- Helpful staff
- Convenient location
- Uncomfortable beds
- Cleanliness issues

Bring an extra blanket, bed spread was very thin. AC wasn't turned on so room was hot for awhile, but it did eventually cool off.
- 4/5
Great spot in the middle of town! Went out there for a show at the lumberyard and was pleasantly surprised how close the venue was to us. For the price and a quick overnight trip, Not a bad little spot to stay in.
- 4/5
The property was well rated and if we visit Canyon again we will likely stay there. It is worn and dated but clean. Bed was sleepable and the staff was courteous. Noise wasn’t an issue at night and nothing was a major red flag. In room #18 the TV would not connect to channels and the hair dryer did not function. For half the price of the other options it was livable and fair.
- 4/5
Love vintage roadside motels with front door parking! Good location. Easy access.
- 4/5
The room was clean but could use some maintenance - caulking in the shower. Ice dispenser was a bin system on the outside of the building with lots of potential for contamination. Other than that every thing was good.
- 5/5
Great old school place to stay. Pleasant staff. The parking is a little tight.
- 4/5
Very affordable option for a weekend trip to Palo Duro! The front desk staff were very nice, and the rooms were relatively maintained. It seems to be an older property though, since there's a lot of wear and tear on the appliances, and I think the bathroom started leaking water at one point? The beds are also not top quality (hard matress), but that was to be expected for a motel.
- 4/5
We were right off the Main Street going through town, and traffic noise was not a problem.
- 5/5
Little out dated
- 4.5/5
No breakfast. I liked everything.
- 3.5/5
Older property where the current owners have fixed it up quite nicely. Walk-in shower. The full size window blind had a beautiful photo of the old west on it. The ice machine is one that is used inside of a restaurant where employees use a scoop to dip ice. It should have been one where you place your bucket under it and hit a button. I am surprised that the health department allows this type of ice machine sitting outside at a motel. They could definitely do more cleaning in the bathroom. We wouldn’t use the shower because it was dirty.
- 5/5
staff was very helpful. i was having trouble getting my park pass and the desk clerk said he could help me with that and booked my trip through the park. printed up my pass and a map for me .this made my day! room was clean and very comfortable. we just did a 5000 mile road trip and this room was way above any of the other rooms we stayed at in this price range.
- 5/5
Parking was a little tight. Older hotel but well kept
- 1.5/5
Convenient central location, bed was comfortable Dilapidated, dirty, nonfunctional tv, dozens of flies in the room,
- 5/5
But the room was clean, towels clean. Shower worked well. The price was affordable. I’d stay here again.
- 2/5
The bathroom trash had not been emptied from previous stay. There was only one bath towel and the towels were thin and dingy. After returning to our room around midnight the sewer smell filled the room. You con not even watch local news on the television. On a positive note the beds were clean and comfortable. The shower was good and the lighting was great.
- 5/5
Live staying here. Have done it dozens of times
- 1/5
Bathroom was dirty; hair was all over the bathtub. The bed was terrible. Mattress was cheap and still had plastic cover that made noise all night and the bed/frame was loud every time I rolled over. Traveled for business so I needed a zero balance folio. I paid at the hotel when I arrived and I asked for one in the morning when I checked out. They said I had to get it online since I booked online, but they never updated the folio online to show the payment was applied so now I won't get reimbursed. 0/10 recommend, which us unfortunate because I like to support mom and pop places like this instead of big chain hotels.
- 4/5
Clean, attractive and great location Not a thing
- 3/5
Location I was unable to shower, no mat no handle to get in and out and a slick floor. A prorated amount for the night we had to give up. No room to get out of the bed on the left side had to crawl to the bottom everything too tight.
- 5/5
I love supporting privately owned businesses and seeing older properties upkept. The Buffalo Inn was super clean and well maintained. The owner was very polite and helpful. Perfect for my night in Canyon. I highly recommend staying here....
- 4/5
Cute litte motel
- 5/5
I was pleasantly surprised with the condition of one of the older motels. Very clean and updated. Well worth the money, although I did get charged an extra $25 for early check in, which I thought unnecessary since the room was already available and nothing extra had to be done. Also it advertises continental breakfast at the desk which wasn't available.
- 4.5/5
Nice night with friendly staff
- 4/5
Had a health issue and it was accommodated by management
- 5/5
Great price, clean, perfect location just across WTAMU. Great water shower pressure and a/c. Recommended!
- 1/5
We were so disappointed. The room was full of flies, very outdated, the bed was hard. Would not stay there again.
- 3.5/5
The property needs some improvements, but overall it was a good stay.
- 5/5
There wasn't anything i didn't like. A bottle of water in the room may have been helpful
- 5/5
This is an old-fashioned motel, but with tons of upgrades. The room was great; bed was super comfortable. The check-in was easy and quick. I would definitely recommend this motel and will stay there again.
