Reviews
The hotel receives mixed reviews, with some guests expressing extreme dissatisfaction and others praising their stay. Common points of praise include the beautiful property, comfortable rooms, friendly staff, and excellent location.
- Beautiful property
- Comfortable rooms
- Inconsistent service
- Overpriced and overrated
- 5/5
The property is very beautiful and relaxing. Great rooms and I loved the big shower. I would only recommend that the front desk people would be more knowledgeable about other things to do in Austin and good places to site see. Other than that, it was a great anniversary getaway!
- 5/5
The location is exceptional. It is clean. The staff is helpful and friendly.
- 3/5
Upon checking in there was no one to valet my vehicle. The bellman was unavailable and I had to load my luggage onto the cart. Later that evening upon returning from my event the valet again was missing in action. Subsequently, I parked my vehicle myself
- 5/5
One of our favorites in Austin!
- 4/5
But what i did not like is that, at 10pm i was told the kitchen is closed, there is nothing to order nothing to see, and thats kind of disappointing, i get it, no one should be typically eating late, but what if you had a long day, and dont want to leave the hotel searching for food, thats not really cool, at the very least kitchen should be open till 11pm on Thursday night, and going into the weekend…so yes, although the hotel, rooms and overall a good solid 3 star hotel, but as far as amenities NO, did not deliver, if i had known Would have stayed somewhere else…

Great staff and helpful service
- 5/5
I like the fact that your hotel is dog-friendly!
- 3/5
The hotel itself was nice. I would probably stay there again. However, I was supposed to get a $20 a day room credit to spend. They ended up charging me for the sodas and snacks I bought specifically to use the credit. I’ve reached out multiple times with no response or refund. The hotel seemed understaffed. No one answered the phone at the front desk. No one was in the bar/food area at the pool. We stayed in the Hummingbird Suite with a mini-kitchen but absolutely nothing was in it. Lots of empty cabinets. The suite was missing a trash can in one of the bathrooms. The phones didn’t work. No one replenished the coffee set-up before we arrived. We had to go down to the desk to ask for these things. Maintenance came to fix the phones. Someone brought coffee but no trashcan. The front desk person wasn’t very friendly upon checking out. No smile. No thanks for staying. I feel with the hotel being an 4.5 star hotel and charging me $400+ a night, it should have been more welcoming. That’s why I feel like they were unstaffed. Plus the $40 a night resort fee is a joke. $80 to sit at an unstaffed pool during lunchtime.
- 5/5
Fantastic! Loved the property and spacious suites! Great staff! Will be back!
- 5/5
Clean room, helpful staff, decent bad downstairs. We didn’t do breakfast there. The swimming pool and the area are small but suitable. Was a bit crowded in the evening. You can’t really swim laps there but it’s ok.
- 4/5
Really nice hotel, room was very clean and comfortable.

Location

The staff was extremely friendly, welcoming, and helpful throughout our stay. The in room dining services were also excellent, with great food and service. Overall, the atmosphere was quiet and relaxing, making it the perfect place to unwind and enjoy a peaceful getaway. We truly enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend Hotel Viata to anyone looking for a relaxing and enjoyable experience in Austin!
- 5/5
Amazing property, lovely spacious rooms, they met my high standards for bathroom quality in the rooms, highly recommend.
- 3/5
Nice place however kitchen staff made multiple errors while bringing food to room. It felt they did not care much. Apart from that nice place.
- 5/5
Great staff everyone was very attentive and when we needed more towels and blankets we didn’t have to ask twice!
- 5/5

Our stay was nice and relaxing, no issues or concerns. Staff was nice and helpful, rooms were nice and quiet, location was perfect and provided amazing views. Definitely would recommend and return.

Gfreat hotel. Can't wait to book my nexxt stay!
- 5/5
Staff and views were Amazing! I would recommend a deep window cleaning of the entire building the views are breathtaking but windows are very dirty. Same for all the wood through the room and hotel.
- 5/5

The staff were nice and helpful. The rooms are nice, but the furniture is a bit worn. The views and location are amazing.
- 5/5
Loved the staff. Everyone from Troy in the bar and Patrick in valet was so impressed with their service
- 5/5
Now we are working to get our money back. Very frustrating.

