Cleanliness and friendliness of the staff My captors

This is a cheap motel, not a hotel. Refrigerator didn't work in the first room. They switched me to another room. Room stayed around 70-72 degrees overnight with AC set on 60 beginning at 5pm and on all night. It's right on a major freeway so expect it to be loud. Check out at 12 noon; however, house keeping knocked on the door at 9am then tried entering the room after I answered they were not needed. Front desk guy came to the room at 11am to ask me to be out before noon. I confirmed checkout was 12 noon and he said yes and then looked at his watch which clearly said 11:05am and asked me to leave. Still confused about that one. You get what you pay for in life so this is an $80 no other option available room with an $90 price tag. Unfortunately, there are not many hotels in that area and both of the others were full. Both are more expensive but I've stayed at both a few times and I'd say the other two are 4 star properties. This is a 1 star.

Parking is tight. Place is one of those in and out type places, not really a place to be comfortable when you lay your head. Bugs, cigarette burns in the bedding, sunk in bed, old appliances, questionable people in the parking lot... pay a little extra and go somewhere nicer. The staff was nice but I won't be back.

Rooms were clean, staff were helpful. Breakfast area was quite small, we didn't go throughout our stay so I can't comment. Parking was enough and the location was very great. Access was central for our needs, downtown was about 12 minutes drive.

The staff were pleasant and polite, and the rooms were attended to every day. My one real frustration was that I couldn’t leave my luggage anywhere when I arrived an hour or two early. I’d never experienced this before, and it felt like a cynical attempt to encourage me pay for an early check-in. 99% of places I’ve visited over the years would also just let me check into my room without charge if the room is ready. The breakfast wasn’t necessarily the most extensive or nutritious, but I still appreciated the convenience of it. A good stay overall for the price, but just a couple of things that could be improved.

Breakfast almost non existant. Seating for about 6 persons. The size room we booked was not available. The had to put on t h e second floor. So two 79 year old seniors had to lug baggage up stairs. Top that off with the fact the toilet did not work in the morning. First place we've booked through Hotels.com that we were very disappointed.

Location ok ‘Breakfast’ was included. Although a very limited breakfast we wanted to have it but the time we arrived (7:30 am) the reception (where the breakfast is located) was simply closed. No note no nothing. We planned to have breakfast as we had a tight schedule before moving to the stadium. But as said: without a breakfast although we especially booked it for the inclusive breakfast.

Place was clean...staff was good......but its definitely an old hotel and has shown its age and needs some updates. Would i stay there again? Not at that price point....paid $160 for 1 night....much better options at that price....had i paid like $80-100...then no complaints.

Came back at 3:00, my room still wasn’t ready. Was told it’d be another 30 minutes. Watched housekeeping clean the room from the parking lot and around 3:40 I had enough and started taking my stuff up to the room anyway. Front desk person was horrible at communicating and couldn’t understand anything she was saying. She kept giving me the run around every time I’d ask if my room was ready after 3:00. Friend who stayed with my went to use the shower and the faucet was completely broken. When I booked the stay I requested a smoke free room, when I got into the room it reeked of smoke so my request wasn’t taken into consideration. I do not smoke so sleeping in a smoking room for hours was miserable.

It was a decent, safe place for the price centrally licated!

The staff and management are not helpful at this location. I’m mistakenly booked for the next Saturday when I arrived on the 16th. I booked thru hotel.com and even though I took a room for the 16th they told me they could not cancel and give me a refund for the mistake booking on the 23rd. I was told by the front desk to contact the manager to discuss a refund. For two days I’ve not been able to get anyone to answer their phone to discuss. Customer service is nonexistent at this location even though I have stayed here for years. I will never stay here again.

It was okay. Fairly quiet. Weird pillows. For the price I got what I paid for. No complaints.

Clean safe and good value for money

Room was clean. Very small parking lot. Breakfast was only 2 muffins coffee machine and fruit. Staff was friendly.

Didn’t try the breakfast and room was decent. Glad there wasn’t carpet.

Absolutely would not recommend. Extremely dirty hotel, rust and stains everywhere, the room door doesn’t even seal properly, there’s a large opening at the bottom so you can hear absolutely everything and the traffic outside and won’t get a good night’s sleep. The pillows on the bed are decorative and the bathroom and clothing rack had so much rust that we were unable to use them.

Room was clean, convenient parking. Pillows were not comfortable but we weren’t there for long. Small continental breakfast was available.

The room was outdated but amenities were ok. TV had no working channels.

Breakfast is literally cereal and instant coffee. The front desk double charged me and a week later still hasn't been resolved. I'll never stay here again.

for breakfast, the front desk brought us a frozen egg on a plastic plate to microwave. I have called numerous times about the state of the room and there is never a manager around too help! Been trying to get a refund but the property is unwilling to respond!

The hotel was great for a quick overnight trip. The room was well attended, clean, comfortable. More so than most hotels in a ‘budget’ price range. The staff was very accommodating, and I appreciated that check-out time was noon (typically 11). Would stay again if we have plans in the Heights area and would recommend.

