Reviews
The hotel receives mixed reviews with guests appreciating its beachfront location and friendly staff, but expressing dissatisfaction with the cleanliness of rooms, parking fees, and maintenance issues. Some guests also mention the surrounding area being run down and shady.
- Beachfront location
- Friendly and helpful staff
- Parking fees and limited parking
- Cleanliness and maintenance issues in rooms

I really enjoy staying here. Hotel is clean, amenities are good, staff pleasant and helpful. Location is close to freeway and easy access to any sites you want to visit.

My only knock was that you have to pay for parking. C’mon. Just include it in the room price.

Loved that you walk out and the beach is right in front of you. Pool and hot tub were great. Hot cookies at check in were delicious

My friend and I had a great stay at the DoubleTree! The beachfront location, pool with a swim-up bar, and five-minute walk to the aquarium were perfect. The staff was friendly, and the $16 breakfast buffet was a great value. Parking was about $13 total for two nights. My only suggestion would be adding a vent fan and better air conditioning in the bathroom. We would definitely stay again!
- 5/5
It is clean.. staff is friendly..Demetrius made us feel sooo welcomed..he is so friendly this is why we keep coming back.
- 5/5
Location was excellent right on the beach
- 4/5
The ocean view from this hotel is fantastic. There is also very easy access to the beach and back to hotel. The place is well kept and check in was easy. I was surprised they charge for parking. There is also a charge for breakfast which is OK, not the best. We ate out the second morning. The room had a terrific view of the ocean, and we really enjoyed that. This is probably the best hotel in the area, with a quick 10 minute drive to downtown area with much better restaurants. Would consider staying there again.

room was good shower could of been cleaned better. Parking was horrible
- 4.5/5
Location was great. Right by the beach Parking. And had to come inside cold and wet to the rest room when in the pool
- 5/5
The location is excellent for beginning your day in the heart of Corpus, short walk to the USS Lexington for a tour, or fishing the jetty. Also several shops close by. Also don’t skip the aquarium down the street! N/A

Nice bar with limited food options although pricey. I liked the bar by the poor and the live music . I expect more for the price and was hoping to have beach access through the patio . Also wish parking and breakfast would be included for the price I paid . Over 600$ for two nights. Online parking said it was 10$ a day and ended up being 15$ per day when I arrived and that didn’t included tax so an extra 38 and some change after tax just for parking.
- 3/5
El cuarto estaba un poco sucio el agua se fue varias veces mientras nos duchabamos
- 3/5
The parking was by phone app that charged $15/day, plus $2 fee, then tax on top of that. It was not even covered. I would not visit this property on my wallet again.
- 5/5
Really love this hotel! Really recommend it

I was also disappointed that I booked a standard room expecting an ocean view based on the photos shown on the hotel's website. Instead, my room overlooked the parking lot. It seems that some of the website photos may be outdated or misleading, as they gave me different expectations for what a standard room would offer. A nice bonus was the warm chocolate chip cookies at check-in—they were absolutely delicious! Aside from the parking fee discrepancy and the misleading room photos, I had a good experience and would consider staying here again.
- 5/5
Accessibility to beach/ parking. Cheaper paid parking was really nice. Loved the restaurant that is located inside building. No complaints about the facility.
- 5/5
The staff was very pleasant and able to help us with some ideas to keep busy. The beach area was clean. The room was ready and cleaned by check in time. Parking was a bit crowded upon return if you left for dinner. The cookies were amazing. Our room was a sunset view and we sat on the balcony watching it set.

