Great Value Inn

To be honest Great Value Inn isn’t a 5-star luxury hotel, but for those going through a difficult season, it has been one of the more decent budget motels I’ve stayed in. I’m an entrepreneur and business owner caring for my disabled sister. We recently had to leave our home because of its conditions-not eviction-and although we found housing, getting financially caught up takes time while dealing with motel costs and car repairs. Yes, there are roaches, I won’t sugarcoat that. But compared with a Motel 6 where roaches were EVERYWHERE and I aggressively contacted the health department, this has been much more manageable. What stands out here is the security, peace and management. They keep the property under control, address noise and disturbances quickly, and don’t allow people to hang around causing problems. They genuinely care about the property and their guests. Jessica deserves recognition. She’s been respectful, understanding and accommodating, especially with my blind sister. I don’t love the random room checks, but I understand management may have reasons for it, and they respected my concerns with my sister blindness. The rooms aren’t luxury, but my bathroom and bathtub have been clean. If you want upscale, this isn’t it. But if you need somewhere affordable, quiet, secure and decent while getting back on your feet, I recommend it. Give respect, follow the rules, and get respect in return. For what it is, I give Great Value Inn 5 stars because they sincerely try! ❤️

Whatever you do, **do not book your stay here.** There were prostitutes hanging around outside the property, the room key didn’t work at all, and there were roaches everywhere\. To top it off, they even charged a **$40 deposit** for a room that was in terrible condition\. This was one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had, and I would not recommend staying here\.

Room was disgusting

There are cockroaches everywhere, the elevator has been out of service, and the entire hotel smells strongly of cigarette smoke. The odor is so overwhelming that it is nauseating. Our room also smelled like cigarettes. The bed sheets were dirty and had black hairs that clearly did not belong to us. We requested clean sheets on the first day, but despite being promised they would be replaced, nothing happened during our entire four-day stay. One of the employees looked me in the eye and assured me she was about to change them, but she never returned. The air conditioner in the room is extremely loud and sounds like a diesel engine running all night, making it very difficult to sleep. Overall, the hotel is poorly maintained, unsanitary, and nothing like what was advertised. This has been one of the worst hotel experiences we have ever had, and we cannot recommend this property to anyone.

Don’t stay here! The pictures are misleading. The rooms were awful! Dirty, missing doors, no working pool. The door to the bathroom was missing! They do not provide any refunds. The area is not safe. Looks like a roach motel.

We arrived they allowed us early check in, at a extra cost. Elevators were down so we, took the stairs just climbing the stairs was a horrible sight, everything was in horrible conditions, the room was disgusting, found bugs in the microwave, i still feel like bugs were crawling on me after a night sleep, we woke up to a note under our door claiming we had to clear the room at 11 am because they were going to fumigate the room, they didn’t allow us to transfer rooms so i had enough and checked out 2 days and went to the holiday inn about 13 min walk from here. Do not book this place.

Hobbible place

This hotel felt like no one had cared for it in 10 years. The worst issue with my room was the presence of 2 centipedes in the bathroom...one living and one dead. There were marks all over the walls, stains on the carpet, and the metal door frame was so rusted that big flakes of it were coming off. As if that wasn't enough, there was a store bought smoke alarm (as opposed to a sprinkler system or anything) which didn't even have a battery in it! I felt uncomfortable in the room the whole night I spent there, and checked out as soon as I woke up the next morning. Yes the price looks enticing, but it is definitely not worth it in its current condition. Stay away.

Disguising hotel , dirty carpets ( stained ) rabbit ears on TV, roaches , get ready to pay a 40.00 incidental you wont get back this place is trash , you should just sleep in your car instead of risk bed bugs

When I arrived, the hotel was dirty, smelled heavily of bug spray, and I encountered bugs in the room. The property did not feel safe or properly maintained, and the overall atmosphere was extremely uncomfortable. There appeared to be suspicious activity around the hotel, and I did not feel secure during my stay. What made the situation even more frustrating was being forced to sign a “no refund” agreement after arriving, despite the poor conditions. I also purchased travel insurance believing I would have some protection if problems occurred. The hotel looked nothing like what was advertised online, and I genuinely felt misled. I hope management and booking platforms take these complaints seriously because guests deserve honest listings and basic standards of cleanliness and safety. I would not stay here again and would recommend others do thorough research before booking.

Elevators broke had to wait hours for a room hotel was over booked problems with sink leaking in room and toilet kept making a loud noise all night that kept me awake

Front desk employee was very rude. Refused to give me the price of the room which I had already booked online. The room was not clean. Dust was everywhere and it smelled horrible. It’s a great place. If you’re on a extremely tight budget and nowhere else to go the 10 out of 10 don’t recommend it.

King size bed was old and lumpy. Hanging bar in closet was bent downward as if someone's kid was hanging from it. Crayon doodles on the wall. Microwave missing its carousel plate. Shower curtain rod was loose. Wall outlet missing cover plate. A roach crawling along the bathroom wall. Overhead light in the vestibule missing its bulb. And something was dripping outside the window onto the metal sill (probably the a/c condensation above) which was annoying. Otherwise everything was great.

Hotel was very disgusting bugs and roaches everywhere. Trash in the hall. Elevator wasn’t working paint peeling offthe walls stains on the pillow.

Great air conditioning. Lots of cockroaches in the room. Bathroom door had been kicked in and had splintered lock.

Everything was durty, when we got to our rooms, bed had blood stains in it, same as the floor, seems like they havent washed the carpet in decades, I asked to be chaged of room, didnt make any difference because it was the same story, roaches in the bathroom, open patches in the walls. Just a terrible experience, on top of that they asked for DEPOSIT, not sure for what, that building is crumbling bybthe minute.