- 1.5/5
The Restroom smelled like sewer gasses where lingering in there. Small flies everywhere in restroom
- 3/5
The customer service was great.
- 4/5
Have stayed there often. Middle of town. Can't complain
- 4/5
The room was clean but the lingering scent of cigarettes was present. Staff was helpful and speedy. We would stay again.
- 5/5
It was great. Friendly and clean
- 3/5
Motel was old which was okay could have even been charming, however it is in disrepair. Sheets were either dirty or stained, towels we worn out and stained, shower grout was dirty/stained. Motel had no vending machines. Room was not made up each day.
- 4/5
Great area to stay coming thru Canyon Tx area,,,,, convenient to some real good cafe's and bigger restaurants plus Palo Duro Canyon,,,,,
- 5/5
Very pleased with everything. The bed was very comfortable. The room was clean and nicely decorated. Everything was perfect
- 5/5
Everything was great!
- 4/5
It was very convenient to Palo Duro Canyon, staff very friendly, very quiet and great AC. TV did not work very well due to slow internet.
- 3/5
Location. It was around fast food and stores. Packed parking. Room smelled moldy.
- 5/5
Staff was friendly
- 4/5
The mattress was firm and seemed brand new. Fresh paint. New bathroom fixtures. AC was great. Good work table. Plenty of space with 3 chairs and a king sized bed. Coffee pot in the room! Easy checkin and checkout. A few ants in the sink and one bug. TV would not come on. I was tired so just went to bed. Great instant hot water. I suggest getting a room in the middle of the motel. If you get a room too close to the road, the traffic might bother some. Had iron but no ironing board.
- 2.5/5
We constantly had an with the TV.
- 4/5
The room was spacious and clean, not much to complain about! There isn’t a lot of outside space for walking your dogs, have to just walk on the sidewalk for awhile till you find patches of grass. Overall, a good stay!
- 0.5/5
Stain on bed, bed was hard, tv didn't work, bad smell
- 5/5
This was my second stay here. The staff were helpful and the property was very clean. It was a quiet place with very little road noise.
- 4/5
Very helpful staff
- 4/5
clean and nice people
- 4.5/5
Room was spacious and clean, bed comfortable, parking just outside the room and a nice area to sit and hang out. The motel is centrally located and the hosts were kind and helpful. The only thing that we really didn't like is that we were charged more than the total on Booking.com, saying that it was some sort of additional tax, but this wasn't mentioned anywhere in our booking and made us feel uncomfortable.
- 5/5
Nice hotel close to Palo Duro state canyon. Rooms were clean, staff was great, located walking distance to restaurants.
- 5/5
Buffalo Inn was very clean. The bed was comfortable. I loved that I could unload my things right by the door.
- 5/5
Convienent location, personable staff , and secure parking . Easy walk to good restaurant, Buffs.
- 4/5
Price was decent. Checkout was a bit confusing. I guess i was supposed to just set my card on the desk and not ring the bell. Lady came up and grabbed card set it on desk and took the bell and the sign to ring bell down and went back to her room. Maybe put a sign up saying to do that. It was a good stay though and smoking section outside. Very close to Palo Duro canyon. Bed was a little firm but not bad. Was quiet and felt safe.
- 4/5
For a babic spend the night stay, it was fine. If looking for a resort type atmosphere, probably best to look further.
- 4/5
conveniet location, surrounding area with many food options, close to university sports facilities, staff was great, allows service animals with no hassle
- 4.5/5
The bed was a little too firm
- 3/5
Bed is firm but ok Door key didn’t work late at night when returning to motel
- 4/5
The room was adequate for the price. I liked not having carpet, but our socks were filthy from walking on the bare floor. The bedding, towels, etc were clean and the bed was comfortable. The easy chair in the room was disgustingly dirty and the bathroom could definitely use some towel bars or hooks. Overall, we enjoyed our stay.
- 4/5
Parking was tight but free. Breakfast was a gift certificate for a free breakfast at McDonald’s.
- 4/5
Need more caulk around the shower. Other than that, it was fine. Managers Tammy and Victor were great. Thank you.
- 2/5
Parking was very tight. Room 22, Old fridge outside our door. Cover on the bed was dirty. Was only a sheet on the bed. TV didn’t work. Shower head was crusted over. Floor in the bathroom was dirty.
- 5/5
Clean room, staff was friendly and helpful, parking was right in front of room, overall great experience.
- 4/5
Stayed one night. Comfortable hotel and you can park outside your door for easy loading and unloading.
- 2/5
Stop here if you can sleep comfortably with all of that....or if you bring all of your own linens and supplies, then maybe it's not too bad for $95 a night. Just needed a place to stay while traveling through for a total of about 7 hours to sleep, but couldn't even bring myself to shower. Only could fall asleep because I was so exhausted. Never again!
- 4/5
This was a return visit for us. The staff was wonderful. Our daughter left a stuffed animal on accident and they were able to locate it and get it back to us. We look forward to visiting again.
