Reviews
The hotel receives mixed reviews with guests appreciating the cleanliness of the rooms, full kitchen amenities, and friendly staff. However, there are consistent complaints about outdated furniture, musty smells, and lack of maid service.

Excellent value rooms. They are big and spacious w/lots of amenities. I checked in at 11pm and was able to get my room no problem. Look forward to coming back again next trip to Downtown.

Stairwell has dog poop both days I was there
- 2/5
I cannot recommend staying here.
- 4/5
I was confused when I made the reservation because there is a Simply Sonesta and a regular Sonesta Suite on the same road. My experience with Sonesta Suites in NC was a good breakfast but with Simply Sonesta you are responsible for your own. Fortunately we had food so it was not a problem, just a bit of a surprise. Also, the clerk did not mention about the appliance borrowing option. That would have been helpful. It was close to my brother and it was clean and sufficient. all in all a good inexpensive place to stay in Austin.
- 4/5
Hotel was good, clean. Parking lot was extremely dark - needs more lighting.
- 4/5
I was in Austin to help a friend move and needed a place to stay. I literally only slept here and it was just fine. It was quiet, the beds were comfortable, the staff were friendly. Didn’t get to use the gym but it appeared to be decently equipped and a good size
- 5/5
I travel to Austin weekly. this is a great location to The Domain, is a good size suite with small kitchen.
- 5/5
The room was great. It was very clean and has a lot of great amenities at an amazing price.
- 0.5/5
Rooms outdated and not the cleanest
- 4/5
Good hotel
- 5/5
Awesome thank you
- 5/5
Everything was fine .
- 5/5
Nice staff and experience there was good besides the construction going on right out side our window. Also when our AC was on it smelt bad like pee and mildew. We’re lazy and weren’t there much so we kinda just dealt with it but I’m very sure the hotel would have changed me rooms if I did ask.
- 5/5
It was very good price for the quality. Very few places surprise me and this place definitely exceeded my expectations. The front desk staff were great and super friendly. The room was great, very large and equipped with all the essentials. My only gripe with the room was the outdated TVs. Another thing worth noting was that the hallway floors felt like they were soft? Like sunken in, perhaps due to previous water damage. When I was there, there was construction going on so I assume it will be addressed soon. Overall I will definitely recommend and hope to come back soon.

Ok

- Walking into the building, I was greeted by an employee who had the biggest smile on her face and was most accommodating. I inquired if I could stay an extra night and she replied, 'absolutely'. - When I reached my floor, I could tell that it had recently been upgraded with new laminent flooring and wall paint. Entering my room, the immediately smelled a very pleasant aroma. The full kitchen, along with cups/plates, a couple of pots/pans, and utensils were neatly arranged. The a/c was on and the temperature was a big relief from the hot/humid outside. The layout of my room (a studio) was very well arranged. The bathroom was well appointed and there was a rather large closet with wooden hangers, an iron, and an ironing board all waiting to be used. - Overall, this location is very close to everything, well appointed rooms, and very quiet at night making for a good night's sleep. Also, the cost is very affordable. I'll be returning to this location on future trips to Austin, TX. Whether for a short stay or a longer stay, I recommend this hotel!

Hotel was nice and bed was comfy.

