Good location. Close to everything. The room smelled like cigarettes and marijuana. It just felt nasty. The carpet felt sticky. I wouldn’t want to stay there again
- 2/5
No ice machine available. No breakfast provided. Staff was polite. Not advising to stay here. Paid 85.00 per nite. Nope,!!!
- 1/5
As soon as we entered the room, there were roaches scurrying. Then I went to check the bed and there were roaches in the bed and in the sheets. We were unable to stay in this hotel.

Absolutely nothing The location is a horrible area! The parking lot is extremely dark. The lobby smells ! The straws that are set out to mix the coffee are open to air not individually covered so everyone can touch the straws you will be using. Not sanitary. The towels in the rooms were limited. Never again!!

Bad news is that this place has a huge cockroach problem. They have bait traps in the corridors and the hallways smell of bug spray. Unfortunately it is not helping. We had cockroaches in the bathroom, kitchen and bedroom. From babies to 2” in size. They were also in the stairwell. The front desk admitted to the problem and offered another room but no guarantee it would be cockroach free. I hope I haven’t brought any home in my luggage. Gross!

The staff was amazing! Room was clean but it had a real musty smell. You could tell it was an older room but the price was very good.

The staff is great, the room was clean. The gym needs new cables for the machines and the pool isn’t inviting. The shuttle service is very helpful!

My TV remote would not turn the volume down on the TV and I told the front desk lady on day 1 of my 6 night stay and they never came to look into it.

Air could have been cooler to cool the bedroom and living area.
- 4/5
Ac was loud and water leak on 1st floor. Art missing from the rooms but otherwise okay stay
- 4/5
Staff was freindly and room was clean. No breakfast and a we had to dodge a water leak in the 1st floor halway in front of the elevators.

The manager did refund me everything except the first night. Horrible!!!!
- 5/5
Good living conditions with clean environment
- 1/5
Entire hotel was very warm, with in two minutes of being in our room we saw multiple bugs, bug guts were left on the wall and stains on the sheets.
- 3/5
No continental breakfast, in room phone not working, towels not replaced and took forever to get extra blanket.
- 1/5
The first room the key didn’t work. The second room smelled like mildew and I went and bought Lysol because I was a little nervous. Had an empty blue in I guess to attempt to cover the smell. My room had roaches (baby ones). I hope that I didn’t bring any home. The front desk offered me some snacks. If I seen roaches…why offered me something to eat. I will never book again
- 3/5
What hotel runs out of coffee??? The bed was hard. No kleenex in the room and ran out of toilet paper. I was there three nights , my room was not cleaned the whole time I was there. You had to buy breakfast so I bought a yogurt and some cereal in their lobby, and they had no spoons anywhere?? There was an odor in the place as well. However It was cheap so i guess you get what you pay for.... I just expected better

Buena ubicación. El hotel en buenas condiciones aunque se nota que ya necesita mantenimiento a fondo. El personal muy amable, el gimnasio en buen estado.

There are incredable loud noises coming from the roof. It sounds like cars are being dropped on it. Then there is the consistent noise of a large machine going on and off . This was probably an okay place to stay at one time. There is maintenance needed. The grounds around the building are not taken care of. We were in the room for 30 mins tops and immediately called Hotels.com for a cancellation and checked into another hotel in a different area. The front desk personnel were nice and courtious. Hotels.com were amazing. We called, told them the situation and they immediately contacted Candlewood to make the cancellation. No hassle from Hotel or the Candlewood.

Nrg close, no shuttle. Pool not available to use. Weed smell as soon as you walk in lobby and exit the elevator. The room had prior people clothes and towels still in it. Disnwasher not close. Lamp was hanging by wire so scared to use. Ac in bedroom horrible. Fold out sofa not close so couch and sleeper sofa not able to use as well. Pictures very misconceiving. One maid was very nice. Complained to front desk. Nothing happened. Horrible experience for what i paid. Will not use service again.

Clean. Good pillows and hot water was strong. Would not book again.

This hotel was OK. It’s older and a bit rundown. I paid the premium price because it was during the rodeo. It definitely was not worth that price, but it was convenient. It’s doable for a place to sleep, but definitely not luxurious.
- 4/5
Room was clean. It had a musty smell though.

Had a broken tv but manager got a new one within 30min other than that amazing stay

The room was absolutely terrible. I didn’t realize I had reserved a handicap room (no problem). However when I got in the room I noticed the bathroom looked very rough. Used the bathroom and had a roach come out from behind the fire alarm light. I killed 3 more roaches throughout our stay there. I had my 8 month old playing on the floor and killed one right next to her. She no longer played on the floor after that. I had one run out onto the middle table when I was doing some work on my laptop. When it came to taking a shower, the shower worked fine. However once out of the shower I was standing in a puddle of water 2 inches thick. The seal around the shower is coming up and water went everywhere. Luckily there was a drain in the middle of the floor but my wife couldn’t use the bathroom for over an hour without having to step in a puddle. I will never stay at a Candlewood suites again.