By far the worse hotel i’ve ever seen, the building literally looks like it’s been abandoned, the sign is not even up where it should be, as soon as you walk into the lobby you can see the place is really dirty. We get to our room, and we instantly regret ever booking a room there, not even joking, stains on the door itself, stains on the ceiling, stains all over the wall, the bedsheets have a drop a blood, the bed has a few hair strands, the air conditioner literally looks like it hasn’t been cleaned at all, and you can literally see black mold in the fridge, and more blood on the curtains. The bathroom is also absolutely disgusting, a piece of toilet just on the floor, the shower also has what appears to be mold in the corners. We left an hour after checking in, we took pics of everything and when we tried to ask for our refund, they said they couldn’t do anything about that, BY FAR THE WORST HOTEL EVER!

I got a clean room. It’s not fancy at all. But seen way way worse. For the price it was the same level of clean as motels with the chain name at 65-70 that really be disgusting. Bed sheets and pillows smelled clean and fresh. It is run down but I want to be fair. This room was clean. And a/c was cold.

There was nothing remotely resembling hygiene. The doors and mirrors were breaking apart. The fridge and AC started making so much noise during the middle of the night. I mean we were still able to sleep for the night, but ended up switching hotels the next day.

Definitely felt neglected. The room smelt like piss & the room had previously been flooded out so it smelt like mold.

Rooms were very mediocre. A very strong odor was in the room and there were a few creepy crawlers around. I’m also fighting to get my deposit back that they decided to keep for absolutely no reason. Please don’t go here you’re better off at motel 6 or super 8.

This was the worst hotel that I have ever been to and stayed at. The pictures of the hotel which are posted on hotel.com is not close to what it is in real. Shower head was broken. There were so many cockroaches in room and bathroom, and microwave. The furniture was broken. It was a horrible experience.

Elevator was out. The stairs way carpets was extremely filthy. The railings were disgusting.

Stayed there about a week ago, there was no toilet paper, no hot water, bedding was ripped, elevator was out of service and there was trash by the stairs, we were told there was a refundable deposit and we still haven't gotten it back, called but no one answers.

I might have caught the hotel on a bad day, but the keycards were not operating, the room itself was not particularly well lit and the room was not in great condition. Also, during my stay, the elevator was not functioning.

This motel is a dump, located in the worst aera of Houston. In other words the receptionist said that the aera is the ghetto. Expedia should be shamed of themselves to offer something like this. It is a shame.

Genuine scam. After being given a room key that didn’t work, we were given the option of 2 rooms. Room 1 was a single bed, we had payed for 2 queen sized, room 2 was 2 full sized beds, and the AC didn’t work. We all started itching terribly once we got inside. We weren’t gonna stay in those conditions, and when we tried to leave and get a refund we were told no refund. This place takes your money and puts you in unlivable rooms to get you to leave, generating them free money. The entire building is trashed, with the back staircase literally covered in old animal dung. Stay away from this place.

It did not look like the pictures at all...it was run down...staff was friendly, but other patrons are questionable as if they are druggies or something. I was uncomfortable, but it was too late to book somewhere else, because I knew I wouldn't be able to get my refund back.

The rooms are pretty nice for the most part but the wifi here in the hotel sucks especially in the room they gave me. The staff are pretty straight forward with the check in. They do charge a $40 dollar deposit. But overall it's a pretty chill hotel.

I have stayed at cheap places before, but never with a room that had dirty towels in the bathroom, along with dead cockroaches, elevator broken, stairs had food in the carpet all the way up to the 4th floor. sign had breakfast hours and there was not any, patrons outside yelling at each other, cops had been called, and we called again, OMG!

This is no longer a hotel & should not be on Expedia or any online booking website. This property is merely a place occupied by rough sleepers,drug addicts and those under section 8

This place is a dump do not stay here. It is a drug den people yelling all night smells like drugs everywhere in the building. No elevator, filthy conditions roaches all over, no outlets in the room worked. This place should be condemned by the city. It looks like a haven for drugs and crime. Scared the whole night did not get much sleep.

Very cheap and diry. Nothing is as advertised on the website. Microwave and tv in the room did not work. The microwave provided to share in the lobby is not clean, build up of food and scum in it. Furniture in the rooms are old, dirty and not functionable. The walls and hallway is stained ans diry. The elevators have been out of service for years. Breakfast is not included. The pool is not in service. The water is green with debri in it. With all that being said, we did not encounter insects in our room suprisingly. You get what you pay for.

Bad smell

I left the property because of the conditions and the fact that it didn’t look like the photos that were presented. I was told my deposit would be refunded. I’m just asking for a refund from the third party booking I reserved through the Expedia app — in the total of $44.73.

I request to change and they change it to second floor. Elevator is not working! Second room doesn’t have lock key for security. Also there was another closed door that open to another room inside my room!!! Super noisy ! and some people on hallway were arguing at midnight!!!!! Not hot water for drink, Microwave not working! Totally Terrible..

This is not the place anyone should stay at. Not only did it smell horrible in there, but it was infested with roaches, condition of the unit was so ugly and terrible. After complaining about roaches being everywhere from the ceiling to the floor and bed!! I was just given another room which has the same condition, i wasted 3 nights of pay since they did not want to give me a refund!!

There is nothing positive to write about the property, their services are too horrible, zero customer service infact my whole stay was a mess

The place was rundown and unsafe, no outlet covers, smoke alarm was disarmed and missing. Broken mirror. No lamp shades. Bedbugs everywhere when I turned the comforter down and on pillows. Broken nightstands. Mini fridge was pulled away from the wall and trash was behind it along with backplate just leaning against the wall. Dangerous, dirty and needs to be condemned. I knew by the price it wouldn’t be great but I had no idea a place like this could legally be in business. Where are the city inspectors to make sure rooms are safe?