The first check in that I booked got canceled and given away The second one I booked I was able to get the 212$ room because of the 100$ deposit and still havnt received my deposit back and had a additional charge of 112 dollars in my account transactions Large deposit low quality room
- 0.5/5
I was denied a rom and then when booked another was charged 212 then also 112 again
- 1/5
Run down motel, smelled awful, dogs barking in rooms, hair on towels, took $100 out for a hold. Rust on everything, stains on walls and furniture. Check in staff was super friendly
- 5/5
Maddie at the front desk was wonderful, empathetic, engaging, and she made us feel very welcomed. My boyfriend and I had been out of our apartment for a week (and in and out of another hotel) and were stressed by the time we got to the hotel, but her customer service was unmatched and it gave us a bit of relief and care after sharing our story with her. The room was also comfortable and had all the kitchenware (especially the real coffee maker) to make it feel more at home. Thanks for the customer service and stay!
- 1/5
I asked to speak with the manager, manager refused to speak with me saying he didn't want to. This place is terrible. A few of the staffers that handle food prep and cleaning are okay. But all of the front end staff is appalling. Never stay here!
- 5/5
Great value for a quick trip.
- 5/5
Great place for a good night sleep and for longer stays. Good size bath n kitchen also
- 0.5/5
that there were cockroaches
- 2/5
The hotel charged me for three nights even though I only booked one through hotels.com. The front desk worker did help me get a refund, which I appreciated, but he definitely didn’t seem too happy to be there. Room was not as nice as the pictures portray. Some dirty areas.
- 3/5
It was okay. Housekeeping was slow.
- 3/5
It's was good for the price
- 2.5/5
Location Laundry and fitness center were closed and notice wasn’t given.
- 3/5
This place is in serious need of updating/renovations etc. It just smelled old! Sonesta you can do better.
- 4/5
Great big oaks to chill under, beautiful potted plants added a nice touch to the entry way. Room was spacious and equipped with all I needed during my stay.
- 5/5
A couple of things that I'd bring a little more attention to would be the requirement of small deposit. I made this reservation through the app and there was no mention of deposit required. It wasn't a problem however for those that are budget minded it could create a hiccup. Also to note, I had phoned regarding an item that I accidently left in the room after check out. They couldn't locate it in lost & found, so they were going to check with House keeping and phone me back the next day. The returned call never materialized.
- 4/5
It’s was okay for the price. Should have researched better for another property.
- 5/5
Solid stay…no complaints.
- 5/5
The residents are kool . And staff is awsome. Very clean and comfortable. Nothing not to like
- 4/5
The room was adequate, recently updated but still showed signs of age. The in-room kitchen and full size refrigerator were great amenities. The location of the hotel is convenient to many other stores, shopping, food options.
- 3/5
The price was unbeatable and made the stay still worth it. While our room was clean, the smell of the cleaning product or air freshener used was so strong and really unpleasant. The hallway carpet, walls etc were in poor shape but I believe they are in the middle of a much needed refresh.
- 5/5
We did not need to use the kitchenette part of the room, but it was a very nice setup. I did use the coffee makert....All rooms have an ironing board, iron and of course hair dryer which saves time having to request them to be brought to you. The online info shows breakfast is included, and it was not. That was rough in the morning since we had to locates somewhere else to eat last minute.
- 3/5
It was ok, they are in the process of painting. Big fire ants in the room.
- 2/5
When I brought this up to the front desk, the manager Madison said she must have missed my room when putting up notices. It seems they could have informed me upon check-in the night before so that I would be aware. The painter put a plastic tarp over the window, which stayed for the next 2 days. It's not that I booked the room for a view, but it is incredibly claustrophobic when your window is blocked for your entire stay! As for cleanliness , the curtain is directly over the air conditioning vent, and was black with caked on dirt/dust. There is no way a housekeeper wouldn't have seen it. On a positive note, the front desk agent named Abby was very friendly.
- 4/5
Room is quite big, it is dated as far as furnishings and they were painting the outside so maybe in the procesa of a remodel but they were quiet. Convenient to The Domain, no breakfast included (bring snacks), sufficient parking, and staff was friendly. Room kitchen is pretty stacked and full fridge. Maybe after remodel and some better offerings when it comes to deinks and snacks, maybe a possible longer stay location but it was nice for one evening.
- 5/5
Everything on hand and available.
- 3/5