- 5/5
Very good service.
- 5/5
We had a girls weekend and stayed at Hotel Viata! We really enjoyed our stay. Our room was spacious and fit the five of us. We loved the pool and amenities. We did a lot of exploring but also hung out at the pool and on the property. It was relaxing and a beautiful hotel. Will definitely return.
- 5/5
This visit was our 2nd but thanks to the service and attention we received from Patrick & Victoria it will not be the last. We were extremely disappointed with the rudeness we received from Ambrian at check-in but as soon as we let Patrick know how we were treated, he went above & beyond to try to rectify the issues we encountered. We watched Ambrian check in other guests and she was not rude with them, so it really made us feel that we were not welcome. She didn't explain anything about the hotel just told us to scan a QR code if we wanted to know anything. She refused to acknowledge that we were there celebrating our 1st anniversary, but again Patrick and Victoria cared SO much and didn't hesitate to make us feel welcome and celebrated. We will only return if/when they are working during our visit. One bad apple or bad attitude can really make or break a guest's visit, especially after a long road trip to get there. On a brighter note, the rooms are immaculate. The pool is comfortable, relaxing, & private. The hot tub is the perfect temperature. We enjoyed the rum punch from the pool bar. We love the sit down shower, water pressure, and hot water. Beds are comfy, rooms are cozy, perfect for a couples weekend getaway.

The host on Friday night ( around 9:20) was very helpful, professional and welcoming .. restaurant experience : super pleasant - minimum wait , great service , good food .. host on Saturday night ( front desk ) could be nicer and less attitude .. in general , good hotel , good location . We will definitely come back . Thanks

