The hotel is in a good location. Nice bar and restaurant. Rooms are small and the bathroom is tiny and outdated.

This is a very well run hotel. The room was very nice and the furnishings were perfect for a historic hotel. It is a beautiful property in a great location.

Love the Boutique vibes! We usually stay at more corporate establishments, but we really enjoyed the quirky touches on the shampoo, lotion bottles, etc. Wish the bathroom had more than just a Pedestal sink however. We needed more space to lay things out a bit. But for just the overnight stay we were there for, it was perfectly fine, and we enjoyed our stay immensely. Would definitely recommend giving this hotel a try, and we will be back again soon.

This is a lovely and historic property. Great central location in the downtown area, near the famous Driskill hotel and other famous buildings. The staff were friendly and helpful. I enjoyed breakfast at the cafe in the morning and had a lovely lunch at the adjoining restaurant, The Roaring Fork.

We had such high hopes after seeing the beautiful pics of hotel and the room with 2 double beds. Sadly, our room was nothing like it promised in the advertisement. The AC in our room never worked snd it wasn’t until I called down to the front desk well after midnight…maybe 2:30 am, that I was asked if we finally wanted to change rooms? That was just one of the negatives we experienced. The lack of sleep in the hot and humid room left us irritable and exhausted. We both left the hotel feeling incredibly disappointed and let down. But, as a single mom that gets very few moments like this with her 23 year old son, I left utterly heartbroken. Being on a teacher’s salary, trips like these with my son are extremely rare. I just wanted our mother/son road trip to Austin to the best for him, and a nice and comfortable hotel stay plays an integral of any trip you take..no matter who you are. I truly wanted to love the Sonesta…but I’m truly feeling like I let Zach down.

Friendly and funky and unique. And it’s a 10-15 minute walk to downtown and the plaza.

Great staff was awesome
- 4/5
Nice building in a very convenient area. All staff were very pleasant and helpful. It is an older building but is overall well maintained. However, there was an issue with the hanging of our bathroom door, which was obviously known about due to the stripped screw heads on the upper hinge from an apparent failed repair job, which made closing the door difficult and loud to close. Nevertheless, we would not hesitate to stay again.
- 5/5
We really enjoyed our stay. A beautiful room and lovely bar upstairs in the hotel. Great location and friendly staff.
- 5/5
Absolutely love this romantic old hotel. Right within the heart of so much austin has to offer. Splendid!
- 5/5
I had a great stay. Myneka welcomed me at check in. She was very helpful. Not only she gave me the room I preferred but also was helpful in locating convenient restaurants late in the evening to order food from. She went out of the way to help out. I have not come across this kind of hospitality before and I am a frequent traveler. Thank you Myneka. Also, the rest of the hotel facility and staff is very good. Location is very convenient. Room prices are very reasonable. I will book this hotel every time I am in Austin.

I planned a quick getaway to Austin for the weekend. I enjoyed that the hotel was in downtown walking distance for the night life. In addition, it was easy to get to Barton Springs Pool.
- 5/5
Loved staying at this hotel and love how they have preserved such a historic location.
- 5/5
Quick overnight trip to Austin and it was the perfect location. The pool and hot tub were not very clean but the rooms were clean
- 5/5
Great location! Close to everything downtown. Everything about our room was excellent. Roomy accommodation and great bathroom with vanity area. The restaurants and Happy Hour offerings were all great. We really enjoyed sitting at the bar terrace.

