Motel 6 Amarillo, TX

Did not like any of it. We had to get let in our rooms by the front desk, the beds where like sleeping on cardboard, there was dog hair on the bed sheets. It smelt bad.

We were very tired. The room was was clean, refreshing, and large. The mattresses and pillows were wonderful. The parking was great.

The location. I was almost charged the whole price for a room again upon arrival after I had already booked through a third party booking app.

Dirty, smell MJ and smoke. Idk what's the point of taking a $50 deposit because if you pay cash, they give it right back to you the next day without checking the room. Waste of time.

The room smelled strongly of cleaner, there were long black hairs all over the bedding, the shower was dirty and had visible mold on the curtains. The faucet in the tub leaked all night and the toilet ran non stop. There were many instances of dogs barking and people yelling and fighting in rooms and in the hallways so sleep was impossible.

Room smelled of cigarette smoke, electrical outlets by the beds were improperly wired. When you turned off the lights over the bed, the outlets also shut off. It was very inconvenient for charging phones or fir a cpap.

The negatives are: The hotel could use some work and the parking lot better maintained. The bathroom had a tub with jets but, SURPRISE SURPRISE, it didn't work. Which was kind of expected considering the state of the property. Also, some of the plaster on the wall by the tub was chipped away which exposed a metal wall stud. My bathroom has 3 towels. Two of which had a hair in them so who knows whether or not the were actually clean, and the 3rd wasn't in the best of shape. Lastly, the morning desk clerk looked like she rolled out of bed and went to work not really caring about her appearance. What she had on looked like something you would wear as pajamas and her stomach was partially hanging out. Overall, I don't recommend staying at the Motel 6 location. The negatives greatly outweigh the positives.

Staff was helpful but scarce due to opening all the doors for guests.

Their card system was down and she was checking in people, asking/telling them about the deposit, and running to open their rooms. All the time, she was very calm. We're had an issue with the TV in our room and Cleta resolved it.

Until they fix the door locks and card key system, I wouldn’t feel safe staying there

The pictures do not capture the current state of the property, and neither do the other commenters. The other people staying at the hotel seemed very sketchy. The front desk was covered in signage about how you can’t get a refund if you go to your room for 15 min - so this seems to be a space for sketchy dealings. There were no keys so the staff had to let you into your room each time. The staff were very kind and welcoming, but could use discretion when giving out your room number. They said it out loud multiple times and walked me and a male customer to our separate rooms at the same time so he was aware I was alone and which room was mine. The rest of the reviews were misleading so I wanted to be clear on the true experience. I expected low amenities, flat pillows, and a bad mattress. I didn’t expect to feel unsafe. I immediately left and booked a hotel somewhere else even though I had already paid for my room.

The atmosphere felt very unsafe. There appeared to be several people who seemed to be using drugs, along with dogs roaming the building, making the property feel more like a long-term shelter than a motel for travelers. The most disturbing part was finding refillable shampoo containers in the shower that looked like they had simply been reused instead of replaced or properly sanitized. That raised serious concerns about cleanliness and hygiene. Overall, this was one of the worst motel experiences I've had. Between the dirty room, lack of functioning key cards, questionable sanitation, and unsafe environment, I cannot recommend staying here.

Place looks very outdated. Rooms especially. Towels looked dirty very rough. mattress are thin and uncomfortable. Keyless entry was not working so we had to get staff to open doors each time.

Scam and mold!!! I always book thru Hotels.com. The guy checking in before me and I both were told they could find our reservation and we'd have to cancel and book straight thru the hotel. I'm sure this was to save them the hotels.com fee. Plus, the room was more expensive thru the hotel. Once in the room, it was a dump. See photos. Plus sketchy people hanging around outside the building. It was very noisy all night listening to trucks drive by.

The corporate overlords that own the Motel 6 brand could give two poops about the actual accomodations. They collect the franchise fee and the franchise owners just let the properties languish. This place wasn't maintained well. The clientele was either street urchins, workers on per diem, or people like me looking for value on a place to sleep for a few hours. It's not the Motel 6 of old, and they ain't leaving the light on for you.

Lots of traffic stay here beware very loud and noisy. No microwave beds are rock hard.

When we got there, the front desk lady said she had her friends there, maybe 3ish of them, idk if they were staying there or just chilling. After she helped me she went into a car that was parked out front. Seemed shady. The motel itself was cheapish but smelled like smoke all throughout the hallways. Room was smelly also. A dead roach greeted me at the door along with pub shavings on the tub and it seemed unclean in the bathroom. Sink and tub had some yellow crud. Bed was hard and uncomfy, pillows were flat. Fridge worked good, outlets were okay except the right side of the room didn’t work. Didn’t they the tv cause we were too tired. Wouldn’t stay again

It was a safe place and no frills. Fine to crash for a night if you sre on a budget. Not too far from Palo Dura Canyon.