Right on the beach. Clean and comfortable property. This will be my go to property when staying in corpus.
- 3/5
there is no switch to control a Balcony light, too annoying
- 2/5
Staff is the only thing that was good about the hotel. The pool is tiny and maybe 20 people can get in … the ocean is dirty. The beach is scummy. They make you pay for everything even $15 a night for parking and the food is terribly expensive… Corpus Christi is not a place I will be going back to but like I said the staff was amazing and the room was good but nothing else.
- 5/5
great, on the beach
- 5/5
Rooms are very clean and large. Staff members are fantastic. Beach view is awesome if you request a room with a view and not a view of the parking lot.
- 5/5
Everything was great and the staff was wonderful
- 3/5
The room and the view were nice. However there were too many other issues to overcome that. When we checked in, 30 minutes after the normal check-in time, our room wasn’t ready. We had to wait another 45 minutes. Then, only one of the two elevators was working, which becomes a problem when you’re on the 6th floor. It remained that way for our entire stay. Also, the ice machine on our floor was out of order, also for our entire stay. The shower water pressure was almost non-existent. And, the guest in the room next to us would smoke on her balcony. The parking situation was awful, since the hotel parking lot wasn’t just for hotel guests. And the number of cars double parked was unbelievable, especially since nothing was ever done about them. All in all our stay was just okay, but we won’t be staying at this hotel again.
- 4/5
Falta de mantenimiento al elevadores
- 5/5
Everything was very clean and the staff were great. I love when there is a complementary coffee station in the lobby that is maintained 24hours. The beach is 10 feet out the back door of the hotel. The pool area was a fun place to relax with a swim up bar. The TV's behind the bar were rained out and broken from the last storm they had. It would have been nice if these were working as we were there during the World Cup Final Game. The only big negative is that you have to pay for parking and there is not enough spaces for when the hotel is full, so you pay to not be able to park in the hotel parking lot. This is the one issue that should be fixed. Maybe set the lot to key card entry for paying guests only and not let it run as a public parking lot?
- 4/5
Only one elevator as the other was broken so there was always a line. Parking paid through a third party. Wanted gratuity for breakfast buffet. Seemed to nickel and dime every chance they got. Brown something on side of sheet on bed. Smell in the hallways. Overall just ok. I expected better for the price.
- 5/5
Great location on the bay beach!! Loved the balcony with a bay view.
- 3/5
1. Location for shopping and restaurants. (GOOD) 2. Location to beach access. (GOOD) 3. The front staff was very nice and helpful. (GOOD) 4. The hotel only had one elevator working which may the waiting terrible. (POOR) 5. For the price I paid for ocean view I was hoping for a better view. I didn't appreciate that we had a half wall obstructing our view. (POOR) 6. The parking was very limited, especially since we have to paid for parking. (POOR) 7. We were not made aware by the front desk staff that on Saturday and Sunday it was breakfast buffet. (POOR)
- 5/5
The only issue was the pillows were too soft and the water pressure was awful. Overall, five stars, it's an excellent hotel. We had a wonderful time. Bring a pillow if you don't like a lack of support. My two gripes aren't enough to give it a lower rating. The place was fantastic!

Steps to the beach!

$155.43 was charged to my room, for a purchase I never made. When I called to check on it they couldn’t find my reservation.
- 4/5
The only downfall is the check in, 4:00 pm is a little late
- 5/5
I loved the hotel's proximity to the beach, the view from the room's balcony, and the very clean pool and surrounding area. The food was exquisite.
- 4/5
This location is wonderful and proximity to things in the area can’t be beat.
- 4/5
Very clean, nice, the only thing was the balcony door didn't open. Nice place
- 3/5
I did not get a beach view, Expedia did not share my booking with the property, they gave me the best they had based on my preferences which was a king bed, street-facing room that was handicapped-accessible.

Room and bathroom were clean. Parking is not free and the small lot fills up quickly! Beach access is public and was not clean. Pool area was clean and well maintained.
- 3/5
Clean rooms but 1 of the 2 elevators was broke and took about 5-10 mins just to get on, they finally told us we could use the service elevator. Someone was wiggling our door around 4AM, and paying to park at a hotel your already paying to stay at is crazy too.
- 5/5
Great hotel and staff! I will be back.
- 5/5
Great staff, very helpful and accommodating when they realized they had my res got confused with someone else's with the same last name and first initial. They were quick to take care of us and even comped our parking and gave us a free breakfast coupon for 2…. Top notch staff, comfortable bed, very clean and great view of the bay and USS Lexington.
- 3/5
Stayed week of 4th of July. One of the busiest weekends of the year and only one elevator worked. They never had anybody out there working on it the whole time.. Guess not a priority. Spent a third of vacation waiting on elevator. They also expect you to pay $12 a day for parking... not disclosed until you get there. The only reason we would stay there again is because of the location.
- 4/5
Great view and access to the beach!
- 2/5
Our stay was over a holiday weekend and it seems they were short staffed for the bar and kitchen. Dinner on July 4th at 5:30 we sat at the bar thinking we would get service fast bc we had plans later. Took 20 mins for just the bartender to speak to us. Seemed he was doing all tables by himself the room was packed. We over heard him talking to someone else and he didn’t have the best attitude and said there was a 30-45 min wait just to get food. Also there was long waits for the elevator they had 2 elevators but only one was in use. The morning we left the elevator doors wouldn’t open completely and we chose the stairs. This info was provided to stay and their response was “it happens”.