- 5/5
I was able to park right outside the door. Be sure to ask for directions on the heating system. It was late when I realized I needed it and never figured it out on my own. Luckily there was an extra blanket in a drawer and the temperature didn’t drop too low overnight.
- 4/5
We would stay at the Buffalo Inn again!
- 5/5
Great location, comfey room, friendly and attentive staff!
- 4/5
The room was clean, bed new. The remodel was good. Front desk clerk was friendly
- 4/5
The room was very clean and our night was very quiet!!
- 4/5
It was a good room for the cost. The cleaner smell was strong. I wish cheaper hotels would stop that.

- 5/5
Owner was welcoming and hospitable. Room was clean and had all the basic necessities. Across from a police station which made us feel very safe!
- 5/5
The room was clean and looked great! Great room especially for the price! Will stay again.
- 5/5
Everything was great
- 4/5
The room was updated and clean. Staff was welcoming and friendly.
- 4/5
Room served its purpose. The image of the Lighthouse in Palo Duro On the Window blind was neat. The shower pressure and temperature great.
- 1/5
Not answering phone for check in
- 4/5
Parking right in front of room. Heater was comfortable. Nice sized room
- 4/5
Clean, friendly staff, convenient, and budget-friendly.
- 3/5
Excellent location property seemed a little rundown. Room had holes in the ceiling, had a creepy vibe to the place.
- 5/5
good
- 4/5
Love location
- 3/5
No ice machine, no breakfast. room was nice
- 4/5
The bed was good. Only one of the night stand light fixtures had a working bulb. The lavatory faucet sprayed water everywhere. Really cheap toilet paper.
- 4/5
I was a nice place to stay
- 1/5
Dirty, road noise, broken TV
- 5/5
Clean and unique
- 3/5
No food was available, no ice was available. Room was clean but tv didn’t work properly. Had to get manager to come & explain how tv worked, no explanation was in the room internet was extremely slow. Hot & cold water taps were mixed up in bathroom.
- 5/5
Staff is friendly, room clean, older but nice.
- 3/5
The room was just okay and for the price, it was as a good value. That said, the sofa and upholstered bench seat in the room were pretty dirty and stained, giving a dirty look to the room. Most of the other rooms in that area were over $100 which I did not want to spend so overall it was OK. The bed was comfortable. It’s just that the furniture was so dirty.
- 3/5
Ok for the price. It could use a better tv and beds. The bed was too firm for us and the bedding was very thin. It was clean. The tv was difficult to operate. The bathroom was clean and soaps were nice enough. Very close to the canyon. The town is interesting.
- 4/5
For the location and price next to WT it’s good.
- 4/5
Taking off 1 star only because we found a couple of unrecognizable bugs immediately after we checked in. However the owners were great and switched us immediately to another room without a problem. That room was perfect and had great water pressure in the shower. We only stayed 1 night but the beds were comfortable and the room nice and cold. Was nicely updated. Loved that the fridge had a freezer section. Would stay again. Very nice owners who manage the property. One thing to be aware of is that they are not always on property. They use a Ring doorbell. So press the button. You may have to wait 10 minutes to check in.
- 3/5
Most uncomfortable bed I never slept in. Not a wink of sleep. Otherwise, you get what you pay for. Oh yeah, TV didn't work either.
- 5/5
Amazing price for a clean room! I felt safe here with my kids. The owners are working diligently on making repairs and upgrades! The little patio in the middle is adorable and perfect for morning coffee or gathering with adults at night. Their little boy is an added burst of joy to see everyday!
- 5/5
Older hotel but it has been remodeled. Beautiful!
- 2/5
Expedia receipt did not match what we were charged.
- 4/5
Consistent
- 5/5
I like the idea of parking at my door
- 2/5
This place is rough. The kind that mom doesn't think is okay and dad says is fine, but secretly dad knows it's not okay.
- 3/5
The constant loud buzzing sound I assume from the exterior parking lot light kept me awake at times. It's very loud, but I understand (and appreciate) it's for security purposes to illuminate the parking area. During the night, I got up to use the bathroom and found 2 live huge cockroaches - one by the front door and another in the bathroom. Also found a pink press on nail in one of the towels.
- 5/5
We had a great stay. The staff was incredible and the room was exactly what we needed. Very affordable.
- 5/5
The staff is very friendly and helpful.. rooms are clean and showers are big... always enjoy staying at the Buffalo Inn
- 4/5
Concerns: 1. Floor sometimes makes noise like stepping on and off a flat piece of metal like a cookie sheet. In the middle of the night, that was quite startling. Perhaps the flooring was installed over an unusual, metallic surface. 2. Shower curtain had an unsightly stain. Nice features: desk clerk is friendly. There is a patio area with a big screen TV. It looks like a good gathering place for guests.
- 5/5
Perfect for one night!!
- 3/5
Carpet could do with a deep clean
- 4/5