I didn’t like how it wasn’t really clean and smelled weird

The beds were so hard and uncomfortable it was like sleeping on the floor. There was a coffee maker but there wasn't a pot or cup. Then curtains had something that was sprayed on them and ran down it.

Convenient and clean. Shower drained slowly and curtains partly off their hooks. But, all in all, worked fine. Nice staff too.

Sucked they wouldn't honor my reservation spent an hour trying to get it straightened out. The hotel made me pay twice. Went to the room. Pillows were a joke and the room smell of over fragrant cleaning solution was aweful. Went back to front for the refund from the hotel, they gave me theirs. Hotel .comm charged me too even though the hotel wouldn't honor it. I asked Hotel.com for a refund for the aweful experience and I never stayed in the room. They are thinking about it, but still haven't refunded me. I have used this app multiple times and never had a problem. Still waiting!

I found a rodent droppings on my bed on the white sheets. I would have left the premises at that very moment if I were not too tired from my long drive. When initially I entered my room the light switch wouldn't work, I had to use my phone's flash light to find the switch on the desk lamp to be able to unpack. I made a promise not to ever book a room at Howard Johnson again.

Horrible experience. Bathroom was so small could barely close the door. My son slipped in tub and fell out of it and hit head on toilet. He’s almost 6’ tall and could barely maneuver self to get up. Floors were filthy. Could adjust the AC temperature. Said offer free breakfast it was a packaged muffin the size of a quarter. Waffles only on the weekend. Not the Howard Johnson I expected like others I had stayed.

Wonderful. So much loveliness. Pure luxury and happiness.

When I tried to get breakfast doir was locked No one was available and no one came to unlock door. Couple next to my room argue all night. Never again.

It was pretty good only three things. I would say the bedsheets had a burn stain from cigarette. There were syrup on the desk that the housekeeping didn't see that I cleaned up and the showerhead because of the hard watering Texas needs to be soaked and some kind of acid calcium chemical, cause it limited the water coming out of the faucets other than that it was really clean though

Very poor service. No wifi code presented, phone did not work, so limited space for breakfast, staff not helpful and somewhat ignoring. Just a sleep place but nothing else.

The curtain rods were broken. So being at night, I had to leave all the lights off for privacy otherwise you could see right in. The floors were disgusting, hadn’t been mopped in at least weeks. Literally didn’t take my socks off until I was in the bed with my feet hanging off and put them on before standing out of the bed. Paper cups for the coffee machine were filled with mold on the interior - not at that point like I would have made coffee anyway. Who knows what was done with that coffee machine. People coming and going at all hours, noisy and slamming their room doors. My headboard was covered in lubed handprints. If I wasn’t arriving at 1:30am after a ten hour drive, I would have protested but at that point, I wasn’t even sure where to go. Got a minimum of sleep, maybe 3 hours, and high tailed it out of there. If anyone knows the reputation of the Days Inn in Oakland, CA…. This was league’s worse. The staff was pleasant enough, doubt they have much control over what I experienced. This is a management/owner issue. Absolutely do not recommend this hotel. Avoid at all costs.

The stay was ok, the only issue i had was that cleaning crew didn't replace used towels, had toask.

Everything I needed at this location for a short stay to get some work done locally. Nothing fancy but it was clean, the staff was friendly and priced reasonably for the area.

Staff was unpleasant. There were multiple guests standing on the balcony talking loudly at midnight and again at 7 am the following morning. The incompetent employee working the front desk was unwilling to confront the loud and obnoxious group . Don’t stay here .

I had to see for myself what has become of the old neighborhood. It was like a time machine, all the memories came flooding back! One of the best nights of my life!

The rooms were updated and clean. They do not clean during your stay (maybe you need to ask). Breakfast is basic. Personal do not understand English very well

I had requested a non-smoking room. As soon as i opened the door, it was obvious someone had smoked in there. I went to the front desk and they immediately gave us another room and checked to make sure it was good. The room was clean and comfortable. It was easy to access and to get to everything near us that we needed.

Obviously no one answered the phone In the office either. So check-in completely sucked. No apology from the guy on duty on top of it. The room was run down and dingy. I don’t think the curtains have been washed for at least a decade. Dirty hand prints everywhere. There was a nasty brown smear on the wall over the bed way up toward the ceiling. I don’t even want to ask… The bedding was old and very tired. Cheap lumpy pillows, a gross old blanket. Yuk! The bathroom was equally dreary. The tub needs a serious upgrade. The door was chipped and nicked and would smash your knees if you sat on the toilet. The walls had stains. Really, what on earth did I pay over $100 for???? All in all, this is on the list of three worst hotels ever anywhere I’ve stayed in the world. I do NOT recommend.

Had a nonsmoking room and every pillow especially the throw pillow reeked of cigs

Door key stopped working last two days of stay. Had to go to office everytime i needed my door opened. Stayed 4 nights not a single time maid service to clean room.

Room was clean but needs updating & repairs. Sink drain is slow. Shower head partially clogged. Bed very comfortable. Musty smell. Loud arguing several times during the night and police were called.

Easy access off the freeway. Parking and the room was small.

Convenient to the destination, did not like that no ventilation in rr and staff at night time was unattentive