Beach sand horrible. Spacius Room but carpet smell and was wet .
- 4/5
The staff is amazing! The place is clean and comfortable. The pool is relaxing but gets too full. There is only one elevator working and it takes a while to become available.
- 4/5
The location could not have been better. Walk out the back door to the beach. The room was a nice size and clean. It felt a little tired and I think the entire hotel could use a little refresh. It was very hot and humid when we were there and the in room air conditioning barely kept up. It was ok and not hot in the room but never got close to what I would say was cool/cold. The staff were wonderful and helpful. The onsite restaurant food was average and we were happy to have it.
- 5/5

Amazing place .. we loved it ..
- 5/5
Very convenient to shops, restaurants, beach, Aircraft Carrier Museum, and Texas Aquarium.
- 2/5
I checked in and went to my room and it was so run down and smelled weird. The carpet looked dirty and I couldn’t believe it was actually a Double Tree. I couldn’t cancel my reservation, but I wasn’t going to stay there so I left and had to pay for another room at another hotel.
- 4/5
parking is not included. It’s a daily rate of $10 for night. The 1818 restaurant downstairs is privately owned is seems to be hit or miss on the reviews. My wife and kid had breakfast there and it was mediocre. They seem short staffed.
- 5/5
Great place to stay that’s right by the beach!
- 4/5
Could use more staff for the breakfast crowd during the beginning of the weekend. Overall a very enjoyable experience. 🙂
- 5/5
We had a very enjoyable stay and would highly recommend this hotel to anyone considering it. The location was also perfect – just off the beach and walking distance to several attractions and restaurants.
- 5/5
Very helpful staff and clean rooms
- 5/5
Convenient to beach, great breakfast options, great housekeeping staff.
- 5/5
Actually a very nice place, would return again.
- 5/5
I loved it and the staff I loved how the manager in the bar area was helping his staff clean up. I loved it here and being close to the beach made it worth it. This will be my favorite place to stay next time and in the future
- 5/5
Clean room, Great beach access. Tight parking and add’l $12/night. Would appreciate earlier check in.
- 5/5
It’s was nice, clean and great location
- 5/5
Family had a very enjoyable experience staying here.
- 4/5
Wonderful place to stay. Parking was kind of tight and you do pay $10 to park and they hold $50 for deposit which was no biggie. Biggest issue breakfast buffet cost $16 and that was kind of steap. Never paid for hotel breakfast. I'd much rather have the option to spend more money for the jet skis and other attractions that were a plus for me.
- 5/5
Really close to the beach excellent service excellent staff elevators to get to your room. Thank you for everything.!
- 5/5
We love this hotel. We come and stay 3 or 4 times a year. The staff is very friendly. It’s always clean.

- 5/5
Nice hotel, friendly staff, great location.
- 5/5
The whole experience was great
- 5/5
There was a “weird” smell in the rooms along with no fan in the bathroom.
- 5/5
Room was clean and staff was very friendly. Will stay agin when we’re in town
- 4/5
However with all of the “bad” out of the way, the cleaning staff was amazing and always smiling & saying have a great day. It is a short walk to the USS Lexington and the aquarium. Overall, no place is perfect and it wouldn't prevent me from going back.
- 5/5
Everything was great only thing is they could use better luggage carriers ! And having to pay for parking while at the hotel !
- 5/5
Love it