They did the best to accommodate I requested the one suite bedroom when I arrived they had given me a different room the front desk ( didn’t get his name) did the very best to accommodate me and my son for my stay the housekeepers did the above and beyond to make sure my room is clean. Maintenance came by to double check bathroom make sure everything was working will definitely stay again
- 2/5
No toilet paper dispenser, roll was sitting on the bathroom counter, bathtub needs refinished, kept having to get new keys for the room. Had 3 sets in two days
- 1/5
staff very rude. Charging for incidentals when the week before when I stayed they didn't. When asking about it I asked what incidentals... the pantry area was barely stocked with items for purchase. The manager tried to stare me down then told us to leave. Will never go back there again
- 1/5
First room the stove was on and hot. Also the TV would not work. They switched our room and the second was even worse. Infested with roaches and carpet badly stained. Had to get another hotel. Waiting to see if they come through with my full refund.
- 4/5
room was clean. Slow front desk check in but staff nice
- 2.5/5
Close to NRG stadium Dirty towels, old furniture and alarm system, fungus on window corners, leaking shower, one room cold and one hot.
- 0.5/5
There were roaches every time you came back to the room after couple hrs. Room was hot ac didn't cool down the bedroom. Floors and carpet were sticky couches stained. The outside of building looked really nice, but inside was a disaster was wanting to cancel but didn't have the funds to get a different place cuz refund would of took days to get back. Called to talk to manager when he was in but was told by front desk that he was busy to leave number for him to call back and I'm still waiting for the call back this was by far the worst hotel I've stayed at in Houston for dr visits. The elevators smelled like urine when you got off elevator the hall to the rooms carpet was all stained and smelled like urine. Do not go by the pictures on the internet it's a huge scam. Never staying here again and will let anyone that goes to steer away from here. When walking out to put luggage away some manager lady came out asking of we were already checking out.RUSHED.

The pool had a closed sign with no opening date. The dishwasher had an inch of water in it. Aside from those things, the place was average.
- 4/5
Room was a suite and and ac was only in living room area. Had to leave bedroom door open to get ac in room. Not convenient if trying to have someone on sofa and someone in bedroom. Not very clean either.
- 1/5
The staff was friendly during check-in, but upon opening the door to my non-smoking room, it smelled like cigarette smoke, felt musty, and there were roaches. The sofa bed was so dirty and uncomfortable i sent my son downstairs to ask for more pillows and blankets for the sofa be d and they only gave him one pillow and they stated that they didn’t have any blankets I decided to leave and go to dinner, and return later. Upon returning to my room, I just couldn't stay there anymore—not even for one night. The smell of the room and the fact that there were roaches in the A/C unit and walls made me check out immediately. Furthermore, the parking lot didn't feel safe at all. When I checked out, I asked for a receipt or a paper confirmation of my checkout, but they refused and told me they would email me one. I still have not received anything. I was very disappointed with this hotel experience."

This is a safe, friendly hotel close to MDA Cancer Center
- 3/5
I only stayed one night or else I would have asked for a different room. The staff was friendly. The room was clean. Except 1. The remote for the tv didn't work. 2.One of the bathroom cabinet doors was ripped out. 3. There was a dime size hole in the fitted sheet. 4. The coffee maker had broken parts, it worked but it was difficult to remove the pot. 5. The kitchenette was missing a fire extinguisher. 6. The toilet tank handle didn't work properly, so I had to remove the lid off and manually flush the tank. I notified the management when I checked out . The manager asked me I could have notified the night crew. I told the morning manager I was only staying obe night. Or else I would have for a longer stay. Needless to say I told the manager I was letting them know of the issues because I didn't want to be charged for items that were already broken. You decide if the price is worth it. I think next time I will go back and stay at the 5 stars grade 9 hotels and above. Sorry Candlewood. Also this is a privately owned property so you can tell difference.

Hotel is old and out of date but appeared clean. The bed was very comfortable and the staff was kind and helpful. We stayed for two nights and did not received cleaning services at all and had to request clean towels from the front desk.

