Reviews
Guests generally appreciate the cleanliness of the hotel and the friendliness of the staff. The location is also frequently praised for its proximity to downtown events and public transportation. However, several guests express disappointment with the unavailability of advertised amenities such as the restaurant, bar, and shuttle service. There are also complaints about the parking situation and the size of the rooms.

It’s my understanding that the units were undergoing some type of issues because our room wasn’t cooling off but all and all the hotel was great choice. A week later I’m still saying how nice of a stay this was. We even had a chance to sit and enjoy the lounge located on the second floor. It was quiet and allowed us to have a view of the city lights. I loved it! The staff was very pleasant and the Hotels’s Transportation Driver, David was very helpful in getting us to all of our destinations. He also made recommendations for our dine in and entertainment experiences, in which we were able to thoroughly enjoy. We will be back soon!!! THANK YOU!!

Only to wake up the next day prepare yourself To use said shuttle And then be told “due to low demand it’s not running” it’s infuriating When the sheets give you a third degree rug burn just by getting into the bed - it’s problematic When the elevators scrape and tick and you look to seee there’s no information about when it was last inspected It’s problematic

No comment, bad location in the downtown

David at the front desk and David with concierge service were great. The AC wasn’t too good though, the room never got colder than 72 . Maintenance came and said it was blowing cold and we could move rooms but it was late so we didn’t want to . Maintenance did come fast though and so it is what it is . Staff was really nice . Could have had a better spread. No decaf.

The noise from the streets were loud couldn't sleep Room was very small not much space to move around also the water pressure was a joke. Bathroom itself has no space to get ready no space to put makeup bag or anything, Sink was small and water was dripping on my feet while washing my face. Front desk was very nice and friendly. Parking was empty no issues. Bed was. Clean comfortable the lobby was nice and open air.

Horrible staff not helpful at all, super dirty environment, we found bedbugs and got a refund and booked at staybridge suites instead, 5min walk from Daikin and paid the same as we wouldve at Holiday Inn, but with free breakfast, a private suite with a kitchen and separate rooms, big gym and pool, amazing staff , super helpful and even held our luggage for a couple hours after checkout. Definitely staying with staybridge suites again.

Nothing unique. Run of the mill holiday inn. Parking garage was narrow and tight on the entrance and exits. If you have any sort of rims be careful.

The room was perfect. Much needed rest. Thanks.

Very nice place rooms and beds a bit uncomfortable.

The hotel itself was nice but they did not adhere to my online reservation and charged me a different, higher rate. They also claimed that

The check in was horrible. I prepaid for my room and thw front desk clerk was not able to find my room and had to call help. After quite some time they found my room through a credit card audit. I checked into a room on the 5th floor. The beds did not have pillows nor a top comforter. I had to he moved to a room on the 11th floor. Only 1 bed had a set of pillows. Someone had to come in and scrape some goo off the bathroom wall. I was not aware there was a $300 deposit for incidentals. I used my CashApp card and called to follow up on the pending charge. To my surprise I was told that CashApp does not get the credit back. No one told me that was the case when my card was used. This was my family's first time in Houston, which everything else was a great experience except everything about this hotel. The $300 deposit not being refunded was the last straw.

Always a great place to stay every time! See you next year for another dreamcon stay!
- 2/5
They need to explain the fees better! I booked through Expedia thinking I only had to pay $40 at the hotel to be slapped in the face with a $300 fee at check in
- 5/5
Stayed at this hotel twice within the last few years and have no complaints. I stayed for Dreamcon convention located at the George R Brown Convention center which made a great walking distance for a inexpensive price compared to closer hotels.

I am very disappointed with the staff service, since door is looked, just entry is difficult, even though when you ring the bell several times, a host helped me to enter, bad service

Location and cleanliness were great!❤️

Room was a bit small. Overall it was okay, but just a touch below great/average.
- 2.5/5
Good location for public transport Good fitness centre Small toom for 4 Limited breakfast Poor reception facilities , no available water or coffee
- 0.5/5
It was close to where I needed to go There was a dead cockroach in the room, also it was too noisy you could hear everything from outside of the room. The restroom door did not lock you couldn’t go to the restroom or take a shower comfortably. The bed was not good at all not comfortable the sheets were dirty too. Would not stay here at all find somewhere else.

Clean, great location by the metro.