Check in staff was friendly and helpful. The exterior of the building was being renovated so the parking lot was a bit congested. The lobby area is very small but it serves its purpose.
- 5/5
Nice sized and clean room. Although I didn’t use the in room kitchen it had a stove, microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker and kitchen equipment. The hotel was quiet and the bed was comfortable. I stayed 3 nights and would definitely stay there again. Check in was efficient.
- 3/5
The plastic floor is sticky, and the carpet is felt a little bit wet in done area (due to humidity?)
- 3/5
The air perfume used in general inside the property and inside the room are strong. I would consider a less stronger product
- 3/5
Staff members knocked on the door two separate times in the morning for an “inventory check”… never had anyone disturb the room in the morning before check out, strange event.
- 0.5/5
Nothing There were no beds available after I booked a room
- 1/5
I asked one of the housekeepers when would they clean my room. She replied every 15 days. I told her I’m only here for 7 nights and that it was already 3 days one had come to clean my room. I also went to front desk to request for room cleaning the person told me on Monday you should have someone clean your room. I asked on a Saturday she told me on Sunday they only have one housekeeper. I wouldn’t ever stay at this hotel again.
- 4/5
There are better options in the area for guests who only need a night or two and want a hotel bar, breakfast, and common areas.
- 3.5/5
The location and cost were the main considerations and this delivered. The room was clean and comfortable. Overall a good deal if that is what you want. The halls kind of smelled and it seemed more like a short term rental than a hotel. The person next door had a big cat that came out into the hallway.
- 5/5
Great hotel, very clean and comfortable. Would recommend.
- 2/5
Terribly run down, outdated, and dirty. Gym is falling apart. Floors are filthy. Rooms are decrepit. This place just needs to be gutted and torn down. Don’t stay here.
- 5/5
the kitchen was great and the elevators worked great too. staff was AMAZING
- 5/5
Perfect location and easy access to tons of dining and shopping at Domain area
- 3/5
Ok hotel for a few days. Seems like its design for long stays so you will smell the food coming from other rooms.
- 5/5
Great value and location
- 5/5
Great staff nice and good option
- 2/5
Very old not updated.
- 5/5
Maddi was very helpful at the front desk
- 5/5
Super friendly staff
- 5/5
Everything was perfect!
- 5/5
The pull out bed was very worn and uncomfortable
- 5/5
Literally the best price to quality ratio i have ever seen through all my years of travelling, very nice hotel to stay at while you visit Austin, good location, friendly staff, everything worked well, no extra fee, EXCELLENT price etc. Genuinely can't recommend enough, I plan to come back to Austin and I will surely be back to this hotel. I could try to write about more things they could have added but for this price it's already a steal so I have nothing to complain about, just a great hotel all around.
- 5/5
Friendly place, comfortable, convenient!
- 4/5
Clean room and nice staff
- 3/5
The room was good for the price I paid. Not the most comfortable bed and the bathroom vent which automatically came on with light was annoying. Room coffee was good and I liked the area.
- 2/5
From the moment I arrived, the property felt a bit uncomfortable. The hallways are outdated, not very clean, and had a noticeable damp, “wet dog” smell (likely due to being pet-friendly). Unfortunately, the cleanliness inside the room was also an issue. The carpet appeared VERY DIRTY I found clumps of hair, a small metal spring on the floor, and facial hair around the bathroom sink, and bathtub gets super clogged (shin level) The finishes and overall condition of the room are quite worn and outdated, unlike what the photos suggest. However, I will say the hotel is very quiet, and the staff was friendly and helpful, which is the reason for my rating. If cleanliness were improved, this place could easily deserve a higher score for its category. For families, I wouldn’t recommend this hotel. It may be more suitable for short stays, travelers passing through, or adults traveling with pets. Personally, I don’t consider it ideal for kids. After reading more reviews during my stay, I also got the impression that some long-term guests may be encouraged to leave positive ratings, so I would take reviews into consideration carefully. Would I or my family stay here again? DEFINITELY NOT
- 3/5
Rarely anyone at front desk. Hallways smelled like food. the room was clean but that was the best thing.
- 5/5
Our stay began with a warm welcome from a friendly and enthusiastic hostess. She was genuinely warm and caring.
- 4/5
I enjoyed my stay very much, very quiet place. This is a pet-friendly place, so many pets around.
- 5/5
great spot
- 5/5
Convenient location
- 4.5/5
Wifi a bit slow for working from the hotel room.
- 5/5
Great staff
- 5/5
Good place to stay for a short visit.
- 5/5
clean comfortable room, can hear other guests if they're being loud but otherwise not too bad
- 4/5
Clean room, thanks for the complimentary upgrade