We interacted with multiple members of the staff and all were incredibly friendly and helpful - went above and beyond to ensure a positive experience. We had a great stay and would stay again. Ripped blankets and sheets, sheets had blood on them as if they didn’t even wash them…there was a woman sitting in the lobby with no shoes on just hanging out wait for the desk person to get off work. The tv remote didn’t work.

Extremely clean and tidy. Staff very helpful, especially Chris who was very dedicated to making sure all client concerns were taken care of. AC worked well, but was noisy. Shower needs some work -- water came out half through the showerhead, half through the faucet.

The room was relatively clean. The bathroom had hair on the walls and hair on the walls of the bathtub. The sheets were stained as was the inside shower curtain, but the most important thing to note is that in the middle of the night a fire alarm went off the fire alarm went off because a non-guest was able to access a door that should’ve been locked and he started chaos that led to the fire alarms going off. This was a safety in an issue and was unacceptable.

I am highly offended that the staff at this motel would pry into someone’s personal life; and to, then, go to the effort of giving that information to someone else. That goes beyond being nosey. She violated my rights, not only as a person, but as a FEMALE, as well. I stated in one of the suites, and it was AWESOME; aside from the incident with my information being given to someone, I have always had a pleasant stay at this motel. I am not sure what caused her (the manager) to initiate outside contact about my room rental? I feel this was totally out of line. For all she knows, calling my roommate to inform him of my location, could have put me in a very dangerous position. Needless to say, I was/a not very satisfied with the results of this latest stay.

the advertisement pictures are not accurate at all. also they should not advertise as having a pool, when it is actually being used as a storage area. Motel 6 should consider turning off the lights.

The room was clean overall. The stay served it's purpose for me. Heater needs some repair and so also the shower but the staff was great.

The stay was pet friendly. The cleanliness was not there I don’t think they had swept that room in months. Other than that it was fine and quiet.

heater did not work , finding this out later in the night , we ended up having to change rooms, , and received i night credit. The owner lives on site , and the neglect of this property is unacceptable , outside signage is non working , DO BETTER, OWNER, AND TRAVELOCITY NEEDS TO DELETE THIS LOCATION .

The room condition was poor with no amenities: no dresser, closet, soap, shampoo, USB outlets, clock, tissue. We couldn't sleep due to the uncomfortable bed and light coming through the window. In the morning we were appalled at the shower which didn't spray water. Instead it ran down the wall and onto the floor. The microwave was defective and no coffee was available in the lobby. We decided to check out but no one knew how to refund our money.

there was toilet paper in the bathroom trash when I walked in. Leading me to believe they didnt really clean the room. Room had a door that connected to the next room. Didn't like that at all very unsafe. Place had an odor.

The outside was unkempt and looked unsafe. The front desk area smelled like marijuana and pee. The TV that I was using to try to drown out the outside noise kept going out because of rain. Got no sleep.

I requested an AARP discount, didnt get it. Then it started raining in the middle of the night & rain was pouring into the room because of leaky window. Told front desk & her reply was 'I dont know how to fix it' & asked if we could change rooms & she said she didnt know how to do it .....

the place allows dogs and that is why I stay there. The AC was really noisy, and the shower didn't work at all.

Dont stay at this hotel because they will just put u out for no reason with no valid reason they assumed i was a prostitute for no apparent reason just because someone i communicate with is a trucker who helped me with my room when needed and so is my kids father he is also a trucker so that is no excuse i really did not have traffic but at the last minute was told i couldnt extend my stay the house keep didnt come like she was supposed to when we were in the suite but we had issues and then they did not return my deposit when i cleaned the room myself this morning so unless u want to get put out unexpectedly dont stay here but honestly it was just the housekeeper on the second floor named max the manager and the director for the front desk

Property was clean and good for a night. Shower was finicky , could only take a cold shower otherwise it would shut off

The worst part was my room (#106) and the disgusting bathtub/shower. It was so gross that I couldn't believe it hadn’t been cleaned in ages! There was grime everywhere, and I was worried I might get sick just by stepping inside. So, I decided it was better to skip the shower altogether, even though I really needed one. To top it all off, I had to deal with a manager who didn’t seem to care about anything. It was such a terrible experience that I just wanted to go home and be comfortable instead of staying in that awful place! Needless to say a letter to Motel 6 corporate office has been mailed.

They kept the security deposit because we used the towels to clean a spill, wipe off a small dirt smudge and a little blood from a cut.

One of the filthiest places I’ve stayed. Stuff spilled on the walls and inside refrigerator. Disgusting bathroom. Did not feel safe because the doors to the hotel other than the lobby weren’t locked. Should have known when there was a car up on a jack bing held up by the tire on sideways in the parking lot to not stay there. Very sketch. Really, AVOID THIS PLACE!