Good spot. .,,,,,,,,,,…………
- 5/5
Great experience had a great week with my wife
- 5/5
Everything was wonderful and the room was very spacious and comfortable.
- 3.5/5
The resort was very pretty and well kept. Bed was comfortable and pool area was nice. Enjoyed the live music. The only pool service of any kind doesn’t start until 12. I think they could do better by starting at 11. We ordered room service, they said they were out of oatmeal but they still charged me for the oatmeal. The restaurant and food was overpriced and tasted mediocre.
- 5/5
Wish we had more time. There really enjoyed it nic spa and sona.
- 5/5
Excellent customer service
- 3/5
Booked and paid through Expedia then changed again for the room at checkout. Ordered and paid for drinks at the pool that never came. Pay attention to the changes when checking out.
- 5/5
Felt like a Tuscan villa nestled in the hills of Austin. Loved it !!
- 3.5/5
it was nice that the amidites were available before and after check in. Traveling with kids the pool deals on food are better for feeding kids because you get a whole meal. inside everything is separate wish they had better meal deals when traveling with kids. Especially for breakfast
- 4.5/5
The room was really dirty. Hair in the shower not mine. There was visible dust. In the room
- 5/5
To leave and not get charged an extra night
- 4/5
Just good all around place to stay for a weekend getaway
- 5/5
A quick refuge from the west side of Austin (or AUS airport), I wouldn’t define as luxury, but certainly welcoming and satisfying, with the vibe of a mountaintop overlooking Texas hill country. Maitre de of restaurant a fine fellow, surprisingly delicious kale salad, good wine available. Room was comfortable, 8th floor gave great views of the countryside. Would definitely stay there again, especially if arriving in the afternoon or evening with plans to continue on the road next day.
- 3/5
I feel like the hotel was aiming for an elegant and upscale feel that they did not attain.
- 5/5
It was great. Easy access from the train.
- 5/5
Wonderful
- 5/5
Greatly enjoyed our stay. Will definitely be back!
- 2/5
Front desk staff and valet were unhelpful and some seemed bothered if you asked them a question. Trying to contact the hotel by phone is impossible. This made for one of my worst hotel stays ever. I do want to say Luka was a big help though!
- 3/5
Meh
- 5/5
Kind of expensive.
- 3/5
Fyi- use your $10 food and beverage voucher the day you check in or lose it! They dont tell you this! Beverage cooler in king rooms doesnt get cold Early check in is an editional $50 and is at 1pm if granted and they dont tell you that either!
- 5/5
Although the hotel is situated slightly outside the city, it is wonderful—tucked away amidst peaceful, lush greenery; its Italian-style architecture is beautifully maintained and spotless. Room service, front desk, and restaurant services are prompt and friendly, while the valet service is generally good—provided if you can find a valet!!.
- 2/5
This is no where close to a resort, this is just a hotel
- 3/5
They need more staff
- 5/5
Love this hotel location! Such a relaxing atmosphere from the moment you arrive and you cannot beat the spa services. This is my hotel in the Austin area.
- 5/5
We stayed for 2 nights in a suite and it was exactly like the photos with great views from the balcony. It was well appointed. Our favorite thing was the deep soaking tub. The pool was also very nice. One pool and one hot tub with jets. My wife and I both had spa treatments, which were lovely. The only 2 things I could say to improve would be to have options for vegans on the menu in the restaurant. Also missing was the steam room wasn’t working and there was no water for the sauna. The front desk was very helpful for anything we needed.
- 5/5
It is a nice place with a winding drive up a Central Texas hill. Reminded me of The Shining. It’s a nice place with a good proximity to town and none of the spooky stuff. I would stay again.
- 5/5
Very nice and relaxing hotel everything was nice. The pool was a little dirty, but the hot tub and sunset was very nice and the food was amazing.
- 5/5
Hotel Viata was a beautiful hotel in the Austin Hill Country, the views were amazing and the property is clean and well maintained. The staff were helpful and friendly and very professional. The rooms are clean and spacious. The restaurant was very convenient and had a great breakfast. We would definitely stay there again.
- 4/5
We liked our suite with the soaking tub. The QR code for pool food service did not work so We could not get food even though it was advertised. We ordered dinner in our room, the focaccia bread was over toasted, the bolognese was so salty and the pasta was overcooked, the cannolis were unsweetened. Breakfast steak sandwich was flavorless. The food was super overpriced for the quality of food.
- 4/5
The stay was great, however the beds were not comfortable at all which was very surprising to me.
- 3/5
Housekeeping continues to be an issue. I stayed ten days and dust was visible. Trash wasn’t picked up completely, water wasn’t replenished, and sheets weren’t changed. Staff even left their working materials on the bathroom. Lighting is really bad. Shampoo dispenser didn’t work and wasn’t changed or repaired. Valet staff didn’t leave car outside when leaving early even when requested.
- 4/5
Everything and everybody was great. The only complaint was house keeping did not come until after 5pm. We had 3 of us with event in am and in pm to get ready for and needed towels, called to desk for towels, they never came. I ended up tracking down a housekeeper in the halls, exchanged dirty towels for clean, emptied our trash myself. House keeping knocked in our door as were were leaving around 530, didn't need them by then. Maybe they were short staffed? Other than that I absolutely loved this hotel.
- 3/5
The location is great for a corporate stay, but if you’re looking for activity around the hotel, there is none. The property is fairly dated. We’ve stayed there several times.. there has been no refurbishments over the last at least 3-4 years that we know of or can see. Also, we only had breakfast at the hotel, so I can’t comment on anything else, but the breakfast was never good.
- 5/5
Not only is the hotel gorgeous- but located in beautiful setting among the hills. So appreciated my 2 stays at the hotel!! And plan to be back there again.
- 5/5
Was very nice especially the bath area and the swimming pools Too many covers on the beds and tucked in to tight
- 5/5
Staff was Friendly
- 5/5
Very well kept hotel and very friendly staff. Would definitely stay here again!