- 4/5
It was a nice room, however I expected more.
- 3/5
Found some roaches in the bathroom and kind of dumb that i couldn’t use my chime card with them when i got there at first but they gave me my deposit refund back through my chime so that didn’t make sense. Overall an ok stay and really nice staff.
- 3/5
People smoking pot outside and inside hotel the smell was strong. There was waiting period for someone to the front desk. Killed a cockroach in the laundry room.
- 1/5
Room had a foul stale stinch, had to turn the tv by hand (no remote). Room was hot due to poorly installed ac unit. Had a contact high due to all the weed smoking being done outside around the entrance and sides of the property. Definitely wouldn’t book here again I’d rather sleep in my car!!!
- 5/5
It was a decent place
- 5/5
This is my go-to hotel in Austin. It’s quiet, safe, clean, convenient, affordable, good linens, hot water, good tv, comfy bed!
- 5/5
Staff is great, this my second time staying here. The location is great and near a lot of the stores and mall. Will definitely continue staying here since I come often to visit my daughter at school. Thank you 😊
- 2/5
Could’ve cleaned the room better
- 3/5
The front desk was
- 3/5
The room was clean, it was quiet. However, it's more of an extended stay, not an overnight or two stay kind of place. They do not clean the rooms daily and they did not replace the stock items like coffee, sugar, towels etc. There is no breakfast and the items you can purchase to eat and/or drink are very limited.
- 3/5
Room was good. They are nice. Clean
- 4.5/5
Very nice place in Domain area, with shopping and entertainment centers nearby. Whole Food Market is within short walking distance and so is Panera. If you feel like watching movie Regal is right across the street. The rooms have everything what is listed plus they can give you some additional kitchen appliances (e.g. blender) if you need it. There is also a laundry room and a gym of the first floor, free of charge. The staff is super nice, everybody was helpful and friendly.
- 5/5
Comfortable bed and pillows, places to sit, lots of storage and places to put stuff. There are woods around it and it was surprisingly quiet. Good places to walk our dogs. Good shower. Staff was responsive. A little shabby, evidence of pet damage, not the cleanest.
- 1/5
I am surprised this had such high ratings. The manager didn’t try to argue, just processed our refund.
- 3/5
very outdated, pictures didn't match room, weird smell throughout the entire building, thin walls so you hear everything...you get what you pay for. staff is very friendly though
- 5/5
For the price this place provides a great value. The place is clean, the kitchennete is well stocked, the bed is comfortable, the location is good, the facilities are reasonable, and I felt safe. Not much. I don't love the $100 security deposit they take upon check-in, but I get it.
- 4/5
Room was a little musty, steam cleaning planned after our stay. Happy my medicine bag was found and I was able to get it back. VERY happy front desk pays attention to side doors with who walks in, ensuring safety of guests! Bonus for that!!
- 5/5
The price for a kitchen and the cleanliness was outstanding. The bed was comfortable, and a lot of space. Would definitely stay again. That I couldn't stay longer....
- 4/5
I would stay here again and again, just for the customer service that we received. Exceptional! Rooms and bedding were clean. Not many amenities. They have a laundry and gym. Nice gazebo with two gas grills.
- 4/5
The amazing staff and the district manager. All who were helpful with any issues and questions that I may have had. They had a lot of patience.
- 4/5
Yes, the room was clean
- 4/5
The room was good and very clean. The desk and office setup is outstanding, the best part of the room. Wish there would have been some USB adapters on the desk - if there were any, I didn't find them. Bed was acceptable. Shower was a little bit industrial and flow of water was kind of harsh. You have to make your coffee in the room as they have no coffee in the lobby. TV was kind of old and small but not the worst thing. When I got off the elevator and was walking along the corridor to my room, it kind of smelled funky - partly because people are cooking meals in their rooms. Location is very good near the Domain. Overall, I would say a B+.
- 5/5
Everything
- 4/5
Really nice place to stay long
- 4/5
Bathroom was spacious. For whatever reason though the to flush you had to hold the basket down for about 10 seconds to actually flush. The room itself was clean and the HVAC unit worked well. The lobby/check in area is small and there is nowhere to sit comfortably while waiting. Staff was extremely kind and professional. Hotel is in a really good area. There is some retail shopping, grocery store, movie theater and a dog park all right across the street. This was particularly nice to just get out and walk. We stayed here for the Austin International Half Marathon. We will stay here every year. Hotel is literally at the starting line. With the cold weather, this was extremely convenient.
- 5/5
Staff was very friendly. Great area. Will stay here again since my daughter attends UT Austin I come often to visit. Thank you!
- 3.5/5
Burner top on stove didn't work well.
- 5/5
I stayed one night here just for the half marathon. I have never stayed in a cleaner room. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it. You can't beat the price
- 5/5
Business trip..hotel was quiet i stayed during the week ...will be staying there again. felt safe and clean
- 5/5
This place was much nicer than I expected.
- 5/5
Very nice accommodations i was pleased.

The staff was amazing and very accommodating
- 3/5
Room was ok, parking was limited
- 5/5
Spacious and comfortable. Felt like home.
- 4.5/5
Unclear why but they couldn't find my Booking reservation. They checkef me in and later straightened out reservation confusion.
- 2/5
The staff was really nice and friendly but the room on the other hand wasn't what I expected. The picture looked way better.
- 5/5
Room was large, good set up for long stays. Has everything you need. Would stay again.
- 4/5
I paid 89$ on a Friday night which is pretty good for austin. There were many others at that price but this one was close to my work conference and had reviews about the staff. The staff was in fact very helpful and friendly, a rarity at more economical hotels. Maddison was very helpful and friendly and quick ti help. My room was big, clean and comfortable. The hotel was quiet overall, though the doors are loud when they close. Area was really safe and a huge array of stores and malls to walk around were a 4 min drive away.