- 5/5
Great staff, clean room, and amazing staff!
- 5/5
This was my second stay there. It’s walking distance from Toyota Center and they have a shuttle that will drop you off and pick you up from events
- 5/5
I like the breakfast. Also, the rooms is so clear
- 4/5
The room was fine and the shuttle service was great!! Just the lobby smelled like a Home Depot and looked like one as well Im sure it will be ok once its done!
- 1/5
Poorly done renovation in guessing some newer looking fixtures attached to old decaying ones. Ice machine on even floors of course I’m on level 3 go to 2 machines out of service, television didn’t work. $30 on site parking dumpy parking lot that’s not really connected to property. There for one night only so just went to sleep and checked out in the AM
- 4/5
Check in took like two hours, they should’ve anticipated that a lot of guests were expected because of the Workd Cup and have more staff
- 4/5
We like the location and price point of this hotel when we just need an overnight stay in downtown Houston. Great location to Downtown and Midtown. Unfortunately there have some major renovation going right now that would be have nice to know ahead of time. Still a decent hotel.
- 3/5
the property was not as clean as I would have expected, however the room was nice. The biggest turn off was the paying for parking when you are already staying there. I won't be staying again for that reason alone. There are other hotels in the same area that do not charge.
- 5/5
Room was updated and clean. Beds very comfortable. Staff amazing. The only issue was the washer and dryers. Machines kept taking the money. I did receive a refund twice for it. Otherwise, great location. Will visit again.
- 5/5
Very nice and clean hotel.
- 5/5
Great location and helpful staff.
- 5/5
The system was down!
- 1/5
This property was gross. Over priced for a cheer competition where my daughter ended up with bed bugs. They ran out of blankets and had no means of keeping our luggage although we had a late flight and early check out. We asked to check out a bit later and that was also denied. Called corporate and they did nothing for us. I guess I can say it’s expected from a Holiday Inn. First and last time I stay in one.
- 4/5
The hotel was clean and room was nice but some of the staff seem to no be intentive with guest and all aloof and I feel like all hotels should have smart tv’s they should invest in that. But other those things it was a great stay.
- 3/5
Terrible location. Front desk warned me not to walk anywhere because it was unsafe. Homeless people on the curb out front. For the price, I could have stayed in a much better location. I won’t be back.
- 4/5
Was a lovely place to stay. Staff was very helpful and location was convenient to restuarants and public train
- 5/5
This was an amazing hotel, very clean and staff was so sweet!
- 5/5
The breakfast was very disappointing. I understand that it is included at a low cost, but the quality was extremely poor. The food lacked freshness, flavor, and variety.
- 5/5
It was good.
- 5/5
Great stay and friendly people
- 4/5
Great location but they are renovating not a big deal though
- 4/5
Josh, and the other staff working in the kitchen and front desk were very polite. Kudos to the team!
- 5/5
Good location
- 2/5
It was under construction so the whole lobby was not in use
- 5/5
Great place to stay.
- 3/5
Another issue was the lack of a safe in the room, which was inconvenient and made me uncomfortable leaving valuables behind. For the price paid, I expected better communication and basic amenities. Unfortunately, the experience did not meet expectations.
- 5/5
The beautiful view
- 1/5
The staff at night, especially the old lady with a faded greenish eyeliner , is not very nice. The words she uses when correcting mistakes are not the kindest. She sounds very strict and unapproachable, and it makes you feel like you’d rather not ask questions because it might trigger her to say more unpleasant things.
- 5/5
lovely thank you
- 5/5
Is ok, good location, good price, good staff, I really want to recommend them
- 3/5
The location is amazing and the price is honestly great for being right downtown. They’re doing major remodeling right now and it’s kind of a mess. The lobby is chaotic, my room had a really strong chemical smell, and the shower door wouldn't even close. Plus, only one elevator is working—I ended up waiting like 10 minutes just to get downstairs during the morning rush.Breakfast isn't free, it’s ten bucks a person. Parking is another 30 dollars a night, though that’s pretty standard for downtown. Also, the staff were just okay—not really as welcoming as you’d hope.If you’re on a tight budget and just need a cheap place to crash downtown, it works. Otherwise, I’d probably hold off until the renovations are completely done.
- 4/5
The bathroom lighting is very dim, making it difficult to apply makeup or do hair. Breakfast is available for $10 but is not included and requires a ticket; the attendant is very strict about this. Parking is $30 per day in a garage that is somewhat in disarray due to construction. A major plus is that although checkout is at 11:00 AM, garage access is allowed until 11:59 PM, which was very helpful. We were in town for the Lone Star Regional Volleyball tournament at the convention center, and with Sunday game times being TBA, the extended parking access added convenience. The rail train is located across the street, but there is significant walking between connections. While inexpensive (about $1.25 per person per ride), it can be confusing and frustrating if you’re unfamiliar with the city. We found Uber/Lyft to be a more convenient option.
- 2/5
The hotel is under construction so it made our stay bad. Lobby is completely gutted and workers in and out building stuff and loud . They were also outside our room hall doing work . The restaurant closed except for breakfast made it inconvenient to have to leave and find place to eat . The terrace was closed for remodeling . The staff was great and shuttle driver was great .
- 1/5
They said look for another hotel we will refund which hasn’t come yet
- 2/5
Parking was a mess.
- 3/5
The room was clean but they are Renovating the property. I went to get ice through the stairs and got trapped and had to go to the second floor to be able to come out and then find a working elevator. This is dangerous! Stairs should be available at all times with your key card. Everything in the front lobby was under construction. Signs not to use this or that were not posted. It was expensive too.
- 1/5
There was construction that we were not warned about on the website nor on Hotels.com. Had we known we would not have stayed.
- 3/5
Was under construction so i give them a pass but staff and rooms were very nice