In a unsafe neighborhood. Signs hanging from police department telling you lock all door and not come until leaving. I did not stay. As a women travel by my self wouldn't put myself in a bad circumstance

The shower was dirty, the room was very bare which made it feel weird (no dresser, coffee maker) Lobby had a very strong odor of scented cleaner, the inside of the inside pool was chipped. I have yet to stay at a decent Motel 6. Will never book a Motel 6 again.

Good service, nice staff. Only issue was the smell of lavender and marijuana, possibly CBD. However, I noted that the staff was doing their best to accomodate. Staff was apologetic and did well to help with the aroma.

I arrived at the property. This may be the worst maintained property in the motel 6 chain. I checked in and when I arrive at my room, it had not been cleaned. The bed was stripped, no towels, etc. I reported this to the staff and the young lady went to check the only room they had left. It also had not been cleaned. They are suppose to be returning my monies that I charged for the room. That has not been completed at this time.

They had the doors locked to the lobby and were turning people away. I had call d for reservation and they said they had capacity, but when I got there to check in they had me locked out. Staff was still there staring at me through the door but was not responding to my questions

We had to wait for three other people in front of us to check in. There were two people behind the desk and only one was working. The credit card machine was not working so they wanted a cash deposit of $50. Who has cash on them anymore!? We get into the room and there are no towels, just two hand towels and wash cloth, and finally, there was no soap, coffee, shampoo or conditioner. Not sure I have ever been in a hotel that didn’t provide that. Went to the front desk to ask for soap and shampoo and was told they didn’t have any. I will NEVER again stay at a Motel6. The only reason why we stayed there this time was because the Holiday Inn was sold out across the street.

Hardest mattress i have ever attempted to sleep on & pillows so old no fluff left in them King bed only 1 side table & NO electric plug on side without table Had to buy extension cord to plug in sleep machine * used wooden chair beside bed bathroom so outdated 1 worn-out washclothe towels very thin. The placed smelled like Marijuana- i think was the connected room which had 2 inch gap under door. Required 2 separate transactions to check in & deposit I have never has this at a motel I couldn't get refund on it so we stayed. I should have read reviews Ita next door to truck stop which was by windows so noisy

Not bad. Get what you pay for but fridge and microwave were there. Could use a table or counter in bathroom for tioletries.

Convenience and clean

Room clean and comfortable.

We showed up at a decent time around 8pm and walked in to a sticky floor. We walked around to check out the quality and felt like we walked in to a jail cell. There were no pictures on the wall, only two tiny little tables and 1 basically folding chair. The bathroom had black long strands of hair all over the floor and in the shower drain. The sink also looked like someone pored a dark drink down it and wasn’t cleaned.. then we went to pull back the sheets we found more hair! We should have ran then put we were super tired so we went bed.. but that wasn’t the end of our experience, at 12 or 1 am a couple walked in to the room next to us that woke me right up! We could hear EVERY detail of their conversation.. and every detail of what they did before bed. Also their activity after they went to bed for another hour or so!! I’m still so upset that I waisted my money on that place and decided to spend a little extra on another motel next time I visit my daughter in college!

The 2nd room, the tv wasnt working but thats not the problem. Someone left a clogged up turd in the toilet along with cigarette butts (in a non smoking room mind you). The third room didnt have any issues except when i woke up at 5am to get a shower and hit the road, and the water wasnt even WARM! seriously, go somewhere else....

Tough stay. Lots of noise. Room key didn’t work 5 times. Moved to smoking room as the room key didn’t work on our room. Very loud, dirty, and at times felt unsafe. Will not stay here again.

My room was clean except for the walls. There were several disgusting stains on the bathroom wall and by the trashcan. Beds were clean and very firm. The AC kept to the room very cold. The property had smells in hallways. I did feel safe there and the area around seemed safe. It was very convenient for the price to visit WT A&M and Palo Duro Canyon state park.

Started off not so good when they gave us a room that had not men cleaned. Opened the door to towels on the floor, beds unmade. They made it right by giving us a suite. Outside of building was neglected. Weeds growing. The girls working at the desk were really trying to make things right and very apologetic. It was a shift change and the day shift had left without a good turnover as to which rooms were clean. The one girl was training at the desk and the girl that was training her was in the back so she had to keep asking her questions. I felt bad for her because she kept apologizing and it was not her fault. The manager should really be on the property owner about cleaning up the outside area. No really good places to walk your dog because people don't clean up after their animals. I walked mine over by the Starbucks and Truck Stop area.

It was a nice enough place. Other than the mattress being super hard, it was exactly what I needed.

Toilet ran all night and DID NOT FLUSH . apparently this location is more for the individual who lives full time in hotel.. and the truckers who park near by ... not for someone who finds cleanliness a key in hospitality services.. The front desk was kind and seemed disappointed with the cleaning crew, however it did not surprise them the rooms were not clean . The lady at the front desk cleaned my room herself. Took almost two hours to get into my room..not sure about the breakfast area ,had no faith it would have been worth it .