La experiencia no fue tan agradable . Lo primero fue que cuando llegamos mi habitación no estaba en el sistema y mi reserva yo la había hecho 6 meses antes. Luego de mostrarles el email con la confirmación

My truck got broken into and the window was smashed out. The staff was extremely rude and unhelpful as I am a 21 year-old female by myself in Houston active duty trying to pick up my dad who just had open-heart surgery. They wouldn’t even call the cops and help me.
- 1/5
Sheets were dirty, tv was not working. Had to switch to 3-4 different rooms. Ended up not staying either night at all.
- 2/5
The rooms were clean and spacious. The coffee pot didn't work. The hall carpet was so badly stained that it looked like the floor of an auto repair shop. The door to our room had to be opened by throwing my body weight against the door. There was a bad smell in the hallway. There were insufficient baggage carts. My wife did not feel physically safe. I cautioned her against going out into the common areas alone.

The room was very clean and spacious.

Air conditioning wasn't satisfying, not enough towels or wash clothes, not a half of roll of tissue, room had an old odor had to spary the hole with lysol, television had no good stations mostly news
- 5/5
Great place close to mostly everything needed. Kitchen and cooking untensils supplied so you can prepare your own meals 😊. Location is great to Medical Centers 🏥. I enjoyed my stay
- 1/5
The welcoming to the room was Roaches, and the smell in the room was like mold and dog piss mix together, I had to move to a different hotel the very next day. The front desk try to help and move us to a different room that was worst than the first. If you like to sleep in a clean place that’s not the place you should stay!
- 1/5
the room smelled like milduew i was unable to sleep due to the smell
- 1/5
Is not good . Sorry but is terrible.
- 5/5
It's a nice place with a nice staff. The rooms have full size refrigerators which I like. The traffic can make it hard to get out onto the road sometimes.
- 4/5
The staff is great. The area is questionable due to homeless population.
- 1/5
The pictures on the website seem nicer than onsite. The hotel had a wierd stench. Rugs were stained throughout hotel. No ice machine. No pool available at the time. It was under construction. We walked in to the room and there were 2 roaches. The air conditioner didn’t work, the rooms were hot. The cabinet was broken in the bathroom. Coffee maker downstairs in the lobby the next day while I was making a cup of coffee out of the automatic machine had 2 roaches running around the food area. I spoke to the front desk, and very politely told them about it. The staff was friendly and no other issues. I’m not one to complain but I was kind of disappointed. My daughter and I drove 10 hours for a concert and stayed 2 nights. The cleaning staff didn’t even give us clean towels or even come in to do upkeep while we were gone.
- 2/5
Too pricey and ac unit was like a construction zine
- 4/5
Room was clean and roomy. The toilet height was too low. Staff was friendly and professional.
- 1/5
There was no hot water the entire time. The bedroom was hot and would not cool down. The ice maker in the refrigerator didn't work. The door handle on the bathroom door was broken. The door to the room was difficult to open. Also, there was a large group of people just hanging out in the parking lot from hours on the first day of my visit, making it uncomfortable coming in and out. And no intervention by the staff to disperse the group. I have stayed there several times, and it has gotten worse each time. I will not stay there again. I feel that I should be reimbursed some, if not all of my payment.
- 1/5
This place is horrible. I got two rooms infested with roaches. Not clean and no hot water. Do not stay here!
- 3/5
The front desk person was on her phone texting someone and we had to wait for her. She did not even see us.
- 1/5
Staff was real nice and accommodating, especially for the inconvenience. There was roaches in one room and then they were moving us to another room and they had more roaches after speaking with the manager and Expedia. I was able to get a full refund that same night, but, then was having to look for another room at 1 o’clock in the morning. Expedia was not much help trying to locate another room.

Will definitely be back again!

