. It was centrally located to everywhere we wanted to go, staff was pleasant and check-in process was very smooth. They even had a DJ playing Friday evening at the hotel bar, he was great! Will definitely be back again.
- 5/5
Great all round!!
- 5/5
It was beautiful and right on the middle of downtown
- 2/5
No refrigerator, no hairdryer, no ice machine! There was a wrapper on the floor. If housekeeping didn’t notice or pickup the wrapper what else didn’t they do? The A/C never went below 70. We like it COLD! One of the cards for our room didn’t work. If one of these was the only issue I wouldn’t be leaving a negative review!
- 4/5
Did not eat breakfast at hotel. Room had no mini fridge so we could not keep water cool. Staff at check-in and checkout was not friendly at all. Staff in the hotel bar was the only positive experience: allowed us to have a glass of wine although they had just closed the bar. Will not return to this hotel and this is the first time I ever had to say this.
- 5/5
Great friendly staff. Good location. Excellent property.
- 3/5
The room they gave us was very clean, but the room we booked was not the room we were given. My husband had checked in and surprised me with decorations, so we had no choice but to stay in the room they gave us.

Bar was fantastic. Had an issue with the food but the manager handled it promptly. Room was clean and property is in a great location
- 3/5
The room was average, the carpet had stains, the bed was "EXTREMELY" uncomfortable. It was hard as a rock and my back ached the entire stay. Very disappointing. Someone banged on our door our last night stay at 3 or 4 in the morning. Don't know what that was about, we did not answer because we didn't think it was safe to do. For the price, I would not stay at your property again.
- 3/5
I feel like it could’ve been better
- 1/5
The hotel is gorgeous but the King sized bed was a Queen, the restaurant had gnats (bar area) the actual restaurant was closed but the food (dinner) looked like a tv dinner. Fried chicken was HIGHLY questionable, there was a piece of hair in my water. We did not pay for our meal, we could barely eat from the gnats swarming around our food. I was just disgusted to say the least. I expected more from this "luxury" hotel. NEVER AGAIN!
- 1/5
While the hotel itself is very nice, it was difficult and in the end unpleasant as the staff was either unable or indifferent to responding to our requests. Four times in one day I had to ask for housekeeping and two days in a row to correct an over charge of a hotel room despite the fact that I had paid for the rooms in advance.
- 5/5
Great location. Even enjoyed the spa. It was my best friend and I for a girls weekend. We enjoyed massages at the spa. Even though the spa is small, it was amazing. Highly recommend. Only complaint is there’s no ice machines. Had to go to the bar and get 2 cups of ice.

Wow, this hotel really blew my mind and I have stated a couple. I love the bathtub. The staff was a bit disconnected from the people and it did not feel BIP however, I love the room and the location.
- 5/5
Great stay as usual
- 3/5
The room was nice and bed was comfortable. The bathroom offers little privacy so beware if you are shy - specifically in the shower. There’s no lock on the toilet room door, FYI. The staff at check in was not very pleasant or helpful. My biggest issue with the hotel was all the charges - they charge for everything! I get that’s the norm sometimes but wow. Our room service breakfast which had a menu price of $38 ended up being $65 because of service charges, gratuity (yes both were automatically charged), delivery fee, and a syrup fee (that make no sense because we didn’t even get or need syrup for our meal). They have an app with Marriott Bonvoy but we quickly realized that doesn’t actually correlate or make things easier through the hotel - I checked in prior to arriving and though the app said my room was ready, it was not. There were separate apps for room service and valet. Valet was $65 but for some reason got charged $75 before tip. Overall, I will likely stay somewhere different in the future.

I took my boyfriend to Houston for his birthday to see Miami Heat play the Houston Rockets and we stayed at The Laura Hotel, first off when i saw this hotel i instantly knew this was the hotel to stay the rooms looked great because that the firat thing i look at when booking when we got there the staff was nice and the hotel overall was so cute we loved it especially because the area was very quite and it was in walking distance to the red line train which takes you right in front on thr NRG stadium its always a 5 min walk to rhe toyota center and i loved that after a certain time at night they look the doora to the hotel so you have to ise your key card to get in which for me was perfect and also very safe that not just anyone cam just walk in i give it a 10/10 will definitely stay here again the next time im in Houston.
- 5/5
Everything was fantastic

Room was not cleaned as frequently as I would like but otherwise the hotel was nice
- 5/5
The hotel is at a great location if you are attending any events in the downtown region.

Clean room property was amazing

Otis from the front desk was super helpful, as was Christian from the Oak. We had a wonderful experience!!
- 1/5
This Hotel overbooked and moved my reservation to another lesser hotel without my approval. They sent an email a couple hours before check in but I was on the road so was totally unaware. I was in a hurry to get to a work event so I didn't have any time to dispute or research another hotel option. They did comp the cost for the other hotel which was a nice gesture but overbooking and telling someone upon arrival that you are not staying at the booked hotel is unacceptable. From the looks and condition of the lobby the place looked very nice which make it even more disappointing.
- 5/5
Was great nice corner room walking distance and friendly staff
- 5/5
The room was beautiful. My overall stay was lovely excepted for parking. I feel like there should of been a parking pass ( including in pricing) giving to guests throughout their stay
- 5/5
Cleanliness to the T! Shower drain was even clean that you don’t get very often. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Stayed due to a visit to Daiken park, walking distance. WiFi is great and not slow. Overall 10/10x your pay for what you get. Excellent. Ambiance, aesthetics and cleanliness are 10/10. Thank you!

Very clean, spacious room and bathroom. Great stay

No the staff explained things fast that was on duties. Really did understand for an autograph hotel when we asked for glasses to the room they were so spotted and nasty to drink out. Mike had a great attitude and answer all questions with respect. Just was not what I aspected for the price. They also lost my keys the valet parking staff I had to wait 20 minutes. No go for me ever again

The room was decent, very disappointed about the no microwave, no fridge, and the hidden fees that were not explained to me until I checked out.

I cant wait to come back!

Hotel is beautiful and in a great location. We stay here exclusively when we go to concerts at House of Blues. The girl at the front desk was great and the room was spotless, as usual. Our only complaint this time was the service at the bar. We waited at the table for a long time and finally had to get up and ask the bartender if we were going to get service. He was nice and took our order after that. The food took forever and came out luke warm, as if it had been sitting for awhile. My daughters salad with salmon didn't show up at all. After complaining, manager said there was a problem with the salmon and they were remaking it and would take it off the bill. Great! It finally came out, after we were all done eating, and the salmon was completely raw in the middle. Informed the manager who said "Sorry, we had taken it off the bill anyway...". Absolutely not ok! Truth is, the server forgot to put in the order, or the kitchen forgot to make it, so they lied and tried to rush out the dish and presented us with undercooked fish. We expect more from a hotel that charges what it does per night. All that being said, the rooms and location are amazing and we'll give them another shot next time and see how it goes!!