Water pressure was horrible, water kept going on/off during our one shower we took while we were there.
- 5/5
Staff was kind and friendly. The beach was great to lay on, a little rough for swimming but they had a nice outdoor pool. Great views. We got to see a large ship coming into harbor in the evening with was awesome. If we ever come back to Texas I would stay here again.
- 5/5
Clean room, clean restroom, chill place and loved the easy access to the beach and the breakfast buffet and staff
- 5/5
Eric ( Manager ) was Awesome, he remembered my name the 3rd day we were there. BAR staff were amazing and spot on, access directly to the Beach.
- 5/5
This hotel is more like a home, wether you stay a night or several nights, it very home like. My family always has a blast, especially eating the cookies they give you at check in.
- 4/5
Everything was fine except the ixe machine was broken in our floor so it was kind of a hassle having g to go to the other floor to get ice.
- 5/5
Clean room with lots of room inside, great view.
- 5/5
First time staying here & it was the best choice. Staff was great & the bartenders were AWESOME. Treated everyone in a timely manner as they were packed. I would definitely stay again .
- 5/5
the property was very well kept right in front of the beach!! the only thing I was disappointed was parking!! now they started charging on parking!! with the price they are charging on your room should be enough for parking !! thanks
- 5/5
Clean room and good view to the beach
- 5/5
Beach view and semi- secluded location had a real cozy experience.
- 5/5
Very nice place
- 5/5
Clean room, friendly staff nice view
- 5/5
Right from the beginning of check-in, everything was great! Kris, the manager, was really nice. They even give you warm cookies upon check-in. Our room was on the side of the building facing the USS Lexington. We still had a great view of the bay. The room was very clean. My only "complaint" isn't really a complaint. The water pressure was good most of the time. There were times that it wasn't great but it really wasn't a problem. We did utilize the hot tub and it was super hot. We loved it. We will definitely stay here again!
- 5/5
The staff was very helpful and nice didn't get the young ladies name that checked us in that day but she was so kind and helpful and let us check in early . The room was very clean all together everything was great well book again.
- 5/5
They had quick, functional elevators. Parking was not a problem, although there's like an $11 daily parking fee. The hotel has a restaurant and bar, and there are other external options downtown and along 358 (S Padre Island Dr). What can be improved: Carpet shampoo probably needed, spray some air sanitizer before next guest arrives, offer a safe for valuables, and place bathroom caddies if we prefer to use our own toiletries. We plan to return to the property soon since we had an awesome experience overall.
- 5/5
An amazing stay! Housekeeping everyday! Everyone on the team is so nice thanks to Christopher and Josh :) I would so stay here again.
- 5/5
Great staff!
- 4/5
The hotel is older, so keep your expectations realistic. That said, the room was very clean and well maintained. The elevator, however, could use a deeper cleaning. A beach-view room is definitely worth the extra cost. The room also included a coffee maker with very good coffee, along with a refrigerator and microwave, which are especially helpful for a longer stay. The food at Eighteen 18 Eat + Drink was great, although the drinks were a bit pricey. There is easy access to the beach, and I appreciated that guests must use their room key to re-enter the hotel from the beach side. It adds an extra layer of security. There are a few restaurants within walking distance of the hotel (not fast food). In addition, USS Wisconsin, a World War II-era Essex-class carrier museum, is just a stone’s throw away. Overall, it was a great visit!
- 5/5
- 5/5
Absolutely phenomenal service. The front desk was responsive, polite and helpful. When I return to Corpus Christi i will be returning. And a special shoutout to the GM for the help.
- 5/5
Everything was absolutely great..!
- 3/5
I only have one complaint and it’s about the restroom door it kept coming off the track and was to hard to open and close and at one point it even fell off entirely. I told the manager about it and they said they fixed it but when I went back to the room the door was still hard to open and close. Also there was no knob on the inside to open it so it was complicated
- 5/5
Overall a wonderful trip. The staff was very helpful starting from check in. I enjoyed the view from our room. The breakfast buffet was phenomenal. I wished it was cheaper. The bad and the staff was amazing. We enjoyed the room. I didn't like the fact that a lot of locals went and did the pool. They need to have better security. The beach view was amazing!