Poor property maintenance and poor amenities
- 2/5
Entrance to hotel was through the Taco Bell fast food restaurant as the hotel did not have street access. Hotel was smelly and restroom has moldy tub and only one hand towel, one bath towel for two people. No breakfast nothing.
- 3/5
This hotel offers shuttle service to the NRG Stadium but not on the weekends, when it’s need the most. The hotel has a smell from the dirty carpets. The staff were very nice and helpful. The hotel was not very aesthetically appealing. Just a place to rest your eyes.
- 3/5
Room had a smell and mattresses had stains including blood on them. Furniture had stains as well. Carpets in the hallway were sticky.
- 1/5
This place was full of roaches. We let the receptionist know and she said she would tell the owners. The room was not very good. The shower was awful. The curtain floated around when you took a shower. There was water everywhere. The pool looked so nasty. Not enough towels. Woke up to roaches crawling on the bed.
- 2/5
This building is not a good representation of a Candlewood. The lobby was filled with the front desk attendants children laying around. The trim on the cabinets is falling apart, there was slime on the door, mold in the light fixture in the bathroom.
- 1/5
This place was disgusting.
- 3/5
The beds were comfortable and the AC in the room worked well. But ice maker in freezer didn't work and there's no ice maker in the building. Pool is out of order. The transportation advertised is only M-F.
- 2/5
This property wasn’t clean. The tv didn’t work. The time on the tv was off so you couldn’t get any live tv and it wouldn’t connect to any internet so there was no ability to watch tv. The bed smelled and there were hardly any towels for the shower. They had shampoo and conditioner and body wash but it was hard to get the body wash out of container. There was no mat in the bathtub so I was careful as it felt a bit slippery. All in all we booked this place to go to a concert in the area. The cleanliness had a lot to be desired. Small interaction with staff but they were friendly.
- 1/5
Chose this hotel because of the indoor pool which was out of service and the whole place smelled like marijuana. The room itself was not bad but chose this place for the gym, hot tub, and pool which was non accessible ☹️
- 4/5
Well the pool was not opened. Under maintenance. Room was not cleaned the next day. Guess not enough staff available.
- 1/5
They came to change door lock still had problems with it. Then the pillows had mold my husband had to go downstairs again with the pillows to show them and get new pillows i took pictures. It was very frustrating and not a comfortable stay.
- 3/5
The carpets in the hallways are dirty and stinky. They need to be overhauled. The room had roaches in the bathroom. The toilet would not flush (this was fixed). The basin was partially clogged. The room had a stench.
- 3/5
The property is very old. You can tell it’s been painted a lot and the carpets are dirty. Couch and chair in the room was dirty. The area is sketchy. The staff was very nice and accommodating.
- 1/5
Couldn’t even shower due to bugs in shower, no face towels, no tissue in bathroom
- 5/5
Convenient to where I wanted to be staff was nice too
- 1/5
Front desk often not there, sofa bed broken, microwave didn’t work. Stove didn’t work. Gym equipment in bad shape.
- 4/5
It was very hard to find. Also it extremely hard to get into the property. There needs to be some sign or something to bring attention to the property, to make it easier to locate the actual driveway to enter the property.
- 2/5
During my stay, I found roaches in the room, the top of the fridge was dirty, and there was an exposed electrical outlet—serious safety concerns. The linens were worn out, the furniture was stained, and the door card reader was unreliable and often took multiple tries to work. Small improvements and attention to detail would go a long way in making this place more comfortable and better reviewed. Cleanliness and basic maintenance shouldn’t be overlooked, no matter the hotel rating.
- 5/5
Good
- 2/5
Cockroaches! Enough said. Shabby and run-down - broken washers & dryers, pool closed, dirty carpet throughout. Unsafe are, neighboring buildings had armed guards patrolling their lot. I would NEVER recommend this hotel.
- 1/5
Do not stay here. This was a horrible experience. Pictures on Expedia not true reflection of property. The hotel smelled horrible. Had to hold my breath from elevator to my room due to the stench. Felt very unsafe on property. Appeared part of the hotel was being used for housing. We had to switch rooms mid stay due to noise from room above us. The new room had wet carpet from the air conditioning unit to under our bed. I left two days early with no refund. No reflection on the staff and I feel this is more management but stay away from this hotel!
- 1/5
The room was fairly clean; however, the recliner was very dirty. Kitchen cupboard was falling apart (literally) on the inside and there was a missing cabinet or vent above the stove. The bathroom vanity was missing a door and support on the right side of its shelf. Tub was clean, but appeared to be very dirty. Unpleasant smells in the hallways and rooms.
- 1/5
we had to leave the room around 3 am since the condition of the place was unsanitary!.. they did not have another room to offer us.. Very disappointed it was a horrible experience !.
- 2/5
Were given one room. Went upstairs to room. Walked in and it smelled of urine. Went back down stairs and given a new room. The room smelled very musty. Had to buy air freshner to help. No hand soap in the bathroom and no hair dryer.
- 2/5
There was bugs and the sheets on the bed was dirty or stained but I think dirty because there was hair in the bed. The mattress on the sleeper sofa was so dirty it looked like sumn from a murder scene and it was so thin you could feel the springs from the frame. The air vent to the bedroom didn’t work and it was hot in the bedroom.
- 5/5
Very nice
- 2/5
There were only 2 big towels. Not hand towels, wash cloths, or bath mat. The suites only have an air conditioner in the living room not the bedroom. Its old and has really gone down since i stayed 2 uears ago.
- 3/5
Exactly as how the website described it
- 2/5
Decent stay, no ice machine, limited linens for couch bed, wouldn't hurt the vacuum to hit the carpet.