- 4/5
The pool was fine considering I was only in the jacuzzi from 8:30 to 9:00pm. I didn't eat breakfast.
- 4/5
Location is one where a car is needed. Most places are 10min drive away from hotel.
- 5/5
Clean
- 5/5
It’s a beautiful hotel . Clean and very nice !
- 4.5/5
Location away from the city. Good facilities
- 5/5
First rate
- 2.5/5
Very dated room interiors and filthy if you happen to look under any furniture.
- 5/5
I just love staying here—the room, the grounds etc. for the price
- 4/5
The property itself felt
- 4/5
Our room was as expected had a nice view of Wild Basin. The pool area had nice seating and a cute little bar area. They even had a DJ playing music for a couple hours in the afternoon, which was a nice surprise.
- 4.5/5
Absolutely enjoyed my time here. It was comfortable, spacious, welcoming, and just lovely. Would for sure stay again.
- 5/5
Had a wonderful time Victoria was very helpful and accommodating during our stay
- 5/5
Muy buena atención el personal es muy atento
- 5/5
Staff was very helpful, room was clean
- 3/5
No coffee cups nd one pod was provided in the room. The front desk was offended I asked for cups and made me fetch them and hung up on me. Way below my expectations.
- 5/5
There were a couple of staff members that were not pleasant. For the most part the staff was pleasant and accommodating, but they open tye kitchen at 7am when most hotels open at 6am, so I wondered down a little early and one of the servers seemed annoyed by this, I asked where the coffee was and his response was,”we’ll be open in a few minutes!”. The second instance: I was checking out and went to hand my keycard to the front desk agent, she pointed to a basket and looked at me with a condescending expression and said, “the keys go there.” All of f the other staff were great!
- 5/5
My wife and I enjoyed our stay. Just wish the pool was heated
- 3/5
Rooms dated, no
- 2/5
We drove 5 hours for a weekend trip for a concert in Austin. I upgraded to the romance package. Had my wife open the door to the room..nothing. No roses. No champagne. No chocolate covered strawberries. I felt like an idiot.
- 4/5
It’s good only missing house keeping when I was stay there it not have house keeping
- 2/5
The room was very dark with poor lighting. No lamp at desk. Was up early and went downstairs to read hoping for better lighting. At 630 am they were playing lousy music loudly in the lobby making it difficult to even read. No excuse for that tonedeaf stupidity
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel. From was comfortable and large.
- 2/5
Check in :nobody checked on the car when we pulled up ,we had to unload our bags, checked in still no help with bags , 10 minutes waiting on a cart ! Check in lady ! Must not be a happy person ! Very cold, no smile !! Breakfast room service we order they said 10 minutes ! Called back after 26 minutes !??? They said they forgot to put the room number down !! So you be the judge how was our stay !!
- 2/5
While the hotel was clean and the staff was friendly, beware that if there is an onsite event they do not follow the sound ordnance prohibitions of West Lake Hills. We stayed over the weekend and they had two weddings scheduled where one had music blasting until 1:30 AM on Sunday. Normally I’m a heavy sleeper, but with the windows rattling it was impossible to rest. This tarnished an otherwise great stay at Hotel Viata.
- 5/5
Beautiful place and clean
- 5/5
Lovely hotel.
- 5/5
$40 daily “resort” fee. This is a nice hotel, but far from resort status.
- 5/5
Beautiful place to stay and not too far from downtown. Nothing!
- 5/5
Amazing Hotel, staff very friendly and helpful. Outdoor pool was refreshing with comfortable seating.
- 4/5
Beautiful property Parking easy in and out. Centrally located to what I needed. The staff was not the most courteous. The desk clerk was a bit sarcastic she did her job but as far as friendly no. The doorman or the carhop plainly saw me struggling with luggage and that heavy door. Offered no assistance until I asked for it. Both bartenders were friendly and attentive.
- 3.5/5
Too expensive
- 4/5
Nice hotel with lovely staff. On a major road so not walkable to anywhere
- 5/5
The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean and functional with a lot of storage. The Nespresso coffee machine is a great feature. One small comment is that the furniture is a bit tired and could use touch ups to repair the knicks and scratches.
- 5/5
Great place to stay in Austin!! Comfortable and safe!
- 5/5
Beautiful location, fine interior and friendly stayy
- 1/5
Lady that checked out was kind of rude, really left a sour taste , had an exceptional stay till this occurred, second guessing if I would ever stay here again. Esp when the issue was between hotels.com and the hotel itself regarding billing.
- 5/5
Great stay! Unique place
- 4/5
Spacious room with high ceiling, free parking, nice quiet area Worn out old carpet in the room was unpleasant. Lighting in the bathroom is dared and dull.
- 1/5
After a long drive and expecting to check into the hotel we carefully planned for, being turned away at the front desk was incredibly frustrating and disappointing. The staff arranged a “complimentary” stay at another hotel, but it was a noticeably lower-tier property and not comparable to what we originally booked or paid for. While I understand that mistakes can happen, overbooking guests who reserved months in advance is unacceptable for a hotel that positions itself as a high-end resort. The whole point of booking early is to avoid exactly this kind of situation. This completely ruined the experience we had planned and left a very negative first impression. If you’re considering staying here, just be aware that even confirmed reservations apparently don’t guarantee you’ll actually have a room when you arrive.
- 4/5
The restroom
- 5/5
Clean staff was super friendly Everything was great!
- 3/5
Clean room, But the pillows are very uncomfortable. Staff (receptionist )nothing professional.