Super friendly staff, clean rooms. Nice hot shower. Soft towels. The restaurant was super delicious. Only complaint was the hot tub was not being tended like it should have been. Other than that, I would absolutely stay again and would recommend it to friends and family.
- 5/5
Great stay in the heart of Austin! The staff and amenities were amazing in this historic hotel.
- 5/5
Wonderful staff, quiet and well maintained hotel, large rooms. Excellent location.
- 5/5
Great property! Clean and quiet. Friendly and helpful staff!
- 4/5
It’s a beautiful historical building with the comfort ie-est pillows and bed. Super convenient location especially for film or tv festivals. Unfortunately there was no real fridge or microwave. The fridge that is there is like one that used to hold drinks however it’s so small that my go-to box from Roaring Fork didn’t fit. I had to put it on its side to get it to fit.
- 5/5
Valet was very attentive. Bar staff was very friendly and provided great service. Overall, I enjoyed my stay and will be back.
- 4/5
The Courtyard was beautiful - loved the balcony views of it & to pool area!
- 5/5
Check in was easy. Room was nice and neat and clean. Didn’t receive the vip drink. Wasn’t sure if i needed to ask. Close to everything and a quick uber ride to every where.
- 5/5
The staff was friendly and enthusiastic. The hotel is in a perfect location to explore Austin.

Great property and in a great location. The hotel is very charming and we were upgraded to a junior suite/corner room with a great view of congress ave and Downtown. Enjoyed my birthday weekend and SFA hotel.
- 3/5
In addition, the room heating system kept turning on automatically, which was very uncomfortable during our stay. We honestly expected much more from this hotel.

CLEAN ROOMS
- 5/5
Great service and lovely art and nice views
- 5/5
The hotel itself is beautiful, the staff are the friendliest people in a hotel I’ve experienced. The rooms are nice. I’d definitely come here again. One thing I’d say is bring long charging cords because outlets are scarce, 10 foot cords worked well for me. The room furniture is bulky and takes up a lot of space.
- 5/5
Everyone at the hotel was so kind and helpful . The room was clean , wonderful location downtown. Highly recommend !
- 5/5
The hotel & staff were excellent! Only downer was the Cafe for breakfast. Service was extremely slow. So if you are trying to catch a quick breakfast before catching a flight or on to the next adventure, I would say find a restaurant outside the hotel.
- 5/5
The hotel staff were very professional and the rooms were clean! It’s also the second oldest hotel in Austin which is really cool.
- 5/5
I enjoyed the hotel very much, and every single thing a person could want was in that room. Ordinarily, the Royal Sonesta is out of my price range, so it was a special treat to stay there, and especially to be treated with such consideration – not only of my physical limitations, but of me as a person.
- 5/5
Great
- 5/5
Clean room;Great Staff
- 5/5
The tub shower was perfect. The hotel had the best gym equipment of any hotel I have ever stayed in.
- 5/5
Fantastic location!
- 4/5
But aside from that we had a great stay.
- 5/5
Nice restaurant and bar in the same hotel.
- 4/5
This is a gorgeous historic hotel, and on the whole we enjoyed our stay, but it is above an all-night speakeasy. 3 out of our 4 nights we had loud base drum sounds well into the morning. This was fine for the adults in our party who could sleep in ear plugs, but my daughter was kept up until 1-2am those 3 nights. If you’re a party of adults- 5 stars. If you have any children or sensitive sleepers- skip.
- 5/5
The most friendly staff!

Chilled after show with friends in the lobby with a night cap, comfy chairs n baquetttes. Bellhop valet took my my bags to store in car when I checked out though wasn’t heading to airport till after lunch. Gave me directions n where to gas up…top notch service from real humans!
- 5/5
Really great hotel location. The staff is amazing, especially Iris at the front desk. Good in the dining rooms was great and I enjoyed the ability to work out in a safe and clean gym. I will be coming back and bringing my fiancé next time.
- 5/5
Great staff!
- 5/5
This hotel is our favorite! From the friendly staff to the cloud-like bedding and great pillows! Rooms are clean and comfortable and the walls are thick. The 2nd floor bar area has an outdoor seating area that overlooks Congress which is fun for people-watching. There's also an outdoor section where my husband could smoke a cigar, which made him happy. The valet parking is amazing and the attendants go above and beyond to provide excellent service.