Ac very loud, a LOT of banging from remodeling, and check in is super sketchy looking. I understand they’re in a remodel, but folding chairs and tables looks really bad. Also, arrows were pointing AWAY from entrance, we wandered thru garage, around and finally found entrance 30 feet from where we started other direction. Made no sense.
- 5/5
Great
- 1/5
Front desk was a couple fold out tables put together. Elevators were sketchy and barely functioning. Parking garage is awful, trucks can barely fit and the garage cement looks like it’s about to collapse. The only good thing was the staff was very professional and helpful.
- 4/5
They were under construction when we were there. other than that everything was fine.
- 1/5
The property was undergoing renovation, which resulted in a strong paint odor. Unfortunately, the surroundings were not conducive to taking photographs, particularly given the occasion of a graduation. The renovation works did not meet my expectations. A dedicated area for food had been designated, but the selection was limited and lacked fresh fruit. Upon arrival, I felt disappointed.
- 3/5
They are undergoing renovations. Staff informed me renovations will be done in July. It was construction noise during the day but overall my stay wasn't horrible. 10 out of 10 in other time I've stayed there.
- 5/5
The room was very clean and service was good
- 3/5
Everything was fine until a pipe burst in our bathroom flooding the entire suite . Ruining some of our personal belongings . We were then moved at 2am to a much smaller room with just 2 beds for the 4 of us for the remainder of the night .
- 1/5
The parking and hotel are under construction. Lots of mess and noise.
- 5/5
Staff and room was great at a great price.
- 5/5
Cleanliness just needed a pool to relax in but otherwise nice property amongst downtown
- 1/5
They are under complete construction and no one told us before hand. No breakfast 3 out of 4 of the nights, then charged us 10 dollars each for breakfast around construction mess and dust. Every morning hammers and drills all around waking us up. One elevator working, a family got stuck in it one evening. Top it all off that roof top in the pictures you see is LOCKED and CLOSED
- 4/5
Didn't see any place for breakfast. Construction.
- 3/5
Really friendly and helpful staff. However major renovations ongoing, the entire week I was there the lobby was in various states of being re-tiled, with building supplies, equipment etc standing everywhere. Main entrance closed up (yellow tape across it) and had to walk round the block twice to find a side door to enter through. only 1 lift working. the remodeled rooms are modern and comfortable. But the remodeling noisy and inconvenient and I certainly was NOT notified about it beforehand. Overall very expensive stay for the facilities provided. Amazing staff though, saves the hotels reputation imo
- 4/5
The hotel is currently under construction so kind of smelly. The air condition is very loud so I had to wear ear plugs. We paid for break breakfast and the was a “very very” basic breakfast. It’s more like free breakfast setting but they charged. They still have some improvements to do. Staffs are very friendly.
- 2/5
This hotel lobby is entirely under renovation. Only thing there is the check in desk. This information should be on this site to let people know this ahead of time. I would not have chosen this hotel for our stay.
- 1/5
Very uncomfortable
- 1/5
Paid for ADA room that was needed and did not get one, had carperts outside my room being ripped up at 8:45 AM, entire lobby was under construction, checked 3 floors for ice and had none, mini fridges did not even work, and only one active elevator.
- 1/5
They were on new construction and had no consideration about the people staying there. It was very smelly and dirty, while the construction was going on was very disappointed with the had a checkout
- 2/5
There was construction, noise and pretty awful
